We were absolutely blown away by this beautiful property, which looks just like a castle. The drive down the lane offers a gorgeous view of the beautiful grapevines. We dined at the bistro and enjoyed one of the best meals we have ever had, paired with truly fabulous wines. Our server, Ireland, was incredibly sweet, and the entire staff was exceptionally helpful and welcoming. We even had the pleasure of spotting Richard Childress having lunch with his family during our visit. We highly recommend this spot and would easily be weekly regulars if we lived nearby. read more

I had a great time during the Taste of Childress wine tasting. When you drive up, the property and greenery is very lovely. The wine tasting room was pretty with a nice layout. Rhonda and Anne were fabulous! They were very personable and equally as knowledgeable. The wine pairings with the food were good. I believe it was chips and hummus, a beef crostini, bacon wrapped date, and a chocolate shot. The food was good. I just wish the crostini was a little hotter and the chips are good with the hummus did taste a slight bit stale. The wine was the star of the show. I even found a red wine that I liked and I don't like red wines. The people in the tasting were So friendly and I enjoyed their company. I also got truffles/chocolate before I left. They were not bad, they just weren't my favorite. I would try other options because there were a lot to choose from. I would love to come back during one of their speciality events. Beautiful tasting room and grounds this winery owned by Richard Childress of NASCAR fame is well known in this area. We came on a busy Saturday and the pourer said this was how it was when it was a race day down in Charlotte. People were bringing their little kids along with them to get their wine on before the race....yikes. The tasting room was nice as I said, large and full of wine to purchase and swag to buy. There were a number of different places in the tasting room (building), I think I counted five places you in different parts of the building you could taste wine. There is a bistro in a separate building, it seemed okay, we didn't get food. The wine was decent, but not stellar, so that is the four instead of five star from me. Worth a visit if you're heading up or down to Charlotte or just are in the area. read more

I visited this place as a surprise and upon arrival, it's obvious that grounds are well kept year-round. It's a beautiful vineyard and I was super excited to explore and walk around. After being greeted in the main building, we were directed to enjoy the scenic route or walk directly towards the back of the building to enjoy the live music. There's an open space behind the main building with a small stage to enjoy live music, or if you're more a bookworm like myself you can grab a chair near the small lake. I enjoyed lunch in the Bistro (it was an earlier lunch because they were closing earlier for a private event - it's a beautiful space so I can see why) - the lunch menu offered a variety of items of if you're just interested in dessert, then you can grab something from the front and enjoy the weather. This beautiful place could easily get crowded on a weekend so I'd recommend reservations, just to ensure that you have a table without the wait. I decided to go with a wrap with grilled chicken and it was seasoned just right and was complimented with the perfect amount of fries. But the highlight of my lunch (besides the wine, lol) was the sweet tea - as a southerner, it hit the spot. A private tour was scheduled for me and that's probably where I made up my mind that I'd be back to visit this place. The tour guide was personable and she knew her stuff. Not to mention, I was able to enjoy fresh grapes from the vineyard (yum!). I fell in love with a couple of their signature wines, so I grabbed a couple of bottles from the gift shop - it's also offers a great opportunity to grab a few gifts for family and friends. I'd recommend this place for an easy Saturday or Sunday as it's great way to relax and recharge - but if you're feeling inclined to stay there's a hotel available near the vineyards (walking distance). We were able to get a few vegan options which was great, I really wish we could have a vegan dessert but there was none. It's never been bad, but tonight all the stars aligned and everything was on point! The manager is very professional, the servers are exceptional, and the food and wine....delectable! We had a bottle of the Jewel Soft White and started with the pimento cheese dip served with pork rinds. The Hubster had Braised Short ribs and I had the Petite Salmon. Perfect size servings for us. This was really cool and pretty big. If I were to strategize, I'd say definitely make a reservation and plan ahead - check a few days before - to have the best experience. We decided to pop in on a Saturday, and at that point, tours had been booked up for the day, as well as the bistro. We sat outside to listen to music, and they had a little snack bar at out there with a limited selection of wine and snacks. We then enjoyed a tasting in the gift shop. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and it was an enjoyable experience. They are so nice and will put chocolates and a card on the table for the birthday boy/girl. We love to share the Pimento Cheese Dip with Pork Rinds. I tried Austin's (can't completely remember what it's called?) Chicken Sandwich with wedges and it was so yummy! The restaurant is beautiful and feels so fancy when you go. It's more expensive than your regular lunch spots, but it's worth every cent. We had a lovely server named Krista and she was excellent! A beautiful estate vineyard, with tasting room, bistro and retail shop. This chateau is quite expansive and the grounds are amazing. All of the staff we encountered were friendly, and the lady that poured our flight was kind and knowledgeable. We got our tasting flights and headed outside to a sunny spot on the afternoon of our midweek visit. Where we sat and enjoyed the views and our wine. Came here for Mother's Day. My 1st visit here. This was soo good! It's located right off of the highway, but at the same time its hidden away, so when you enter its unexpected. The grounds are really maintained well. The inside is just as beautiful with picturesque views of the vineyard. There's a lake with sitting areas, a gazebo for events, a bistro, a souvenir store with a variety of great items and a mini bakery. They do offer a membership if you visit often. I haven't looked into what that includes but it's a great place to frequent. You also have the option of visiting without a reservation/membership for tastings. They had live music as well. I highly recommend visiting. Good for a date, girls day trip, private events or to just relax. read more

One of my favorite wineries around, Childress never disappoints! There's a lot to do, I've never had the chance to try their bistro but I will eventually. Their wine is stellar, I love their tastings they cost about $20 and you get 4 pours and you get to keep the glasses too! The service is pretty quick they keep the place well staffed. This time around I got their sweet wine flight and their mimosa flight which is seasonal and they also have seasonal slushie flavors! And the scenery is breathtaking, from the moment you drive in and go through the vineyards leading up to the building, it's an experience to behold. Such a grand place! Visited on a sunday with two of my friends. We had made advanced online reservations for their "Luxe Wine Tasting" you get to choose 6 wines of your choosing to taste out of the 10 they offer. Our hostess was super attentive and gave us great knowledge on all of the wines we chose and what food options pair well with the wines we were tasting. Now ot does has this wine tasting is 60min but make note, it can def go over. They are not kicking you out after one hour. They let you take your time and enjoy the wines which I thought was great. You can really enjoy your time, catching up while sampling wine at your own pace and not have to chug it all down. Grand house with a lovely room to enjoy the wines. Afterwards had reservations at the Bistro which was a big grand room. Ordered their pasta, salmon and chicken Greek salad. All tasted Devine and had no complaints! Sat outside afterwards on their many patio chairs and tables. We did not go into their gift shop which I am sad about but that just means another wine tasting coming soon! Had the wonderful opportunity to visit this vineyard this weekend for a wine tasting. Our sommelier Roxanne was wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable on the wines. We had the opportunity to taste 6 wines out of a choice of 12 that ranged from sweet to dry. I love that each one had a different story. This is my 2nd time visiting the vineyard and it's even more beautiful the second time around. Staff was absolutely the best, as always. This was my 1st time eating at the bistro and it was chefs kiss. I recommend the fried shrimp devil eggs as an appetizer. We got done with brunch a little early and had over an hour before our wine tasting started, so we visited the indoor gift shop then headed to the pond to sit and listen to the live music. We got some gift card for Childress Vineyard. Since we do not drink wine we decided to get dinner at the onsite restaurant (Bistro). The service was OK. The atmosphere was terrible. It is a big open room where they hold wedding receptions. Very loud, you can hear everybody's conversation. Finally, the food was below average and the price was above average. We had steak and salmon. Both were small portions. I normally do not rate places. But we cannot recommend this place.
