As a mom of three, I'm always on the hunt for a good playground/park. The Fircrest Tot-Lot was recommended by one of my best friends as she regularly takes her toddler here, so we met up to let the kids play one day. The biggest draw to this place is that the park is fully fenced in. If you have a runner, they can only get as far as the fence (as long as they don't know how to unlock it!) My kids aren't runners, but I like knowing that I can see anybody who is coming and going from the park at all times at the one entrance. The playground equipment is decent. I'd say it's geared towards kids who are little older (3+) as my two year old at the time was much too small and timid to attempt going on any of it. They had swings as well and some climbing structures which she was really interested in. The interesting thing about this park is that they have a ton of random toys strewn across the park. Riding toys, building toys, music toys... I'm assuming people come and donate them and just leave them, because there was no rhyme or reason and kids were just going at them like a free for all. Some of them were in iffy condition, but they didn't mind too much. All in all, it's a good little park! Definitely worth the stop if you're looking for safe, fun park in Fircrest. read more

I really enjoyed spending the afternoon at this park with my 5 year old. The park is fully fenced in with restrooms and benches/picnic tables throughout to sit on. There's 2 main play structures, swings, tricycles and scooters to ride on and more. I was worried that this park would be totally geared toward the 3 and under crowd hence the name, but it's perfect for babies/toddlers/and older kids under 12. We spent 2 hours here and my kid had a blast. Street parking also, but very easy to find. read more

The tot lot is geared toward little kids (and their parents!). The park is fully fenced with play structures (wood chips). Encircling the play structures is a path and to one side there are some swings and another side some sand box area. There are benches throughout, a couple tables, some trees, and bathrooms within the fenced park area. There are a few toys (scooters, trikes, riddling bikes, push walkers, dump trucks) for kiddos to play with as well. This is a great option for little ones (1-2 ish) who are often a bit small for the big playgrounds and with the fence it's nice for us parents to let them run around a bit while we have a coffee. It would be nice if there were more swings but I really can't complain. Easily navigate here using gps it's tucked behind off Orchard, park along the street. read more

What a fun place! We took my 2 1/2 year old here to play today. There was so much for her to do, and I love how it is gated. This is one of the best playgrounds for littles that I have been to. Since I am always on a hunting spree for painted rocks that the community hides in surrounding parks I am always on the lookout to see where I can find rocks AND where I can hide rocks after I paint a new batch of them. I saw that there was a park by the community center in Fircrest called the Tot Lot where rocks are found and at the soonest opportunity I went over. There is a larger park nearby as well but the Tot Lot is geared towards younger children. The area securely fenced in with playground equipment, sidewalks so that your little ones can play on their trikes and such. There is also a free little library in the park as well. I often get attracted to places with odd little quirks and the Tot Lot indeed has a minor attraction. A wooden carving of Fred Flintstone. The carving has been touched up in the past with paint jobs but looks like it has fallen upon hard times once again as far as appearance goes. The Tot Lot is a great place to meet other parents that may have children similar in age and opportunities to make new friends. read more

I had a hard time finding this park. For those of us who don't live in Fircrest, the park is actually on the corner of Contra Costa and Ramsdell. Rumors of the police force in Fircrest proved true. I had a very attentive officer following me for a bit. Granted, it was a school zone and I was cruising very slowly up and down the streets, so I quietly congratulated him on his knowledge of strange cars. Hoping he would notice that I had two very impatient 2-year-olds in the backseat before actually pulling me over. I finally find the park. It's fully fenced, which is wonderful! Only one gate in and out. The picnic tables are close to the gate, so parents can sit if they want and watch the kiddos run to their hearts content. They had lots of toys. Not just swings and climbing toys, but real toys! Trucks and a few riding bikes, ect. All a little banged up and sun/water damaged, but who cares? The kids were thrilled. I loved it too. We were there on a chilly day, so it was just my girlfriend and I braving the weather. It had been rainy recently (imagine that) and the sandbox area with all the trucks was a big swimming pool. We fished out a few for the kids and let them run. I take off one star only because it doesn't look as though it's maintained regularly. I could be wrong. I've only been once and that was in the winter, so I may change this to a 5 star after a few more visits. Overall, this is a great place for little ones! Always nice to find parks where I don't need to worry about my kids getting bowled over by the 'big kids.' read more

I love the tot lot and my 2 year old too. It's nice to go to a playground that is fully gated so you don't have to worry about nearby cars and your toddler running into the streets. There are plenty of toys (trucks and tricycles) there that were left by families (I'm assuming) and the structures are rather safe. There are also some tall trees for some shade which is nice in the summer. read more

It's fenced so it's PERFECT for younger children as is the big toys there!! :) Even a swing that harnesses little ones in. :) There is also a big sidewalk track that goes around the perimeter so it's ideal for riding your trike. One of our favorite spots, for sure! read more

This is the best of the best! A simple, unassuming little paradise for kids, the Tot Lot is safe, fully loaded with options, and even has shade and a track. Seriously, so worth the drive. This is my favorite park to take my 2 year old daughter. I've gone during the week and on the weekends, and it's definitely busier on the weekends, but it's not bad at all. I love that this park is fenced so I don't have to worry about the cars driving by or my daughter taking off. Most of the kids there are toddlers, especially during the day on weekdays. Every once in awhile they'll be a couple older kids, but nothing like the larger parks. I definitely recommend this park for anyone with toddlers. read more

Love this park and the fact that it is fenced! With a toddler who likes to run away this helps give an extra level of safety. Went to this tot lot today and was able to have stress-free fun with my two-year old. The tot lot is fenced and there is so much to do there--swings, sandbox, jungle gym and lots of green grass to run on. Definitely going to hit this place up once a week!! read more

TOT Lot is supposed to be for 12 and under kids, but toys are geared for toddlers. Most of the toys there are broken. The playground equipment is in good shape though. It does have a fence with 2 gates that are supposed to be shut after you enter/leave the park. read more

Welcome to the fircrest mudhole! We live if fircrest, and have been to the tot lot a bunch of times with. Our kids, but I absolutely hate going to this park for two reasons. Reason number one, I have had a few encounters with some really snotty parents at this park. One guy seriously over reacted to a incident that happened between our children near the sand box, or more well known as the "Fircrest Mudhole" area. Apparently my daughter took a small toy away from this douchebags son and he totally flipped out and started trying to parent my 8 yearold autistic daughter, by shouting at her about how rude she was and how sad she had made his son. "JUST LOOK HOW SAD YOU MADE HIM! " he shouted. This seriously pissed me off, and I had to literally drag my daughter out of the park, and take my autistic son out of the park as well and go home, trying to explain why we were leaving as they are both screaming. This guy was seriously holding his son back and looking at me in horror as I was leaving. He was one of those balding north face fleece coat wearing dads that drives a Saturn and probably can't pass a McDonalds without getting his overweight son a happy meal. The guy was a total ass. This is not the only run-in I have had with freaky parents at the tot-lot, only the most recent. The second reason I am done with the tot-lot is because of the previously mentioned "fircrest mudhole. " seriously, what's the deal here? I decided we are not going to be going back. read more

This park is perfect for wandering children. It's fully fenced. The swingset is set on a weird slope so little feet hit the ground when swinging. Also only 4 swings-1 baby, 1 special needs chair type with restraint, 2 regular so "sharing" sometimes becomes a problem. It's kept very clean and the bathrooms are decent. The sandbox is very large and there are many sand toys available. There are 2 climbing structures that are well maintained and a few smaller spinners, rockers and a good tire swing to entertain the kids. A few picnic tables here and a bench or two as well. I recommend coming in the early morning on non-sunny days as the rest of the days the park fills up with snotty 24 year-old moms who get pissed off if your daughter accidently gets sand on their unattended baby's Oshgosh overalls. Seriously, if you're going to walk away from your 13 month old in the sandbox so you can chat on your cell phone to your friend about how you're so sick of how the Mercedes dealership can't get your detail "just right" you should expect a little sand box shenanigans. #white people problems. Just sayin'. Oh and super sunny days don't even bother. The park fills up quickly. read more
