I have been fly fishing for 10 years but was new to the area, so I wanted a guide to help me get on the fish. Unfortunately, it stormed the night before and we didn't catch anything, but I can't say enough good things about my guide. Bruce Bauer worked his butt off to get us on fish, taking us to multiple locations and taking the time to show me the area. He even fixed some of my bad casting habits and was just so much fun to fish with. Bruce was personable, easy to talk to, and I really enjoyed my time. I will definitely be coming back to do a full guided trip with him!

Upon entering I was greeted by Mike. He spent several minutes explaining where I should fish and what flies to use. He circled the areas on a map to make things clear on where to fish. The store is tastefully decorated with a large selection of flyfishing related merchandise. It's in a great location, surrounded by shops and restaurants. Even though the shop is in "town" parking was not a problem at all. There is a city parking deck across the street but we were able to park on the street. I'd highly recommend The Ugly Bug Fly Shop....especially for visiting anglers who are not familiar with the area.
