I vowed to never return during that particular supercuts crew (read my review for supercuts on 07/19/08). I also vowed to not go to a Supercuts - at least for that day. Cruising around I busted out my Verizon phone and looked up Yelp.com [insert cheesy kung-fu movie sounds here) I looked up "Barber" and since I kind of feel more important if I'm the "first to review" a place - I looked for a locale that had no reviews - Ben's was the first one past Supercuts - YES! Ben's California Concepts was a pretty great find. Ben - the owner and sole barber was really nice and un-intimidating. for some reason I feel really intimidated by new barbers - Ben was great. Since he's the only guy their all day he only works off appointments, so you got to call first. The shop is very mid-westy, brick building probably built by Billy the Kid himself back in the day, Ben himself is an older friendly Hispanic fellow that greeted me with a smile - it was a very comfortable environment. His ship is one chair, one barber, and that's it you walk in, sit down, chit chat, and in 15 minutes I was done. New Barbers freak me out, especially since I don't know how to cut hair - I have no way of telling them how to cut my hair, Ben was awesome he took a few minutes to show me his clippers and sizes and I didn't feel like a complete dumb-ass because I didn't know if I wanted a "2" or a "3". Recommendation: Just call ahead, 14 bucks for a regular hair cut for men.

This place is based off Walk ins and its sad to be ignored by the barbers waiting a few hours to just get a haircut. I just got here and somehow my appt was changed to haircut only and they don't have time to do my color (even though the salon was empty). Aaron can cut hair, however, he does not know how to clean up men's eyebrows in any shape or form. He messed up my left eye brow and it's very noticeable. Very disappointed in this being that I have interviews coming up and now looking like this.
