When you arrive there is a slew of signs posted anywhere you go with more rules. It's very much a feel.of just give us your money and dissappear into your rental space. Rabbit poop everywhere so be weary if you have young children it's on and around the play structures. There's a large field but no access to it. Cabins are glorified play houses with sulfur smelling water and electricity. No shoes indoors which makes for an uncomfortable entrance in colder weather. Not ada friendly. No insulation. The beds are so close to the ceiling if you are taller you could hit you're head. They are placed on a flatbed with wheels so they move. Religion is everywhere here. The coffee mugs. Inside the cabins , tiles on walls and from the guest but she has extremely poor behaviors and pretends to be kind then uses the words god bless to attempt to excuse said poor behaviors. No real private space. The host entered the cabin while we were gone. No boundaries for guests but a million to accommodate the owners. I highly recommend reading reviews of this space on other platforms as well before staying. They truly have no business dealing with the public.

Beautiful, relaxing, peaceful spot…read more My husband and I visited this dock 2 days ago after going to my Grandmother's 90th Birthday Party in the area. There is a bronzed statue of Sacajawea near the bridge by this dock. The autumn foliage here is just breathtaking - bright yellows, brilliant oranges, and cranberry reds - and there are lilypads *everywhere* which really add to the beauty of the place. The dock itself is a mostly-rectangular-shaped, with slanted corners, and it is about 20 - 30 feet wide and about 15 - 20 feet long. From the dock, you can see glorious amounts of lilypads, a good section of the lake, a proud tall fountain that emerges from the center of the lake, the bridge to your right (about a 2-minite walk from the dock), and lots and lots of trees. Off in the distance behind the dock, there's a playground, which was full of happy kids playing in it on the Saturday that we visited. There were quite a few people out at the lake itself this past Saturday, however, it never felt crowded, and we were the only two people on the dock itself. There are no benches on the actual dock, but there's a nice park bench very close to it. I have some memories of Lake Sacajawea from when I was much younger, since I have family in this area, but I hadn't been there in many years until this past weekend. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. It's a lovely place to chill for a while or take a short stroll.

My buddy told me catching bass would be nice as usual but he wanted wanted to go bigger this time as in salmon which is something I know nothing about. I looked at a few different sites for a guide service, and the one I easily selected was Legal Limit Outdoors. I was instantly impressed when the owner David Taber told me he would get us on some fish and that he would also like to give us a military discount. The photos on his web site also looked pretty promising for catching nice sized fish and having fun while doing it! After booking with David he called and provided multiple follow ups before our trip. This was only the start of his sincere kindness, courtesy, and true appreciation for his clients. This kindness continued throughout our trip today. David I learned is not only a veteran himself but a kind hearted guide who loves what he does and he wants you to enjoy your experience even more! He not only got us on the fish but we were the only boat out of about 5 in our area to catch anything. When I say anything I mean multiple Salmon ranging from 15-40 lbs. While no one else near us caught anything we got hook up after hook up. When we were all done for the day David even cleaned all of our fish afterwards. David has fished the Columbia River for decades and if you are looking for a guide with experience and the ability to teach people of all levels from beginner to expert, he is your guy! David if you see this I want to say not only thank you for getting us on the fish, but thanks for the photos and memories that will last a lifetime!

We had a great time. He has a perfect boat for the river, and knew exactly where the Sturgeon were that would be good for us to catch (not too big and not too small). I came…read morehere a couple of months ago for disc golf, but there was way more to be discovered here then I had thought. Here's a little bit about Horning's Hideout: = Just Getting Here = Be aware that once you drive off the main road, you'll see the signs to the hideout, but it's all gravel and tall trees from there. From the main sign, the drive heads downward, winding through the forest, down the canyon. Similar to that of driving to Pittock Mansion, only unpaved and narrower turns. So please proceed with caution. Once at the bottom, it opens up to a pleasant little valley. = Parking and Fee = Past the barn, to your right is the parking area. It's an open field. Pay at the parking station, $5 per person. = Features & Activities = * For fishing, I had inquired at the office. Once you park, there is a house or an information office just above the parking station. The lady (or owner) was helpful as she explained to me the lay of the land. Again, this place was way larger than I had imagined. But back to fishing... There is a lake that gets stocked with trout. No fishing license required. Assuming due to this being private land. You do pay a catch/cleaning fee. They also have fly-fishing during the winter through spring season. More details on their website. I did notice they've got paddle boats as well. So, forget the stupid ipad, and keep the kids busy with fishing and paddle boating! * For disc golf, there are three huge courses. One, only being par 3's. Which to me was like a good hike, yet still challenging. A medium course that's par 3's and 4's through the canyon that's said to be scenic. I have yet to try it. And a championship course with par 5's; Difficult greens around trees, and a U-turn. Someday, but not any time soon! * As for the wedding venues, I can only imagine, but there are three venues to use depending on your wedding party size. Can you envision your wedding photos or even your reception being close to a pond, a lake, a creek, or even a waterfall, with trees all around? Yeah, that's this place! Oh yeah, and with peacocks too! * Camping is also allowed as well. Reservations required of course. * And as you can see with the yelp photos, they occasionally have concerts which I though was really cool. Well, that just about sums it up, not sure what else to say. It's just a secluded place worth checking out. Especially if you need to escape some city life.

It had forecasted to rain but luckily it held off until the following day. It would have been a totally different event had it rained. I do wish there was a way of getting around having to walk in gravel but unless they pave it there is no getting around that. So guests were told ahead of time to be aware of that. Different chairs were rented rather than the plastic ones that are provided which was a nice thing. Extra hanging lights were rented and hung up by the brides father. It made a big difference and I think the venue should consider investing in adding them permanently.

However, we had the opportunity to catch and keep sturgeon only if it was between 44-50 inches; which occurs twice in a year. From beginning to start, Matt was super helpful with providing gear for me as it was my first time fishing. His boat was top of the line compared to the rest on the river that day. It had a hot water sink and very comfy chairs to sit in. He also had beers, waters on dec and had anti-nausea meds on board which was great for me since I was feeling sick. After 5 minutes, my boyfriend caught his first sturgeon that was 47 inches. And I caught one four hours later that was 45 inches. He allowed us to reel it in (which was a struggle for me, but worth it) and he took great photos after. We were the only 2 people that day to catch and keep our sturgeon. We couldn't have had a better experience and we got so lucky that day thanks to Matt! He ended up filet-ing our sturgeons and took 15 pounds of it home. It was the highlight of our trip to Portland. And we plan to come back in the spring once salmon season starts. If you're thinking about booking a trip with him, DO IT. You won't regret it!
