This is always a go to sub place when I can't find a Larry's Giant Sub. Stopped by to see how they were since they didn't have any current reviews. The staff was polite, for the north, and the food was fast and, as always, fresh and delicious. The tables were dirty and trash was on the floor. I would have expected it to be cleaned up since I was the only one there and they had several staff members walking around. The one thing that gave me heartburn was the Captain Sorenson salsa packets. I love adding the sauce to my sandwiches but I wasn't able to open either packet. There were no pre cut slots to tear and I was NOT going to use my mouth. The guy behind the counter did provide a couple of small cups of salsa for me to use so it balanced out the frustration. I've been curious about trying firehouse subs since the chain came to town a couple years ago. Tonight I decided to satisfy that curiousoty and stopped in for dinner. I decided on the large turrkey and swiss. To be honest I wasn't too keen on the idea of spending $10 on a sandwhich, but this is no ordinary sub. In my opinion, the quality was noticeably higher than some other sandwich chains. They also were more generous with the meat, which was nice to see. The large was more than enough, and I imagine the regular sub would be great for lunch. read more

Wanted to try the new neighborhood sub shop and finally had the chance today. Nice variety of sub sandwiches. Subs arrive at your table warm but not overly toasted (like Quiznos) or microwaved (like Subway). Food was quickly prepared and delivered to our table after we placed the order at the counter. They have about 15 different sub options available. I had the medium Italian sub without cheese and it had Genoa salami, pepperoni, Virginia Honey Ham, provolone, Italian dressing and seasonings, served Fully Involved and Shane ordered the hook and ladder which was smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, Monterey Jack cheese, served Fully Involved (not sure what that last statement means unless it has to do with the fact that the sub was warm). We both enjoyed our subs quite a bit. Both were tasty and were fresh. Bread was soft and not dry and hard. It's nice that the menus in the store and in the take home menu include the prices for the medium sub, but they also sell a large and not a price to be found for a large sub anywhere in the building or on the take home menu. For the diet conscious, each sandwich has the calorie count showing on the in-store and take home menus. After looking at the Take Home menu, I see large subs are $2 more than the medium. So the price does appear somewhere. :) Overall, not a bad experience. It's a place that we both agreed we'd like to try again in the future. And for the real curious, they serve Coke products and use the fancy drink dispenser that lets you add flavored syrups to the drinks inside. You potentially have the option of creating over 190 different drinks. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. They all seem to like what they are doing there. read more

Wow! My sub was way better than I anticipated! It was full of flavor and the bread was perfectly soft vs. being hard and dry. I've been to Firehouse Subs in Knoxville, TN, Cincinnati, OH, and Indianapolis, IN. This restaurant did an excellent job with the brisket sandwich. The place is packed at lunch, a sure sign that the local workers love eating here. The workers were very friendly, and brought our sandwiches out to us. It was silly this place only had 2 stars on yelp, because this is the best Firehouse franchise shop I've ever eaten at. read more

Once a week this is my dinner or lunch. I have had almost every item on the menu board, but my all time favorite is the Hook and Ladder with a bag of chips and soda. Been coming in since right after it first opened on a recommendation from a coworker who is also a member of the Plainfield Twp. Fire Department. The price is VERY inexpensive for what you get. Clean restaurant, and cool fire fighting gear on the walls for decoration. They also make their own cookies and brownies that will melt in your mouth. read more

Never experienced fire house subs till last summer but I love this place. All of their subs I have tried have been great. The service is always fast and friendly. The even greet ever customer that walks in the door. This location has always been extremely clean and fast. If I had three wishes, I would use them all to get a Firehouse Sub. When I walked into the restaurant I saw a muscular man and his name was Tim Halpert. While he resembled a fireman, he made subs like an artist. He commanded his team in an exemplary fashion. I would literally follow the man into a volcano if he told me to. Tim could be serving as a chef in New York, or even working as a male model, but instead he chooses to serve the everyday American by serving up an amazing sub. He should get a raise. read more

This place was TERRIBLE! I first used their restroom and there was no hook in there to hang your purse up. This was a bit annoying, but not the end of the world. Then, the employee at the counter was incredibly rude. I asked if they had a veggie sub because I didn't see one on the menu board, but there was one listed on their website. His response was, "unfortunately, yes." I said, "well, I'm a vegetarian, so that'd be fortunate for me." He said, "yeah, but they're a pain to make." I asked why and he responded, "they're just really messy and we don't like making them." I told him, "If you don't want to make it, that's fine, but then I'm going to have to go somewhere else because, like I said, I'm a vegetarian, so that's the only thing I'm going to order." He then said they would make it so I ordered my food as well as food for my husband and son. I tried to get my pop (after having to hunt someone down to get a cup since the rude guy forgot to give me one) and the pop machine hardly worked! It was one of those touchscreen kind and you had to tap your selection about 15 times before it would do anything. It would jump all over the place from screen to screen and select things you hadn't even pressed. Once I finally got my food, I was told I was all set and headed home with my food. When I got there, they forgot to put any condiments on my sandwich. It was totally dry, just veggies and bread. And, there was no syrup in the pop..basically tinted soda water. They also didn't give me the fireman hat that was supposed to come with the kids meal. I went to their website that night and made a complaint. I received a response 3 days later, below is his response: Dear Stephanie M****, Thank you for taking the time to contact Firehouse Subs with your valuable feedback. Your feedback is extremely valuable. By voicing your suggestions and comments you enable us to continuously work towards improving our operation. Although it is against Firehouse Subs corporate policy to offer WiFi there is nothing I can do to change that. Although, I do apologize for the employee giving you a hard time for the veggie sandwich. I will speak with him and forward your concerns along. The firemen's hats are not placed in bags, they are at the front of the counter for the customer to freely grab. We look forward to serving you again soon! His attitude about the rude order taker seemed very cavalier and dismissive. This place is more expensive than it's competitors and you get bad service, bad food, and it seems like they really don't care. Don't waste your time or money! I found Firehouse Subs just last week and have been there 4 times for lunch. Needless to say I've found a good value and great taste. I'm working my way through the Under 500 calories menu and have found the Hook n Ladder a preferred option. Grab extra napkins, well worth a few sticky fingers. I too get distracted by the canned "Welcome to Firehouse" charter but not enough to take any stars away!! Enjoy. read more
