What a wonderful experience. Clay Cafe is absolutely mom-and-daughter approved!…read more I originally came across the idea of painting pottery while visiting Vista, California. I wanted to do something different and special with my mom, who is almost 80, incredibly active, full of spirit, and has worked hard her entire life. She had never really been in a setting where she could simply sit down, paint, and explore her creative side, so I wanted to surprise her with something new. While we were still in Vista, we briefly parked and I started looking up pottery-painting places closer to the LA County area. That is when I came across Clay Cafe. We were already beginning our drive back toward home, so I decided to take a chance on it even though it was still about 30 minutes from us. I'm so glad I did. This is a family-owned business run by a mother-and-daughters team who are artists themselves, and you can really feel the care they've put into the space. They were welcoming, helpful, patient, and genuinely kind from the moment we walked in. We picked out our pottery and ended up spending almost THREE HOURS painting! The time flew by because we were having such a great time together. There are plenty of paints, tools, and creative options, and the guidance they provide is wonderful without making you feel rushed. They also have a cafe next door with coffee, cookies, and other goodies. If you have a sweet tooth, definitely try the cookies--they are huge! We enjoyed iced coffee and a cappuccino while we were there. I will say that this isn't the cheapest pottery-painting experience, but I felt the quality, materials, tools, atmosphere, and assistance made it worth it. My shark piggy bank was around $60 and my mom chose a vase around $50, so with everything we spent roughly $130-$140 for the two of us, depending of course on what pottery you choose. After you finish painting, they glaze and fire your pieces. They took our contact information, and about two weeks later we received a text letting us know everything was ready. We picked up our finished pottery today and were SO happy with how it turned out. They welcome walk-ins, although I would recommend making a reservation, especially if you want to settle in and really enjoy the experience. Parking was also easy since they are in a small plaza shared with 7-Eleven. They also host fun events, including a plant bingo where you can apparently win plants, so definitely check their current schedule. For me, though, the best part was simply getting to sit across from my mom, paint together, laugh, talk, and watch her creative side come out. That memory alone was worth every penny. Wonderful family-owned business, wonderful people, and such a fun experience. We will absolutely be back.

Such a fun experience! They have a selection of white pottery pieces to choose from mugs to animals…read moreto ornaments to piggy banks. To get started, you can use a pencil to draw, tracing paper for a printed design, stickers as stencils, or even lace for cool designs. After painting, you'll come back in a week to pick up the piece after they glaze it. A group of five of us came for a fun girls' day and spent about two-ish hours painting and gabbing. The staff were so nice in giving us a mini-orientation and even helping us out when we made the dreaded paint mistake! It's a great spot for friends, kids, a date, or a solo outing if you want to be creative. They have a complimentary parking lot, otherwise, there's metered parking and free street parking in the neighborhoods across Wilshire. Tips: - You can see their current inventory online and they can order you a specific piece if you give them a month's heads up. - For words or numbers, bring your own stickers. Otherwise, you can purchase theirs and they have lace for sale too. - Check out their Instagram for inspiration! - For the non-artistic types, I highly recommend printing out a design you want in advance. You can trace it directly on a plate or the like and then just paint it with colors (or pick something easy like an animal to paint). Have fun!

She had already been here for a classmate's birthday so we didn't need much guidance. We were greeted by staff who welcomed us into grabbing a table and to look around their stock of ceramic pieces. Prices are at the bottom and it seems that everything that I have picked up was in the $30 range. There are so many things to choose from - mugs, plates, figurines, banks, home good like a platters, utensil rests, cake stands. In the shelves to the left when you enter are holiday and seasonal pieces. There is a color palette of what the glazes would look like after they were fired up. What you see in your palette will be lighter than what they would look like when they are fired up. Pieces will then be picked up within 7 days. On a Saturday, this location is pretty busy. (It makes me happy to see so many people being creative.) While we were there, a couple of birthday parties took place and every seat seemed to be filled. I brought snacks and water for my niece and her tablet in case she needed a break from painting. Prices include a painting service fee and the price of the ceramic pieces you choose to paint. The painting service fee is priced fairly as staff has to glaze the pieces and then fire them up. They also clean up the stations and materials you used during your session. Snacks are available for around $2. - So far, this location has the least expensive studio fee. ($12 while locations in LA are $14 and $15) - This location offers more events and discounted nights/days in studio fees. - On average, this location has one of the shorter wait time. (7 days here... average of 10 days in other locations. - This location is one of smallest. - This location has less ceramics from what I have noticed. There are still awesome choices to choose from. Overall, we had a great time and I would like to come back. Check out their calendar for specials.

The party consisted of 15 people both children and adults. The lady who was in charge of the party and instructed on the painting of the ceramics was excellent. She was great with the children as well as adults. In the back area where the children painted was an area that the catering food was placed along with the cake and goodie bags. There were also balloons and a personalized TV birthday banner. The children painted for a good 2 hours. The party lasted about 3 hours since food was catered in. Our friends didn't have to clean up since Color Me Mine does the set up and clean up of the birthday party. We received our ceramics from the birthday party within a week. It was hand delivered to us by our friends and it was properly packaged by Color Me Mine. Thank you Color Me Mine at Valencia Town Center for a fun birthday party.

There's beautiful paintings, drawings, graphics, sculptures, pottery, photography, jewelry and more. Our favorite was YIN PING ZHENG, he specializes in traditional Chinese brush painting & calligraphy. His paintings were AMAZING! They were very affordable, all originals, even the small ones. They're made with watercolors on rice paper. He demonstrated an art piece for us, he had so much control, he made it look so easy. We ended buying 2 vertical paintings of plum blossoms which included frames. He was so humble, nice & friendly, he even offered for us to sit & he let a lady sit & wait for her daughter to pick her up. Make sure you drop by to say hi & check out his art pieces!!
