Ok listen, my sandwiches are always SO good. The services is very slow, but if you come in with that expectation, I don't mind. I came on here to speak about the manager (I'm assuming because she's always working). She is VERY overwhelming. I know she is most likely stressed but listening to her demands, constant criticism and stressful nature, it is so hard to sit back and listen as a customer. I feel she makes her employees second guess their work, instead of creating a safe/calm environment. Each time I come in, there is always new employees and I'm assuming that is why. I don't mean to sound rude, but it would be helpful to help her change her tone when speaking to people, it makes me not want to come here and the food is always SO good. Went there today because my wife raved about firehouse and when we arrived around 1:45pm. All of the tables needed to be cleaned and when we asked them to do so, it was like we were being difficult. They wiped the table we were going to sit at and none of the others. My wife ordered, but since I had never been I was weighing my options. When I finally ordered I was then told of the 5 things that they didn't have which was everything I would have ordered. Why wouldn't you have told me that up front. NOT THIS FIREHOUSE!!! Now, I love Firehouse Subs but the one in Springfield is sub-par... Last night, me and my family went to Firehouse. Sent our order online. Now, we planned to eat them their since we ordered drinks and chips. However, when we got there, the kid behind the counter said that the dining area's closed. WtH!! If I had known that I wouldn't have ordered chips and drinks since I had to take everyone back home to eat our subs, which were below standards since it was more of salad sub swimming in oil. So, that's twice this Firehouse Subs has had problems with there store and still stayed open. The first time, they ran out of wheat bread and didn't tell us until we paid for the sandwich. So I'm saying if you have problems, the staff needs to be upfront about it and not wait til the last damn minute when I already swiped my credit card And by the way, someone needs to replace/fix that the front door because it's still broken, and I haven't been in there in months....ate up!! read more

Best meatball sub I have ever had. I got the spicy one and was amazed at how good it was. Also, The meatballs are large enough to fit the bread! What a novel concept (unlike so many other sub shops with the sparse and tiny meatballs). I am definitely going back! The staff was also very friendly and informative since it was my first time there, I had a lot of questions. My sandwich is always great but I tried to go at 8:51pm on a Friday when their hours said open until 10 and they shut the lights out and locked the door before I could walk in. I would say they need better employees or management. read more

Was really disappointed by their bread! We eat at firehouse a lot and the bread they are serving was nothing more than a steak bun you can get at Sam's. They were friendly and the ingredients were good however when it comes to subs the bread is important. They were also out of the chips I like and no small cups. I did not receive the Mac and Cheese in my order. I drove all the way home to find that we were missing an item. I drove back to the store and was met with employees who were very rude and condescending. We asked for the Mac and Cheese and they tried to act like I was lying. I then asked if my brother can have a drink for the mistake that was made. They handed my brother a drink cup to get a sweet tea and he went to get a drink. EJ the manager then proceeds to tell us that my brother needs to pay for the drink even though he was given the drink by another employee for the mistake. We were then told that we can either have a brownie or cookie for the mistake and we will need to either pay for the drink or throw it away. EJ the manager never apologized for the mistake that he made and made my Brother and I feel like we were the problem. We took the Mac and Cheese that was paid for and threw away the drink and left the store. This was our first time at the store and we will never come to FireHouse Subs again. read more

i just had a salad, so that's all i can really speak to.. it was a bunch of lettuce in a bowl. i'm sure you're familiar. i don't eat meat, so they left all that off and in the absence of that, there weren't many other toppings. just lettuce. with some fat free italian, i think, on it. it tastes exactly how you expect it would. like lawn clippings. not this establishments fault... i blame nature. my husband, on the other hand, will eat cheese melted on dog shit, i'm pretty sure, and he loooooved his sandwich. he had the "veggie", which is a bunch of cheese melted on some veggies. he is what i lovingly describe as a "waffler", so we almost had to spend the night at firehouse when he was confronted with the over 100 selections of hot sauce there. he could not decide on just one and kept going back to the counter to try a new one. i thought it was neat to have so many, but seriously... it almost took him 3 hours to eat a sandwich. he declared the sandwich the best hunk of cheese melted on veggies he's ever had. said he loved all the hot sauce selections. he slouched in the front seat of the car, said he was too full to drive home, and threw the car keys at me. i guess that's a winner. read more

Took me a while to post this review. I was so mad when I left this restaurant. They were busy and I came with my mother and two sisters. We were all on lunch breaks and met to have lunch. We all ordered our sandwiches and paid for them and sat down to wait for them to be ready. Everyone got their sandwich but me and I continued waiting a little longer and then approached the counter. The girl at the counter said she wasn't sure what happened and got a manager The manager came over and the proceeded to accuse me of stealing saying I had already received my sandwich. Now this is after I have already waited 45 minutes for a sandwich my family is done eating and I have to get back to work. And the way I see it firehouse subs stole the $10 I paid for the sandwich I never got. I have never been back and don't ever plan to. Wasn't busy so ordered and received our food right away. The restaurant was clean and had a good atmosphere. I ordered the Hook and Ladder chopped salad which was really good and had the salad dressing already mixed in but was proportionate. The kids kept saying how good their sandwiches were. My favorite fast restaurant in Springfield! So sorry to hear that it has closed. Do not understand as they always did alot of business. Love the sandwiches and atmosphere. The crew is always friendly and the food is delivered in reasonable time. Enjoy eating outdoors when the weather is nice. We have ordered there 4 times as take out. I called after the 2nd time to let them know that the 2 times we have placed an order, both times the order has been wrong. These were not large orders, but did give them a chance knowing they had not been open long. When I went back for the 3rd time, and only ordered 1 sandwich, they got it right, but this last time they got both sandwiches wrong...again. Not sure where the problem is, with the person taking the order or the person making it.
