But I felt something is off, and I want to correct mistakes and improve techniques if possible. So I started taking 30min weekly lessons with Aaron. It last several months. I liked the instruction and feedback in each lesson. In the end, I feel I learned a lot and improved all four strokes as I was hoping to. I am still not very good at some of the areas pointed out by him, but at least I am aware of them. I even learned and practiced freestyle flip turn. Without proper supervision and guidance, I would be afraid to attempt myself. Overall, I feel the money and time are well spent.

She made a tremendous amount of progress over the course of the summer and loves the pool now! My mom decided to try swimming lessons too after seeing how wonderful Bethany was with my daughter, and she loved her classes with Bethany too. They people couldn't figure out how to charge me so that was a whole debacle , and I went to pay they charged me a whole month. Come to find out they lied and you can't let them know in advance and not be charged. Now I still appreciated the make up classes so I decided to sign up. Now when I called to say hey I put in the website we were out but we didn't receive anything saying we got a make up class they said oh you only get 2 a month and only for 30 days. I have now canceled my membership. Onto the experience itself. The instructor is nice but he didn't know any songs to help calm my daughter who was getting used to classes again. There is no way other than jumping in and using your arms to get out. I beg and plead find someplace else.

Also, the pool water is a little bit warm in winter, which makes kids feel more comfortable when they have to swim during cold days. Besides, the staff and instructors are friendly. Some of the coaches are really patient and professional, like Edward, Sonia, Amanda and so on. However, sometimes the new coaches will be assigned to students. It takes time for both new coaches and students to get used to each other. In general, this is a great place to learn to swim, especially for people who live nearby.

I just wish they had a make-up classes, especially during the summer: there is no rescheduling of missed classes. For the Swim School, you can buy a drop-in class "splash class" for a $20 discount but that must be booked the day of, which makes it hard to plan for.

It's a nice sized, clean, heated pool. Lots of areas to sit or layout, including a whole section beneath the shade of a large oak tree. The instructors are young, but Well-versed and of course, very nice. There are outdoor showers. And a nice tennis court. Swim lessons are decently priced and sessions can be purchased via their website during the Summer. No need to be a club member. My daughter took swim lessons the entire summer, and we really loved the smaller atmosphere of this private club as opposed to going to the YMCA, which had much larger class sizes and I was looking for more one on one experiences which I was able to get at Fairbrae.

If something needs to be fixed, it's taken care of quickly. The gym has everything you need: machines, a few squat racks, free weights, a Smith machine, and a decent-sized cardio area with a good variety of equipment. The only thing I wish they had is a chest fly machine. There are classes going on all the time, and there's a turf area where your child can play while you work out. The turf has outdoor toys, ride-on vehicles, and large Legos, which is a great setup. We use the kids club for our daughter, and she loves it and always has fun. Childcare was the main reason we chose this gym since no other gyms in Cupertino offer it, and it ended up being an amazing decision. Our daughter also does swim lessons here. Brian is very patient and makes her feel comfortable in the water. She has learned how to float, hold her breath underwater, and is beginning to swim. She used to hate swimming, and now she looks forward to going every week.

Positives: Weight room has two squat racks that double as deadlift platforms! You can always find a treadmill open and the views of the parking lot, sky, and YMCA lobby are pretty peaceful to look at as you're running or biking. Free coffee every morning. I've never tried it myself, but that is a unique perk only this YMCA has. Chess club meets on Sunday mornings. I had to stop going last year, but when I went it was a ton of fun and open to everyone. Negatives: The men's locker room floor is almost always wet from kids not properly drying off after swimming. It's pretty annoying for gym goers because we are wearing socks that can get wet; that just ruins our day. Weight room has no ventilation and the fan is broken; it can get stuffy in there. Parking lot has shade from like one tiny tree in the very back. If you don't get that spot, your car is going to be under the sun during your entire workout. Overall, I do love this YMCA. I love seeing families and people of all ages, ethnicities, and cultures enjoying their time off work or school. There's always a good vibe here.
