I do legal assistant work and we sent several cases to this provider to treat. Without exaggeration, we have requested records for patients seen in September- December 2018 and still have not received them. All the negative reviews on here are true. Avoid this place at all cost! You would think that a doctor would be professional, courteous and at minimum, a mature, rational adult. This doctor is childish, defensive and irrational when you ask her to do her job. No one has asked this office to do anything other that what they are medically licensed to do. (We asked them to send us their reports and bills, that is all!!) When you ask this doctor to fulfill her professional obligations, she becomes indignant and can even resort to name calling. Yes, this "DOCTOR", will resort to name calling when you ask her to do her job and issue out a report that has already been paid for. She asked for $35 dollar checks, in her name, cashed them and still has not issued the reports. I will not resort to inferring anything about this doctor and her methods. I am shocked at how people leave reviews here. I have been taking my mother to Dr Sheikh for about a year now. First she is the sweetest lady I have ever met! She is my mothers 4th dr in 5 years and finally we found a specialist that is not just about business. Other doctors I would take my mother would do random test and make her wait and never help my mother just act like they are just to charge my mothers insurance. From the first time we met Dr sheikh she made us feel like we have known her for years. She has been helping my mother with her nerve damages! She has also gave my mother a list of things to do at home that has been helping. She is a genuine human and not just about the money. The issue I noticed is not her it's some of her patients who have no respect for anyone and start problems with other her staff for no reason. I agree with the other review posted. This office needs some help scheduling patients. My first appointment was at 3:00pm. I checked in and the office staff left at 5:00pm. Then I started hearing the doctor yelling "next" from the back office. How am I supposed to know who's next? I've never seen an operation like this. Then a patient who came in an hour after me got up when she said next and went in before me. I guess next means who ever can get up the fastest and run into her office first. No organization or professionalism at all. When I finally did get in to see the doctor at 6:15p (3 hours and 15 min after my scheduled time which is ridiculous and unacceptable, she spent 5 minutes with me and then tried to talk me into signing up for this $3000 treatment she does that insurance does not cover. If you have to see this provided because you have no choice I recommend scheduling the first appointment in the morning to avoid what apparently happens on a daily basis. She gets 2-3 hours behind schedule then starts calling next from the back office like the deli counter at the supermarket. But I think even they make you take a number and are somewhat fair about it. If I can give negative ratings, I would. If don't care about professionalism or compassion, this is the perfect place. Don't expect anyone to pick up when you call and if you get a call back, it will most likely be the Physician calling you back. When you answer, the first thing you will be greeted with on the other end is asking you if you called... not a, "Hi, this is so and so calling you back." March 2015 I've been here 3 times. The first time, my appointment was at 2:30p I was seen at 5:30 (waited 3 hrs and15 min..) the front desk left at 5p and there were still many patients waiting. The doctor would just say next and that's how the next patient would go in. When it was my turn to go in the doctor asked me a few questions said she was going to do an eeg test and a nerve test, she took 5 minutes with me and since there was no front desk anymore I had to call the next day to schedule my appointments. It was unusual for me, I've never seen the front desk go home and leave patients there. I said oh maybe it was a busy day today. Second time I went for my eeg test. I waited 2 hours because they scheduled 2 appointments at the same time.. this time my appointment was earlier so the staff was still there went I left home. For the eeg test you're not supposed to wash your hair. I was never told not to do it. So like anybody that has a doctors appointment I took a shower and was on my way. Anyways she ended up doing it like that and my results were gonna be ready in 2 weeks (she did the eeg test in a laptop). 2 weeks past (today) and I went to my appointment it was scheduled at 3:30p.. I signed in and an hour past, the clerk called me. She said they didn't have an appointment scheduled for me. I told her that she had scheduled it and that I was there for results. She said ok take a seat. 50 minutes passed and I was called in the same way as the first time because it was 5:20 and the staff went home at 5p. When I went in the doctor said she was not gonna be able to give me my results because the girls (staff) took the laptop. She said I should have been there when they were still there (the staff). I said I was, I've been here since 3:30. Without apologizing for the time I had to wait for nothing, she said that she was gonna call me tomorrow with the results, that if I don't hear from her by 3 to give them a call. I was really upset that after 2 weeks I couldn't get my results that I was really waiting for. not only that but I have to be reminding them to call me with my results? The long waits and for nothing. I will be talking to my doctor to see if I can be refered somewhere else and praying I get my results tomorrow. Can't trust someone like that with my health. I don't recommend it to anyone. I wouldn't give it a star but had no option. (The front desk is nice though) September 2015 It has been 6 months for me and still havent heard from them. I've called twice after my post for my results and I just didnt get them. I didnt bother anymore.. I talked to my doctor to get referred somewhere else.. it's been a while too and nothing. Dr. SHEIKH is a wonderful Neurologist! I have been going to her for over 1 year. She is very knowledgeable and caring. She is conservative when it comes to issuing medication and injections. ( she does NOT over prescribe!) Yes her wait time may be a bit long sometimes but she works 2 other clinics and 2 hospitals. A GOOD Dr. Is worth the wait! So if you are impatient and want a Dr that will prescribe you anything then find someone else!! I have had many bad experiences with other doctors but not her. The Physical Therapist Mona is the best!! She listens to you and pays attention to your pain and after your P/T you feel great!!! The staff is friendly and enthusiastic about their work. When I initially made an appointment, I was told by a receptionist to make it for 10:30 (2nd appointment of the day) since her exact words were "The Dr. is always late." Heeding her advice, I made an appointment (for an initial evaluation) for 10:30 for 5/5/17. Willing to give Dr. Sheikh the benefit of the doubt (after reading these yelp reviews), I arrived at 10:20, filled out paperwork, and sat back to wait -for what I hoped was a reasonable amount of time. No such luck. At 11:10 I had yet to see anyone be called back. I got up and asked the receptionist if I would be seen soon. She told me Dr. Sheikh had not arrived, and when she got there that I would have one patient in front of me. Remembering what the receptionist had told me when I had made my initial appointment, I instructed them to cancel the appointment. At 11:30 the office manager called me on my cell to relate the doctor had finally arrived and was ready to see me. I related my appointment had been for an hour earlier and told her not to call me again. From this experience, everything (negative) you have read on yelp about Dr. Sheikh is indeed true. This person and her staff are crooks. Cashing checks and not following through with appointments, paperwork, etc. The front desk either has no one there, or some overworked, angry nut. Also, highly suspicious that she works in multiple offices, but she does not receive mail at any of them (Multiple letters sent to them come back as returned mail). Their office phone line is sounds like a tin can on a string. Her receptionist? medical assistant? got so fed up answering the phone one day, she started handing out Dr Sheikh's personal cell phone. Absolutely bizarre and unprofessional experience. Needs her license pulled. **EDIT/UPDATE** It appears this "doctor" can leave comments on my Yelp review, but when I try to call to clear up the matter, all they'll do is take down my name and phone number. To clarify, this "doctor" requested an $80 fee to complete a disability assessment form. She took the check, cashed the check, and then never completed the form. Despite contacting their office via telephone and letter on the following dates: 06/30/15, 08/07/15, 08/19/15, 08/26/15, 09/29/15, 10/21/15 - I have not received the form OR the payment back. I had to resort to leaving a bad review on Yelp. She apparently is able to comment on an internet review, but doesn't have the time to complete medical business/work she is paid to do. I'm totally disappointed with the Professionalism of Dr.Sheikh and her concern for me as a patient.Ive had migraines for over 30 years and have been a patient of hers for about 5years. I come in 1 x every 3 months for Botox injections . Ive had to do a lot of foot work myself to Make sure the authorization was done right and then had to call a day before or that morning to make sure that there was Botox in the office! I was asked by her to give her a good review on yelp,which I did. But this was the last Damm Straw !!!I was asked by the front desk staff to change my insurance from Health Net to anthem blue Cross and order to get my next set of Botox shots. Which I did and had to wait like 45 days to get a referral from the new primary care for Dr.Sheiks office. Well yesterday I get a call that Dr.Sheiks no longer takes this insurance either so I did all this for nothing! Now I'm left without shots and 2 months over due!! I don't ever post negative comment in regard to businesses. By far this is the worse doctor office I have ever been to. The staffs don't know what they're doing, and very lazy. One of the absolute worst places to ever go to because the "Dr." Sheikh has absolutely no sense of time because she is always late and sometimes she decides to take a day off and cancel all of her appointments. We have had to go more than a couple of times for the same issue that could have been solved in the first visit. We had to wait one month to finally go and get a test done and turns out one of the assistants cancelled the appointment and then someone else called from the office to reschedule the appointment for the same day and when we went in, they told us that we had no appointment and we were out of luck. It seems these bad reviews don't show the real picture, the whole picture. The fact is, Dr Sheikh is a very good doctor. I trust her with my health everyday. Dr. Sheikh has been my neurologist for over 7 years. In that time I have spent plenty of time in the waiting room, plenty of time interacting with her staff and plenty of time in front of her. She is a very caring and compassionate doctor. She is a rarity nowadays. She has an old fashioned office, the type where the doctor sits there and listens to you until you finish talking. She has never rushed me out of her office. Most doctors are in a hurry, she isn't, nor keeps tabs on a clock. She is very informal. Her cell number is listed on the answering machine. She is one of the few doctors in the Sacramento area that prescribes pain medication if you have pain (verifiable). How common is that nowadays? Therefore, I am not surprised at the amount of people that pack her office. She didn't ignore my chronic condition & expect me to live with it. Nor am I surprised her office is called 'disorganized'. Yes, I waited 2hrs a time or two, wished my referrals were processed faster, and I stayed after the Front desk staff 'left' at 5:30pm.....but that it nothing in comparison to having a good doctor that addresses my condition. How good is that? (Actually, the Front desk is never alone, there are security cameras everywhere that she monitors from her desktop). My primary care doctor, and many other primary care doctors refuse to prescribe pain medication for pain. The primary care doctor will cite the DEA as the reason for this. In today's world, the DEA directly instructs primary care doctors how to prescribe pain medication. Primary care doctors are no longer allowed to prescribe pain medication at their discretion, regardless of the amount of pain involved. I guess I'm lucky then, I have a spine condition that is degenerative and shows up on film (x-rays, MRI, etc). After 3 spine surgeries, I don't expect my spine to rejuvenate or to ever be 'normal'. The pain I experience is constant, chronic. Thanks to pain medication I am not bed bound. Yet the fear of the DEA &/or Pain Management is that pain meds will be abused. Under those auspices, and because of a few malingerers(abusers) too many patients with legitimate pain that doesn't show up on film (x-rays, MRI,etc) must suffer in silence with no relief. Patients with painful conditions require pain medication just like a diabetic requires insulin. Sadly, nowadays, you can't go to a doctor's office (or the ER,) complaining of pain without them looking at you funny. They assume you there shopping around for narcotics. Dr Sheikh is one of the rare doctors that continues to practice old fashioned medicine by treating pain. She is also one of the very few doctors who offers oxygen treatment (Hyperbaric) in Sacramento. She is one of the few doctors that treats autism. I can only assume, that she is the only doctor's office that can perform electro-stimulation physical therapy, an electromyogram (EMG) test, an electroencephalogram (EEG) test, gives nerve blocks, and affordable oxygen therapy, all in one location, without having to go offsite. No wonder it appears disorganized. In fact, she believes in education too; many students interns have earned their school training at Dr. Sheikh's office. Just like UCD hospital is known as a teaching facility, so is Dr. Sheikh's office. Most importantly, she is one of the few doctors that takes Medi-Cal. How many neurologist take MediCal? Not many. She is not there for the money. She can't order any test without knowing the type of insurance we have. I have also been there for many appointments where there were no wait times, and also have had referrals processed timely, and got same day appointments too. It really all depends on the amount of time she spends with each patient. That's the way she works. If she spends 20 min with two patients, or more, it adds up to hours of wait time after a while. But I wouldn't change it for the world, nor would I change for a doctor that speaks to me for less than 3 minutes at each visit, like most other doctors. I highly recommend Dr. Sheikh read more

I have been trying to go to a neurologist for almost 3 years now. Finally my doctor sent me to Dr. Firdos. After EEG and EKG she let me know that my pain wasn't in my head. I have Neuropathy and Carpal Tunnel. Since I'm only in my late 30's shes has being very attentive and running more tests to see what is the underlying problems. When I went the first time, the waiting area was full patients. No one told me anything until I asked what was going on and found out the Doctor was running late (not sure why the office didn't call to let us know). The staff was kind enough to reschedule me for the next day. The next day, my appointment was for 11:15 am. I waited for a half hour and when I asked when I would be seen, I was told that the Doctor doesn't get in till later. I asked why an appointment would even be scheduled for a time when she is not in. I think we finally went in around 1pm and she took 3 phone calls on her cell phone (2 of them were personal) during my new patient consultation. There was no communication regarding what might be wrong, but 3-4 tests have been ordered. Hopefully she will have time to see me afterwards. Other than being unprofessional in taking personal calls, taking a patient phone call while others are in the room is bordering on a violation of doctor-patient confidentiality. Who is to say when I call, she will take it when she is with others? (As we all know, it is not that difficult to overhear a call on a cell phone.) Dr. Shiekh is horrible doctor. My brother has a severe case of epilepsy and needs his meds daily. He has ran out of his medication and we have been waiting for 3 weeks and she still has not authorized my brothers medication. Since he has not taken his meds he has been having severe episodes. I can't stand to watch my brother to go through with this and it's getting worse. All of these positive reviews I can promise you is someone she knows or has someone to give her good reviews. What a nightmare! Be prepared to sit for hours if you have Medi-Cal! But that isn't the worst part. That I can deal with. They called me up to go for a nerve test. After supposedly getting authorization. I had no idea how painful this test would be and I left after sobbing and in tears. Then they called me about 3 weeks later to get an EEG. I had to go for a follow up to get all the test results. She realized that they had never gotten the authorization. So she refused to give me any test results. So I went through all that for nothing. Even though it was their mistake. During my appointment she called in one of the office staff and proceeded to yell at her in front of me and even fired her when I expressed how upset I was that she wouldn't give me my test results she basically reprimanded me for getting upset and when I called her on firing her staff in front of me she just said" its not a perfect world." read more

The worse doctors office I have ever been to. I took my grandma, who has severe Alzheimer's, to Dr. Sheikh's office as were referred over from her physician. The appointment was originally for the 28th but Dr. Sheikh's staff called asking to change the appointment (don't know why). So we change the appointment and we go in today. We go in and fill out a 5 page packet. Then, we wait for about 1/2 an hour (til 2:30..her appointment was for 2) to go to a room with a medical assistant. This young lady asks about EVERYTHING on the forms we filled out about the medical history and Alzheimer's. Then, she keeps asking my grandma questions when she knows my grandma can't speak English and secondly, the poor old lady has ALZHEIMER'S. I answer to the best of my ability. At this point my grandma is already anxious because she's not used to unfamiliar places. We go out to the waiting room where there's no water for patients or even a bathroom nearby. At this point it's already almost 3. My grandma is on the verge of an anxiety attack. So, my mom asks when we can see the doctor. They say 30-45 mins. We finally see the doctor at 4. My grandma and I go sit in front of the doctors desk. Dr. Sheikh completely ignores us and is on the phone with her daughter talking about an uhaul for about 10-15 mins, ignoring our presence. My grandma is just trying to leave at this point because she's been there for three hours. Then, Dr. Sheikh starts calling in her Medical assistants and yelling at them about mistakes they made with patients. SO UNPROFESSIONAL.. Then, she finally says "is this (my grandmas last name)" and then she looks at the paperwork and asks why we're here. Did you not review our paper work before we came to you? She ended up telling us she needed "proof" that my grandma had Alzheimer's and that we needed to bring any paper work to her because people "lie" about diseases. She saw my grandma, the primary doctor sent over everything she had, what do you mean you need us to grab the paperwork for you? She didn't even look over the paper work we filled out or the doctor sent Then, she said we'd have to take a bunch of tests and my grandma could do physical therapy. I was so flustered at the end of the appointment. We wasted 3 hours to be told we need proof and there needs to be tests done before she would treat my grandma. NEVER will I take my grandma back there. It's crazy how doctors like Dr. Sheikh will disrespect and try to squeeze every penny out of an old lady.
