And what if a famous person played here? Well then his name would be EPIC ESTRADA or EPIC CLAPTON. Obviously. Seriously did you know Eric Clapton gave a drunken racist speech on stage a few times? I heard one of them on YouTube, it was horrible. Put me right off him. I'm sure it's the reason why Layla left him. He definitely wasn't wonderful that night. This is actually my favourite place in Western NY to play soccer (football, futbol). It's not as fancy as Sahlen's, and female friends have told me it doesn't smell very nice here (because of the Ice Hockey probably), but it feels like home. The employees are absolutely wonderful, the refs are usually very good, the teams that play here don't usually try and cripple you and break your legs, and in general this place is good times and good people. The guy who runs it (doesn't own it, but pretty much runs it), is Mark, and he is one of the friendliest people I've ever dealt with. He's so accommodating and just nice on every level, and very professional. The other guys that work here such as Isaiah (sp?) and the cute girls that do the scorekeeping (one in particular! swoon!), and the referees like the two from England (one from Birmingham, one who vacations in Florida), and so on... Plus I have a habit of winning championships here, so I like it. I think I've won something like 6 or 7 championships here in the last 3 years... 4 or 5 of those were in the last 6 months. So yay Epic. It's always good to win, right? Sahlens is where I always seem to get injured, and it's super far, and super serious... and Sportsplex is... well, I'll review that another time and explain. They have all kinds of other cool sports as well as soccer... just look on their website for full details. And they have a small and a large soccer field, and I like playing on both. Especially on the small one because it matches the kind of little 5-a-side games I used to play in England, it lends itself to players who are good at close control and tight-space-skill which is definitely one of my fave types of game play. So Yay Epic.

He's learned a bunch of new skills and tricks, and had a blast at the second week long session of their summer camp this year. Being in Delaware Park on Ring Road is really nice, with the only downside of course being that parking can be tricky sometimes, so you definitely need to be strategic for weekend games. Having DSC as a safe outdoor activity for him to get out and play during COVID has been a life saver.

It's a super cool location for the DSC, right next door to the best and most rowdy Soccer Pub in the region - Mes Que. Nowhere else in Buffalo or Rochester has the same level of soccer interest and masses of soccer fans coming in and out of this block every Saturday and Sunday for the matches shown there. So DSC is getting quite a lot of interest, and it's helping them move some of their cool but slightly overpriced soccer items for sale. I fully support them, though, and any other grass roots soccer organizations in this country.

They're owned by ECC, but are used often by BDSL teams which send overweight beer-bellied men to kick the crap out of each other on Sundays and sometimes Saturdays and Tuesdays too. I've played soccer on these fields probably 20 times in my life, most recently about two summers ago for an away game which was brilliant because I scored twice. Great memory. I love the fields. I always play better on lush green fields with the grass well cut and this is not always well cut but it was on the day when I got my win. These days it's 15 seconds drive from my Gym so I come over here and play soccer just for fun with friends every now and again even now. These are absolutely lovely fields, but they get too windy, and they also get a little neglected during the cold months of the year, which is a shame but understandable. All in all they score a solid 4, and I always enjoyed playing here.

There's a small splash pad with high streaming water that I sometimes play in with others. Yes, im very much a big kid at heart. Im not impressed with the swing set section but there is one there with a tetter totter across from it. There is a track that circles this section of the park. It's great for short walks or when watching ure steps for exercise. There's much more additional space of the park across the street where they hold football and cheerleading practices as well as games. The back end of the park also holds football games. What I don't like about the park is that it isn't cleaned well or often. I have seen the city parks dept "cleaning" this park on several different occasions. It literally was astounding how they purposely left trash. I said something to them once about how I've seen people come dump their trash there and how it's great we have them to make sure it's clean for park goers. Interestingly enough as I did my steps around the park repeatedly they cleaned it well that day. Go figure.

Finally it became known as Thriller Park in honour of the highest selling album of all time, released in 1982 by Michael Jackson. Finally, they combined all of those names to make what it is today. Schiller Park is a great place to play soccer, it's a nice field and I have lots of good memories from here. It might be a bit better than Bakos, just down the road, because it's a little bit cleaner. One thing I don't like about it is that the Cheektowaga Police seem to think it's fun to pull people over right next to this park all the time, it's right on the border between Buffalo and Cheektowaga, and it's a very black neighborhood, and every single car they seem to pull over on this street has a black driver. Not very heartwarming to see that kind of profiling going on... plenty of cars with white drivers come down this street too... I've seen about 20 cars with black drivers pulled over here... zero with white drivers. But I digress... it's an excellent place to play and I give it the top rating.

The last time I was here was for a soccer game in summer 2014 although I shouldn't have been playing because I was injured. I played here every other summer for the last 10 years or so, and I know it very well since it's one of the closest fields to my house out in Clarence. I've only played about 3 or 4 games here, and I've twice seen the ball kicked into traffic. It could smash a window, cause a crash, and even get someone killed. I worry that one day it might. Having said that, I love all soccer fields and I had some good games here, so I'll average it out to a 3 star.

But there's also a little truth to that, because the team I used to play for here, weren't too crazy about visiting teams that had a lot of, er, non-white players. Some of them more than others, I guess. I was last here maybe 2 years ago. I played soccer here probably 50 times over the course of several years, for a team of old friends. I feel like I know every single blade of grass here. The fields themselves though, are what I am reviewing. They're still used for BDSL matches as far as I know. The grass was usually not cut, and was often rough and spotty and very precarious in terms of getting injuries. Having said that, it was my home field, so I got used to it, and it ended up being a disadvantage more to the opponents than to us. So I'll give it a 3.

Like an old McDonald's Playplace on steroids x100. I believe it was $25 per child if they already had sticky socks. Which seems steep but we were here for hours. It was clean, especially the bathrooms. And when your child starts screaming for Burger King because you can see it from the front window, you are allowed same day reentry. So you can play, grab lunch at the mall food court, then head back in. My boys were exhausted by the time we left.
