We had a great experience with Shawn Kramer through Sunsational Swim School. The private at-home lesson format was incredibly convenient, and the 1:1 attention made a huge difference for my 4-year-old daughter. My daughter had tried group swim lessons previously with another organization, but never got comfortable with the most basic skills like putting her face in the water. Shawn was patient, encouraging, and did a great job balancing when to push and when to give my daughter a break while she was trying something new and difficult. By the end of the lessons, my daughter was so comfortable in the water that the biggest challenge was getting her to keep her head out of water long enough to listen to the next instruction! My daughter looked forward to every lesson and always wanted to keep swimming at the end of the lesson. We did 12 lessons, 45 minutes each, three times a week, and it was the perfect way to start the summer by building a strong foundation from which we will keep practicing on our own. Highly recommend Shawn for young kids who need individualized instruction and confidence in the water. read more

instructor Mariela (east bay)- Mariela is so great with the kids. Upon her first few moments with the kids she found different ways to connect to all of them (different ages and levels) and also connected with all of us parents. She's easy going and so flexible, she's able to transition quickly if something isn't working. Both of my kids started this summer not wanting to put their heads in the water at all and now they are swimming laps and having fun diving in the deep end of the pool. Everett made lessons engaging in different ways for each kid and balanced learning fun swim things with safety skills. He is incredibly patient, connects with each kid, and has such a positive attitude. Choosing to have private lessons at home was such a great choice. Our 6yr old Daughter often shuts down and it is very hard to get her to try new things she is fearful of doing. She immediately took to Aiden. He is incredibly patient and has a very kind disposition. When we started she wouldn't put her face in the water or wear goggles. After 12 sessions she is willing with little assistance to touch the bottom of the pool going all the way under. There were some rough days where she really was not up for doing anything. Aiden did not give up. He tried many different approaches and we are incredibly grateful for his determination that lead her to such a big step in her water confidence. Linda always had a smile on her face and brought the energy to our swim lessons. Learning to swim as an adult is not easy. While watching my son's first swim lesson, I enviously watched kids around him swimming thinking "I wonder how long it will take for my son to swim like that." I am happy to report it only took one summer of lessons for my three year old son to learn how to swim. He knows how to swim "eyes down" with "scoops" or "pizza" arms. He knows how to turn and back float when he needs a breath. He knows backstroke "waving to the sky" and "monkey, airplane, soldier." So happy that he can be safe and have fun in a pool. We started with Sunsational Swimming last summer but didn't have the best experience; our instructor was flakey and wasn't able to progress through skills even after 9 lessons. We stopped lessons in October due to weather then picked back up again this summer, when we were matched with our current instructor Zach. Zach has been incredible compared to our previous instructor. He is responsive, timely and our son is making amazing progress in the water! All of the skills we were hoping he'd learn in the water, he is learning. Zach has been great at building trust with us as parents but especially with our toddler who told us he wants to be Zach Swimming (that's what he calls Zach) when he grows up. read more

As a first time client, i was not sure what to expect but upon meeting Sheris, she is just the right instructor we're looking for. She had to teach 2 kids (6yr old and 4 yr old) and she knew exactly how to get them motivated to learn. Both of my girls are so comfortable now being in the water and learned so much from her.
