    Salt and Pepper Shakers

This place is so cool! My husband and I painted salt and pepper shakers and they turned out SO GOOD! It's a little pricey, but for what it is it's so worth it. They fire and clear glaze your ceramics for you and it was ready to pick up the next week.

My daughter treated me to this wonderful place and it was the best experience. We came in on a Sunday morning without a reservation and had the place to ourselves. The girl at the counter was helpful and the owner was really nice. The place was clean and well organized. We picked the mother and baby elephant and it took us more than 3 hours to finish, but they never rushed us. The owner also made sure we had our ceramics before my daughter went back to college. Highly recommend!

The place is secluded, friendly, lots of options of pottery, and fun! Went on a date, picked our mugs and painted them together. The music was great, the ambiance was perfect, they were promoting a fun upcoming event, and I overheard a conversation about summer programs for kids.

Such a fun place to visit! I came here with my MIL on Saturday morning. We had the place to ourselves which was so relaxing. They have so many ceramic pieces and paints to choose from. All you have to pay is $5 for admission in addition to the price of your ceramics. I spent a total of $35. You have to wait a week for them to glaze and fire your items. So excited to pick mine up! I can't wait to come back to bring my friends to adult night!

A fun creative day with my Granddaughters in the cutest studio with a nice selection for the girls to paint. Plenty of tables and room for everyone. We were not the only ones on a Monday morning, which was nice to see. Firefly is a hidden gem of a place with courteous and patient staff to answer questions and help everyone out. Looks like the turnaround time is about 7 days. They also offer mosaics which is a good idea for another trip in. Looking forward to other activity!

This was my first time going to this type of activity!! I really like how relaxing and calm the atmosphere is. Your greeted and helped as soon as you walk into the door! They have sooooo many ceramics options to choose from so many that it took my partner and I about 8 mins to choose them we were literally standing at the shelves because there were so many good choices. I can't wait to go back.

Love love love this business. Personable, warm, welcoming and a small local business we are more than happy to support. The staff is very helpful and responsive and their community events and pottery options are above and beyond.

FireFly Ceramics is better therapy for me than all the the therapists I've ever seen put together. Therapists are generally a huge waste of money; FireFly Ceramics never is. Laurie, the owner, is as cool as a cucumber and generally unflappable. I've been in there a lot with my wild five-year-old son and his friends and even after they create a shitshow of epic proportions in the shop, no one complains. If I were the staff there, I'd be putting the little Visigoths into the 2000 degree kiln as quickly as possible, with glee in my eyes as they were turned into inert ash. But the staff is way more patient than I am, so you gotta give them that. And generally, all the lovely ladies who work there are sweet, cute, and competent at their job. So what more could you want?? Me?? Nothing. FireFly Ceramics is perfect as is. I wouldn't change a thing!!

When will you have snowglobes available to paint? I'm planning a trip from LA and my friend and I really want to make snowglobes.

We always have snow globes you can attach to any piece of pottery.

What a wonderful experience. Clay Cafe is absolutely mom-and-daughter approved!…read more I originally came across the idea of painting pottery while visiting Vista, California. I wanted to do something different and special with my mom, who is almost 80, incredibly active, full of spirit, and has worked hard her entire life. She had never really been in a setting where she could simply sit down, paint, and explore her creative side, so I wanted to surprise her with something new. While we were still in Vista, we briefly parked and I started looking up pottery-painting places closer to the LA County area. That is when I came across Clay Cafe. We were already beginning our drive back toward home, so I decided to take a chance on it even though it was still about 30 minutes from us. I'm so glad I did. This is a family-owned business run by a mother-and-daughters team who are artists themselves, and you can really feel the care they've put into the space. They were welcoming, helpful, patient, and genuinely kind from the moment we walked in. We picked out our pottery and ended up spending almost THREE HOURS painting! The time flew by because we were having such a great time together. There are plenty of paints, tools, and creative options, and the guidance they provide is wonderful without making you feel rushed. They also have a cafe next door with coffee, cookies, and other goodies. If you have a sweet tooth, definitely try the cookies--they are huge! We enjoyed iced coffee and a cappuccino while we were there. I will say that this isn't the cheapest pottery-painting experience, but I felt the quality, materials, tools, atmosphere, and assistance made it worth it. My shark piggy bank was around $60 and my mom chose a vase around $50, so with everything we spent roughly $130-$140 for the two of us, depending of course on what pottery you choose. After you finish painting, they glaze and fire your pieces. They took our contact information, and about two weeks later we received a text letting us know everything was ready. We picked up our finished pottery today and were SO happy with how it turned out. They welcome walk-ins, although I would recommend making a reservation, especially if you want to settle in and really enjoy the experience. Parking was also easy since they are in a small plaza shared with 7-Eleven. They also host fun events, including a plant bingo where you can apparently win plants, so definitely check their current schedule. For me, though, the best part was simply getting to sit across from my mom, paint together, laugh, talk, and watch her creative side come out. That memory alone was worth every penny. Wonderful family-owned business, wonderful people, and such a fun experience. We will absolutely be back.

Such a fun experience! They have a selection of white pottery pieces to choose from mugs to animals…read moreto ornaments to piggy banks. To get started, you can use a pencil to draw, tracing paper for a printed design, stickers as stencils, or even lace for cool designs. After painting, you'll come back in a week to pick up the piece after they glaze it. A group of five of us came for a fun girls' day and spent about two-ish hours painting and gabbing. The staff were so nice in giving us a mini-orientation and even helping us out when we made the dreaded paint mistake! It's a great spot for friends, kids, a date, or a solo outing if you want to be creative. They have a complimentary parking lot, otherwise, there's metered parking and free street parking in the neighborhoods across Wilshire. Tips: - You can see their current inventory online and they can order you a specific piece if you give them a month's heads up. - For words or numbers, bring your own stickers. Otherwise, you can purchase theirs and they have lace for sale too. - Check out their Instagram for inspiration! - For the non-artistic types, I highly recommend printing out a design you want in advance. You can trace it directly on a plate or the like and then just paint it with colors (or pick something easy like an animal to paint). Have fun!
