Firehouse is by far one of my favorite sub chains. This particular location has a large dining area that is always clean. The staff has always been friendly and quick in preparing my order. Every sub combination I've had here has been delicious. The main sub options come in two sizes and even the smallest sub is too large for me. For the person watching calories they also have a selection of sandwiches that are lower in calories with the calorie counts posted. I can appreciate when a restaurant gives me reasonable calorie options. Firehouse also has delicious Sweet Tea. They also have a section of hot sauces to heat up your sub. We stopped in for lunch to try Firehouse for the first time. I was impressed by their dining area. It was very clean and well maintained. The decor is pretty much dedicated to the men and women of fire departments of course. They also had a Henderson firemans gear on the wall as well. I have a lot of respect for their profession! On to the food- I ordered the medium steak and cheese sub. Pretty decent fillings of steak, cheese, provolone, onions, peppers and mushrooms. I would say it is comparable to its competitors but not above and beyond. They have a huge array of hot sauces you can add once you've received your order. The sauces are numbered on a hot scale to choose what level of spicy you like. It was good but not over the top. I realize it's not like Subway where you see them prepare, pay and leave. Although we seemed to wait a while for them to finish our order. It wasn't too busy so I thought it was odd. I asked the cashier was there anything on my sandwich that would make it spicy. She assured me there were no spicy condiments if I didn't ask for them. I ordered the Hook n Ladder. This place is terribly slow. The manager was just watching while the short handed staff worked their tails off. The store was not even busy. And not really short handed, there are five staff here. Update: She did start working after multiple customers inquired about the wait. The food is just ok and not worth the wait. My daughter and I drove past this location after a soccer game, and decided to give it a try.... IT WAS DELICIOUS! The meat was fresh and moist. The bread was perfection. They have a large selection of hot sandwiches, large enough to split for two people. I ordered a turkey sandwich with cranberry and my daughter ordered a ham and cheese. If I could leave zero Stars I would, I have had the worst experience of customer service in the past two years trusting fire house subs would make my sandwich right every time I've gone. That has happened my twice... I don't understand how hard it is to listen to a customer and providing the customer service they ask for. I work in customer service and I try to fulfill my customers orders 100% by listening to the customer needs. To paint today's picture... I had been at work all day and haven't eaten for the day and I asked my assistant to pick me up a sandwich thinking going in the store would make a difference to the customer service I've had over the past years and sadly to my surprise it is still the same. I had even clocked out for lunch to sit down because I was excited for my lunch and looked at the sandwich and it was not what I asked for. That definitely was not my assistance fault as I provided a post it note with my order that they now have stapled to all the receipts. It was their fault for not listening to my order as she had to repeat it multiple times. I returned the sandwich after working an 8 hour shift and advised the employees I did not want it!... And Even as I was there in front of the employees addressing the issue rather than they focus on the customer service and understanding their mistake they're so focused on looking at the ticket on the sandwich to see what I'm complaining about. I almost just drop the sandwich off and left it in the store and said fuck my return I don't care I don't wish to do business at this location anymore and they've (You) lost a customer. I normally love firehouse subs but I'm just really frustrated by them right now because I ordered a sandwich with no mustard (I'm 8 months pregnant and can't stand mustard) and the guy who made my sandwich handed it to me and he confirmed what I ordered and that I didn't want mustard then I get home and it's lathered in mustard. So he handed it to me knowing very well he just put mustard on it and confirmed I said no mustard. I couldn't eat it past the first bite. I have a 30 minute lunch, ran to pick up my order and the card had an issue processing when I placed the order so she asked if I could pay at the counter. No problem. There was one couple waiting for their sandwiches. I ordered four for my family. It took 25 minutes. A couple other comments, one girl was standing around talking the entire duration of my visit. I had 25 minutes to observe this. She talked to the gentleman making all the sandwiches. This made me upset because the time could've been cut in half if she helped him. Further, the dining room was really messy. She could've been cleaning. Instead, the order taker cleaned the dining room when she finished taking orders. This is just an average place with sandwiches with an average taste. Not amazing, but no terrible. Pricing is fair, but then again I wasn't "wowed" with anything about my pastrami sandwich. Having experienced some of the best pastrami from Jewish deli's, I was underwhelmed. I think corporate chains forget what made them famous and take their eye off the ball, quality wise. And it shows. Normally, the food from this location is pretty spot on but tonight - not so much. I ordered in person in the store. Large sweet and spicy meatball with extra sauce. Large engineer add mushrooms, add cherry peppers. Medium engineer add mushrooms, add cherry peppers. I asked when I was handed the order if the meatball sub had extra sauce because it didn't show up oN the screen when I ordered and paid. The gentleman said yes. When I ordered the engineers. The mushrooms and peppers showed as add-ons on the screen , so I didn't verify. When I got home, the meatball sub had the regular amount of sauce. No extra. The engineers had a tiny amount of mushrooms and almost no cherry peppers. The top part of the roll was very dry. Just a very small bit of Dijon. So disappointing. We've had sandwiches from this location, the McCarran location on Eastern and Russell, and the Maryland Pkwy location. The food and service has always been good at all three.
