FireClay Cellars is one of those hidden gems that makes exploring North Carolina wine country so rewarding. We stopped by on a Sunday just before opening and were warmly welcomed by Chris and Susan, who immediately made us feel at home. Their hospitality set the tone for a wonderful tasting experience. We started with two tasting flights, working our way through the whites before moving on to the reds. The standout of the day was Summer Dreams, a refreshing and playful white that's both floral and elegant. It was the perfect wine for a warm afternoon, and we enjoyed it so much that we ordered a chilled bottle to share on-site. The Summer Dreams paired wonderfully with an assortment of everything crackers, salami, and a delicious goat cheese tapenade from Celebrity Dairy Farm. We had planned to wander outside and explore the vineyard views from the porch, but the summer heat had other plans! Before leaving, we picked up a bottle of Purple Martin to take home. This semi-sweet red delivers inviting plum and black cherry flavors. The wines were excellent, the setting was charming, and the service was genuinely welcoming. Beautiful spot to enjoy wine with a view of the vineyard. We shared two flights, tasting a variety of reds, rose, whites and sparkling. The flights were a bit pricey ($18). There were two that I really enjoyed: Chardonel 2022 (white) and Fireside 2021 (red). The inside is spacious and the service was great! This would be an excellent venue for a party or small reception. Overall, I'd give it 4.5 stars (if Yelp allowed). read more

This was our second visit to Fireclay. IMO, it is one of the few consistently good wineries in this area of NC. We had the flight of 4 wines for $16 and really enjoyed the Chardonnay Reserve and Fireside (Chambourcin, Cab Sav, and Tannat). Cute tasting room, friendly staff, and lovely outdoor area. read more

This winery is beautiful! It is located on a long, windy road off of US-64 W. My mom and I split the white and red flight. We also had a locally made cheese with crackers. After that we both got a glass of the sparkling traminette and sat outside. We enjoyed our experience here so much and left with a few bottles to enjoy at home! Very cool winery out in the country near Siler city. The tasting room is spacious and open and very comfy, and there's a ton of outside seating. You can't go wrong, sitting out on any of the porches that overlook the grapevines or farm next door. Service is great, and the wines and mead are really good. If I had a complaint, it's the fact that tastings are $12, and they come with four 1+ ounce pours that come in plastic cups. They give you a glass to pour them into, But the tasting is slightly over priced compared to most wineries in North Carolina for what you get. And that's a small complaint. Otherwise, this place is awesome. I highly recommend. read more

I really should have taken pictures, but I was too busy tasting the wines. This place is down a quiet country road and there are some beautiful views of the hills and wildlife on the drive. The house is beautiful and spacious. Really a nice place to relax and sip a glass or bottle of wine. So the wines here are complex and interesting. They have a variety of whites and reds. They have a nice rose which is semi-sweet. While I didn't care for the honey apple wine I loved the Chambourin and Valvin Muscat. The Red blend is also nice and we have to a good family friend. I have a lovely talk with the lead grape grower (I am sure there is a proper title for this). But he told us about how the grapes were selected and harvested. I really enjoyed the knowledge and the wine. It is a smaller winery so definitely had a coziness to it. They are hosting some events and recently had a farm to table dinner. I hope to be able to get out to one of there events. read more

Nice little winery located in the middle of nowhere. I was planning for a little weekend escape out of the blue and this place popped up in my search. Clean, well organized, friendly. The only knock probably is how limited the choices avaliable are. I have ordered their wine tasting option and tried 4 of their 9 current offerings. Meets expectation, but slightly pricy. Considering that it's a local business, not sure if there's much room for improvement unless it expands. Solid 4 stars and I might visit again. read more

This is a cute little winery close to Fearrington that I'd highly recommend! Some friends and I decided to have a social distance picnic out here recently, and it was the perfect place to do so. There were plenty of tables outside, with shade covers, that you can reserve -- and everything is spaced out properly. The tasting room is large enough to wait for your turn to grab a glass of wine, too! Wine flights are $8 and a glass is either $8 or $9. I'd love to return and enjoy the indoor space more when it's safe to do so, but in the meantime their outdoor options are perfect. read more

Great place and an asset to Siler City. I'm not a wine connoisseur but I had fun at this place in the country. They have some great wines. There is outdoor seating with a great view - you can sit outside and enjoy your wine or go wander around the vineyard. It's family owned and operated and there is a nice sized selection. read more

I came across this place looking for new wines to try. They have parking both in the front and in the back of the building. When you arrive inside, the layout and decor is beautiful. They have a small outdoor seating with some patio furniture and table. They have side balcony seating as well that overlooks the vineyard. Inside there is ample of seating with a smaller upstairs sections. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was no crowded at all. They allow you to do wine tastings for $10 which includes 4 two oz samples. I also had a piece of dove chocolate on my tray which was nice. The owners of this winery were very nice and helpful. I sampled 4 wines and bought two bottles to take home. My bill was only $52! I was glad to know that they ship their wines because I really enjoyed the Mulled Red Wine. It gives me Fall/Thanksgiving vibes and would love it have it during the holiday season. read more

My wife and I really enjoyed our first visit here. It is a beautiful small winery with a very pleasant staff. The owners were there when we went and also were very welcoming and friendly. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the wines and guided us in our tasting selections with several questions about our preferences in wines. She did an excellent job as we thoroughly enjoyed all of our samples. The tasting are served in disposable cups due to the current situation, but still a generous pour. We purchased some crackers and an additional glass each as we quickly found some new favorites. The building is decorated very nice and the vines just outside are beautiful on the rolling hillsides. I love Fireclay Cellars! I moved from CA and love wineries and wine tasting. However, I typically really dislike NC wine because they are too sweet. Fireclay has done a great job bringing drier European style wines to NC, as well as some sweeter options for those who prefer that. Also, going to the winery is a little escape and so peaceful. They have some animals (ducks, guinea hens) on the property that help eat the bugs and their neighbors have adorable goats, etc. They recently released a new red wine (chambourcin) and a Reserve, which I LOVE. They also have great chardonels and rose. The winery itself is clean, well decorated, and adorable. You can freely walk around the vineyards, which is also nice. Sue, Andre, and Eric (the owners - who are family!) are wonderful. They are friendly, kind, knowledgable. read more

FireClay Cellars is a lovely winery! We moved back to the area recently and had lived near the Northern Virginia wine trail prior so we love our wineries. The tasting room is beautiful and modern with tasteful art and plenty of space. Grounds are immaculate and they have ducks and guinea fowl running around, which are fun to watch. We enjoyed all their wines but especially liked their Reserve Red blend, we can't wait to try their Rose when available. We were excited about the different varietals they had since we aren't big on muscadine and scuppernong which seems common in this area. We can't wait to come back! read more

If you like wine, this is definitely a winery to check out in NC. It departs from the typical NC Muscadine grape wine picture by using hybrid vines that produce much dryer and deep flavored wines. I find a lot of wine made in NC to be way too sweet, but not here. Everything is local and the tasting room really is brand new and tastefully done. You can make a day of it by visiting nearby baby goats and alpacas. Will definitely visit again. read more

This winery is beautiful! The decorations and furniture both within and outside of the building were beautiful! It was very light and airy. There were plenty of picnic tables and seating outside and inside socially distanced of course. But the biggest reason I'm giving this place five stars are the owners. My friends and I called an Uber out there so we could avoid drinking and driving and we weren't able to get an Uber, Lyft, taxi, anything to come get us since it's out in the country. My boyfriend asked the owner if he knew any taxi services that would come get us and he LITERALLY OFFERED TO DRIVE US TO THE CLOSEST TOWN!!! He was so sweet and wouldn't accept any money. He drove us all to the closest town and waited with us until we were able to get an Uber back to our Air BnB. He really went above and beyond with his customer service and helped us out in a big way. His wife was also very sweet and helpful when we got our wine tastings. read more
