Always provides quality service. If Mr. Rogers had a son, it would be Dan. If Wilson from Castaway was a real-life person with a boatload (or raft) of compassion, it would be Dan. If it was Dan on that door in Titanic, Jack would still be drawing French Girls. He is so down to earth, yet operates in the upper echelon of being a classy stand-up guy. Put some sunscreen on because if you are fortunate enough to be a patient of his, he'll brighten up your day! 11 out of 10 Dentists would recommend him.

The memorial features an amazing bronze sculpture titled the protector. It is the work of Matthew Placzek and depicts a firefighter carrying a young girl while supporting a second, kneeling firefighter. You can feel the sculptures pride and pain. It was donated by Firefighters Union 385. The memorial's plaza area is set up in a circular formation with the stature in the center. There is a bench for visitor to sit and reflect in the area and there are 3 flag poles waving the American Flag in the center, flanked by the Nebraska State flag to its left and another flag to its right. The place is well lit at night and is well maintained. Its landscaping was in excellent shape and firefighters volunteer periodically to take care of it. There are two granite pillars that are about waist height, one marked with "Honor" and the other marked with "Tradition". The one with the word Honor has a bronze plaque on top of it that lists the 55+ Omaha firefighters that made the ultimate sacrfafice. The other pillar has a plaque on it that gives a history of Omaha firefighting, the union, and ends with a quote by Omaha Fire Department Chief Eugene Fields who died of pneumonia on January 8, 1962 after leaving a hospital bed to respond to a two-alarm fire. The quote reads, "Firemanship is a peculiar vocation steeped in tradition. The man who joins just to have a job shouldn't be a fireman. There's sort of a fraternity that surrounds men who face danger together. The fire department becomes a part of you and you of it." This is an awesome memorial and a fitting tribute to Omaha Bravest that made the ultimate sacrifice, but I do understand that this is probably not a destination attraction. so, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 10 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip.

So, I've been coming here for awhile (about 3 years). I've bought some boxes and items when I've…read moreneeded them. I went to drop off packages today with my kid and the owner came up and asked me what I was buying today. I was taken a back and I said that I didn't need anything. She told me they didn't get credit for prepaid postage. I seriously did not have my wallet on me. She said most people would give them $1/package. (I usually send out 5-20 packages a day.) I was then asked where I was from... I said here? And then asked very strange questions like where in Omaha? And where specifically? She then told me they needed all the help they can get and proceeded to show me a bunch of Christmas items. It was a strange interaction. The place was very cluttered and the items for sale looked outdated. I don't know if she wanted me to take the Christmas items or not? She said some guy was supposed to take them. ‍ I've only used them in a pinch and won't be again because I cannot spend $1/package for items I already have postage on. I feel bad for a struggling business. This isn't the way to go about it.

Two of the docents kindly arranged for our group to visit last Monday (outside of the normal…read morehours). They gave us a great tour which included several stories about historical and modern railway transportation. There are many intriguing exhibits within the old Depot building. Although some painting and dusting are needed, that just adds to the overall atmosphere. Very interesting!

She gave us a tour and plenty of info, beginning with the exterior cars and caboose (that is made of wood and is 140+ years old) and ending in the interior of the building. The interior is complete with three rooms, each filled with historical artifacts, photos, furniture and more. I was pleasantly surprised at all the info that Connie, a worker for the railroad herself, had to offer. She is a perfect fit for this museum that is operated solely by volunteers. The Historic Florence Depot is a must for railroad and history enthusiasts alike. The depot is open on weekends June through August. Though tours are free, I highly suggest donating a little something to keep the place going. Enjoy!

I've also always been impressed with the sales rep giving us reasonable guidance/estimates instead of just upselling us on every product/service they offer. Recently, we installed a pool in our backyard and wanted a security camera for safety and liability reasons. I called on a Monday, had our rep visit for an estimate/consult on a Tuesday, and by that following Friday had John out for the install. John was professional: he left the space clean, he explained how to work our new equipment/the app, even showed us a few other things we could do with our system, and was so sweet/understanding in dealing with our puppy (who just wanted to follow John everywhere!) I highly recommend SEI. I love that our security providers are local to our region, which I think makes them so reliable and helpful!
