This place, owned by the Klopcic family for over 50 years, harks back to another era. The somewhat dated but elaborate decor is flamboyant and fun. Imagine a 1970s Las Vegas resort transported to rural Wisconsin. This huge complex packs a restaurant, bar, gift shops, and entertainment into a windowless, dark and low-ceiling environment where you'd half-expect to see folks in Brady Bunch attire hovering over blackjack tables and slot machines (minus the cigarette smoke). The main entrance is actually in the northeast corner of the complex, near a towering outdoor sculpture. To access the restaurant, you must traverse a long, winding corridor past several gift shops and the theatre entrance. The gift shops seem to cater to grannies on motor coach tours (giggle!). Not my cup of tea, so while the missus browsed, I chilled out in the swank cocktail lounge with a bottle of New Glarus. The sprawling multilevel restaurant is divided into cozy spaces by attractive etched glass panels and a pond bordered by artificial plants. The latter recalls of one of Chicago's most romantic places of decades ago, Kon-Tiki Ports. Tiffany lamps cast a bright glow over each table. Depending on when you dine, various menu options are available. For our weekday lunch visit, our group pre-ordered a multicourse meal. Overall, its quality was on a par with banquet food served by 4-star hotels and cruise lines - very good to excellent. But Fireside's in-house bakery excels. Baskets of warm, freshly baked bread sent several of us scurrying to the bakery counter to buy a loaf or two to enjoy at home. Fireside's Signature Salad with chunks of fresh fruit and papaya dressing was also stellar. Our group ordered the chicken & ribs entree. Methinks the 3 bones were there just for decoration, as the rib meat was already detached. My portion of buttermilk fried chicken was just half of one breast. Though served piping hot, it was no longer crisp. Truthfully, the accompanying side dishes were more enjoyable. And kudos for the Georgia pecan pie, accompanied by a scoop of unctuous salted caramel ice cream. We were most impressed with the well-orchestrated service and extraordinary attention to detail. Substitutions and special requests were cheerfully accommodated. The theatre-in-the-round is very intimate and comfortable. The center portion of the stage is a circular hydraulic lift, which rotates and facilitates scene changes. Lighting and sound are state of the art. And the production we saw - "Rockin' At the Fireside" - was absolutely first rate. This dinner-theatre is definitely worth the two-hour drive from Chicago's north 'burbs. read more

I love coming here for the Friday fish. The service is always friendly. And the food is always great. I get the baked cod and it comes with a peppercorn sauce that is absolutely delicious. The cost isn't terrible around $12-18 a person if you get a drink and the portions are very large. The inside is just beautiful. I always appreciate a place that can take reservations as well. Who knew you could get Broadway-quality entertainment in small-town Wisconsin! At the Fireside Theater you can have dinner and a show with professional performers both local and from New York City. Their menu could use some more fresh vegetable and fruit options, especially at buffet meals which have a lot of meats and fried foods. But the plated meals are very good. If you take in a show during the holiday season you could get all your Christmas shopping done here! Their gift shops have options for every kind of collector imaginable all in their own sections. Cheaper than a night out for theater in Madison or Milwaukee and just as good! Great food and fabulous show of Jersey Boys! Wisconsin natives but now visiting from Arizona and couldn't not enjoy the show!

We had a wonderful experience at the Sunday 2/11/24 matinee performance of Jersey Boys! Starting with some nice banter with the box office worker as I picked up our tickets. We were then directed to OUR table for brunch service by a nice young man named Brian. I highlight that it was OUR table because once seated there was no one rushing us out and we could have sat and ate right up until the theater doors opened. Our server was Lily, who was sweet, friendly and answered all our questions. The Brunch was served buffet style and had plenty of options and was tasty all around. We only were able to share one piece of cheesecake amongst the three of us as we were full. However, we were able to bring home the remaining two pieces to enjoy at a later time. After brunch we walked thru the shops and bought a few items. Also getting a loaf of bread at the bakery! As for the show: Having never been to a show that was "Theatre in the Round", I was pleased to see that ALL seats were good seats. The production was awesome, never neglecting one section for any length of time. Loved the use of the aisles and the center "drop down" part of the stage. The performances were great! All of the cast had wonderful voices and we sang along to all of the songs. Not only can they sing but they were fine actors in their own right. Funny when it was called for, and emotional when needed. We have been wanting to come to see a show at The Fireside for many years and we are so very pleased we finally made it and will definitely be returning. My husband and myself visited yesterday and we were excited as we have not been for many years. We arrived at 10:30, visited the lovely shops, made a few purchases and then decided to visit the bar. Our bartender, Logan was wonderful and very attentive despite being busy. Made our way to be seated at 11:15 and sat on the upper level. We sat and sat and sat waiting for our server. Finally at 11:45 Amber talked to us. It wasn't until 12:00 that we got our soup and bread. Then another waiting game. Long story short we received our dessert at 1:15 which we totally did not enjoy as we needed to make our way to the theater for the 1:30 show. We were not the only disappointed guest as the neighboring tables were also disappointed in the service. Despite the service our experience was awesome and we hope to visit again soon. read more

Just watched the musical Matilda today and what a wonderful experience at the Fireside Theater. Always a great experience here. Delicious food, friendly staff and entertaining world class shows! Today was no different. You know something is good when it's consistent. Our server today was Katie and she was an absolute gem. Attentive and always making sure we had what we needed at all times. We didn't feel rushed and we were well taken care of. The food was amazing. Then let me tell you about the show. These actors were living their parts complete with British accents and everything. The hard work they put into this production was visible. I will definitely return to this theater in the future. We've attended a show about every year for years. I only ask for their gift cards for my Christmas gifts to give you an idea how much I love this place. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed! read more

While I have learned that a dinner theater experience is amazing but not something I want to do often the Fireside really was great. We saw Beauty and the Beast during the hype of the movie (and before a cinema trip). The specialty drink were perfect, lunch service was wonderful. Luckily though I have one girl who is a very slow eater and one that is content coloring on the stack of Post It's I luckily had in my pocket. You spend a long time here. So if you are used to moving around often it's hard. Also the theater is round and you are cozy next to your seat mates. Unfortunately my left side seat mate stole the arm rest and I had a skirt on that day which meant I couldn't fully get comfortable. But it really is a small price to pay. The theater is worth it. The fact I was close enough to see the microphones on the actors/actresses or watch them spit while they talked or sang was really cool. I also enjoyed the fact that the cast cruised up and down the hallways and the sound was perfect. The cast was great too and if you can't find something you like at the gift shops you do t line anything as there are a to if items. While a tad pricey, remember it includes dinner and a great show. read more

This gem of a dinner theater in south central WI is such a wonderful experience from start to finish. I have been going here since I was a little girl and saw Annie for my first theater show. 30 years later I saw Annie again, haha! It was just as good as I remembered. When we heard about Annie coming back to the Fireside, my parents and I arranged a visit for a Saturday matinee. The menu was set, but you could add several items to your meal for a small upgrade charge. We didn't upgrade anything (even though the selections looked tempting) and I don't feel like we missed anything. Their salad has always been a favorite! The dressing and the sesame crunchy bits for garnish are so tasty. The featured entree was a chicken stuffed with cheese and encrusted in pretzels! The roasted cauliflower and broccoli side was equally delicious and prepared perfectly. Blueberry crisp with vanilla gelato was the dessert. Such a nice meal and professional waitstaff. The show was excellent! The actors and actresses put on an outstanding performance. The children were particularly great--I can't imagine doing so many shows while going to school (or having a private tutor) at that young of an age. I loved the costumes--they really captured the essence of each character. I am a huge sucker for the gift shops, haha! I bought a pair of ridiculously soft lounge pants for $25, so I'm excited for cooler weather so I can wear them. First time visiting October 22nd 2016. Googled events during this weekend. Million Dollar Quartet caught my eye. My wife and I decided this is what we wanted to do for our 7 year anniversary. We came for the 1:30pm showing. We arrived at 10:35am for lunch. We were greeted upon entry where we needed to go. As we looked at the shops. We found out way to the seating area for lunch. We were seated really quick. I liked all we had to order was drinks. Coffee, tea, and water included free. Sodas and of course alcohol drinks not included. The meal is already included with your purchase to the show. The meal was very good. We could change our entree. I stayed with the pork tenderloin. Wish if we could choose soup or salad. Dessert was triple carrot cake with scoop of butter scotch ice cream. Yum yum. I was defiantly stuffed. Before we left our table. We were approached by a staff member named Pauline. She asked how the meal was and we told her it was our first time and were celebrating our anniversary. She told us the story how she was engaged at the very same table we are sitting at H8. She also added our name to be announced before the show for our anniversary. We had 1hr before the show and we shopped and picked up some stuff in the shops. When they announced it was time for all ushers to report to the theatre we went back to the entrance. Long line but it was ok show starts in 30 minutes. As we waited Pauline came to make sure she spelt our names right. She then proceeded to ask if we would like to get seated. She took us threw another door. We got to our seats and saw everyone get seated. We liked how the users made everyone feel as we were vips taking us directly to our seats. Most users elsewhere just point to your seats. The show was amazing. Like how the stage rotates to see all the performers. I'm only 30 and enjoyed the music of Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Elvis Presley. When music was music. After the show. The owner was thanking everyone for coming. The 2017 lineup has some shows I plan to attend with the in-laws. Possibly might make this our anniversary trip every year. read more

My husband's family and I came here for Thanksgiving lunch, and though I was skeptical of eating out on a holiday, I was extremely surprised with how well everything went at Fireside. Walking in, I expected to be seated in a cold, unfriendly restaurant where the workers were upset to be working on Thanksgiving. However, it was anything but that. As soon as I opened the door to Fireside, I felt like I was walking into a fairyland. There were gift shops after gift shops filled with beautiful Fall decorations and gorgeous Christmas trees, ornaments, and pretty gifts! As we kept walking to the back where the restaurant was located, it was so festive and really brought me into the spirit. We sat in a private room due to how large our party was and everything was fantastic. Our waitress was so nice and cheerful. She explained how the meal would work and provided details on all of their offerings. I ordered wine, but I did have a little taste of the giant, mixed cocktail that's for sharing. Although the drink was too sweet for my liking, it did have a good taste. The wheat bread basket was toasty and delightful. The Cranberry Shortbreads were my favorite out of everything. They were so moist, sweet, and delicious. The Fireside's Signature Salad was my second favorite thing I ate due to the amazing Papaya Chutney Dressing. At the buffet, I had a variety of things, none of which came close to what my family back home makes for Thanksgiving, but it was good enough to eat. I think the Fried Cod was better than the Turkey, which was a let down, but as I stated, my expectations going in were low. The desserts however were really good! The Apple Pie with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream was the highlight. The crispy crumble on top of that warm apple pie was heavenly. I devoured the entire pie. The wonderful Pumpkin Pie almost outdid the Apple Pie, but the Apple Pie won slightly because of the ice cream that came with it. After filling myself up to the rim, I got a cup of black coffee that was quite enjoyable. It was the perfect ending to wash down the amazing desserts I ate. I was so impressed with the gift shops that I went back the next day to do some shopping. The only downfall was that we found one large piece of wall art and asked the cashier to hold it for half an hour to have my mother-in-law to come and pick up for us to ship, and by the time she got there, they sold the wall art anyway. Overall, I had a great time here and if I were to ever have to eat out on a holiday again, I'd want it to be at Fireside or a place that's family friendly just as this one. I have gone to The Fireside many times in the past 15 years or so. I've never been disappointed with a show. I love the food too. Another thing that keeps me coming back. I've even gone when they did the Saturday dining only. I love the remodel. It looks so much nicer now. The one thing I'm not enjoying these days,however, is the new way they have done the menu. I prefer how they used to give you one meal option and then an entire restaurant menu of upgraded options. Now yes, I'm sure some love that they can choose from what 4 options included with the ticket for their meal. But the upgrades suck. They do. Plain and simple. I can't get my usual filet anymore because they may have only ribeye or some other cut. The upgrade menu has about 3 items on it now too. And the sides are not that great with the upgrade options either. The one time I saw filet, it came with a mushroom. Not sautéed mushrooms and mashed potatoes but a huge breaded mushroom. So weird and not what I would want. So I didn't get it. I also think the up-charges increased. I don't find the filet or steak option worth it any longer because I can get a filet for less and have everything with it and the filet better elsewhere now. I'm left to choose between the 4 options that come with the show now. Honestly, if I'm not a fan of any of them, I probably would just skip the entire thing because I wouldn't know until after I purchased the ticket and much closer to the show date what the upgrades even are. I buy my tickets well in advance so I get a good seat. Basically, I understand the need to revamp things, I just think this particular revamping isn't for me and I prefer the way it used to be. Or at least have the upgrade menu contain 10-15 items, as it did originally and with good sides. Because as I said, if I'm not fond of the items that come with the ticket, I will just skip the show now instead of playing roulette with that may be on the upgrade menu. Had a wonderful time with my daughter catching an afternoon matinee of The Little Mermaid. Our server Patti was fantastic and was attentive to my child's food allergies and was able to provide me with safe food for her and confirmed discussions with the chef and accurately identified her allergies with each course. The show was absolutely top notch. The actors were fantastic and Ursula stole the show in my option. My daughter loved Ariel and said she was just now she thought she would be. The short of it: The plays are pretty good, but the food is awful. If you go SKIP eating there and eat elsewhere. The longer story: My mom loves this place. She has been coming to shows here since the early 90s. I remember going here as a family when I was around 15yrs old. We came here for Mother's Day 2016 and when I walked in, it felt like a time warp...everything was the same as it was 20 years ago. This place has tons of potential, but needs to work towards it with modernizing the decor, shops and dining experience. Milwaukee has excellent theater options and fantastic dining options. The lack of a 5 star dining and experience as a whole will catch up to the fireside and they won't be able to attract the audiences due to the generational shift. The food: I ordered a salad, I got a wilted lettuce salad - no toppings, just wilted lettuce. When I mentioned this to the waitress she said it was fresh and plated that morning. It was already 5pm. she brought me there applesauce instead, she said it was excellent. This was blazing red and was super sweet, just too much. For dinner I ordered scallops and salmon. The scallops were warm and the salmon over cooked and inedible. My sister got the vegetarian meal and was also disappointed. If you have any food allergies or sensitivities, I don't think they are prepared to provide good alternatives. read more

When you step into the Fireside dinner theater, you know right away your evening is about to be transformed. I recently went to the dinner production of It's A Wonderful Life, and it felt like I was stepping back into time for a wonderful, white Christmas. Some people may think that $80/person is a bit steep for dinner and a show, but I can promise that for the completely charming and utterly friendly yet professional atmosphere and the fine dining with a delicious five course dinner, it is totally worth it. Dinner, drinks, and a show in Milwaukee or Chicago would set you back even more AND you would have to worry about paying for parking, walking, etc. Now, let's break down this delicious five course dinner. Our first course was a bruschetta served with corn croustade baskets. I have to say this was the weakest course of the dinner but was still light and refreshing. It's difficult to reinvent bruschetta, so while it was fine, it was nothing spectacular. The second course was a scallop fried with potato shreds on the outside served over a tomato beurre blanc. This was the star of the dinner for me! The scallop was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were nice and golden and crisp. It didn't hurt that I would have eaten anything as long as that sauce was on it as well. I wanted a second scallop...third.... :-) The third course was a "Christmas" chopped salad. It was the best salad option I've ever eaten at the Fireside - with the pepper corn cream dressing stealing the show. The only suggestion I might make is have the egg, onion, cucumber, etc chopped a little LESS because they were hard to discern at times, and it seemed like mostly just greens and tortilla strips. For the main entree, I tried the suggested roast holiday capon chicken. It was served with an herb and mushroom stuffing, whipped potatoes, corn pudding, and a bourbon cranberry sauce. Believe it or not, the corn pudding was the best thing about the entree. It was a great balance of sweet and savory and was completely delicious. The rest of the entree was good, but I have had better entrees at the theater before (next time it's back to then Hawaiian ribeye steak or vegetarian medley for me!) Last but definitely not least was the trilogy of sweet tastes for dessert. This included a toffee pudding cake, lemon cheesecake, and ball of turtle sundae. Although I was stuffed to the gills when dessert came, I managed to taste it all. My table's consensus was that the turtle ball and the toffee pudding trumped the cheesecake but all were fair selections. After dinner it's customary to walk the gift shops and see if anything tickles your fancy. Everyone working at the Fireside is extremely personable and a treat to chat with as well. By the time the show comes around, there is a certain excitement in the air. The actual theater features theater in the round with a descending and ascending platform in the middle of the stage key for scene changes, moving cast members, etc. I have not seen a theater like this around much anymore and the charm and magic surrounding the show I just saw there was not lost on me. I would say job well done, Fireside, and you can look for my business next year as well! read more

Plenty of blue shirted personal to take us to our seat. Our waitress was all smiles. Returning several times to check on us and fulfill any needs. The papaya dressing salad was out of this world , scrumptious with a variety of great tasting fruit. The buffet was good, especially the fish and tempura. The ribs were dry and tasteless. The. Dessert had a rich lemony aroma. The show "What happens in Vegas ", was well choreographed,. The performers were energetic and. Acted as if this was opening night. I myself found the volume overwhelming in at times over 90 decibels, almost always in the upper 80's. The two items I found to be inadequate was interior maintenance and costuming. Generally the male costumes fit well and looked gorgeous. Many of the female costumes Needed a more tailored individual fit. The light blue/white gown one performer wore was not flattering to her figure type. . The performers themselves did not go all out to look good. Dirty bra straps visible, black underwear under a transparent white dress. We left at intermission, with upset stomachs from the excessive volume. Louder is not better! read more

What a fun Sunday. Saw A Christmas Story. First time there. They are very organized and well timed out. The matinee serves a brunch buffet. Great selection of food with a carving station. There was multiple courses with a sweet starter, berry smoothie, buffet and dessert. The show was excellent! I was pleasantly surprised at the theater in the round. The cast and production staff are amazing. The only downside is the several tacky gift shops. I think the place can do without it and their items are in the hallway, impeding leaving theater attendees. I'm excited to go back again. read more

This was my fourth time there and I absolutely loved it! We saw "Saturday Night Fever" and the talent was incredible. The atmosphere is pleasant, the meal delicious and the shows are great! It is truly an amazing value as you don't have to pay to park, the ticket includes your meal and the service is wonderful. It is a wonderful night out. I wasn't sure what to expect, as I live near Chicago and the majority of my live theater experience is from the many Chicago theater options. And since Ft A. is not really a "suburb" of Madison or Milwaukee, I really wasn't sure if it would be glorified community theater or what. I was pleasantly surprised to find a top-notch production of Mary Poppins (which I had previously seen in Chicago so I know how it was "meant" to be performed). The talent was excellent (both the local folks and those who were in from outside the area) and the staging was nicely adapted to theater in the round. As for the food and service - both were much better than I assumed they would be, considering how far out in the sticks I felt I was. Very friendly wait-staff and there was a good variety of food on the Thursday buffet. And it wasn't just the people who worked the area of the restaurant I was in who were friendly. I watched the staff as they seated people before the show and, to a person, every guest was engaged in friendly conversation by the staff. The manager/owner took the stage prior to the show to offer the family welcome and another manager/owner was in the hall afterwards to say goodnight and thank guests for coming. Nice touches you aren't going to get in the "professional" theater setting. I guess maybe $80 seems expensive to some. But I can tell you that $80 to see Mary Poppins in Chicago would cover your parking and a seat in the back of the balcony. At Fireside, I had park, a good meal, and a front row ticket for that price. This place is a top-notch dinner theater located right in the middle of nowhere in Fort Atkinson. Where the heck is the fort, anyway? I don't know. Nobody knew. They know where this place is though, that's for sure. We saw an early afternoon rendition of A Christmas Carol with brunch beforehand and the place was packed. If you've never been here before they have a selection of shops you can browse at before and after eating and checking out the show. I'm a boy, I don't really get into shopping but the girlfriend and female parental unit seemed to have a pretty good time checking things out and spending my cash. The stores are definitely full of kitschy country stuff, but this is Wisconsin and I'm sure it goes over well. After I tore them away from this we wandered into the dining area and ate. Phenomenal food. Highlights included scrambled eggs w/ swiss cheese and ham, some truly awesome sweet potatoes, and the salmon. Oh-Em-Gee, the Salmon. Poached with a little dill and they have this awesome creamy horseradish mustard. It was splendid. I only discovered it after my fourth plate full of bacon or I would've eaten more. As it was I was tempted to have the girl stuff some into her purse for later gnoshing. The show was excellent as well. I love theater-in-the-round, and it was pretty obvious that while this place brings in a ton of money they must reinvest a hefty portion of it into sets, props, and hiring skilled actors and actresses. Everyone involved was very professional, Scrooge in particular was a stand-out, as I guess he should be. All in all, tickets were far from cheap, but the food was amazing for a buffet, the service was great, and the show was one of the better renditions I've seen of a classic. I was super impressed by the vegetarian plate. It had a little of everything and all of it was great. My family had the meal of the night which happened to be chicken. They said it was a little dry but the salad was great with their house made dressing. Bathrooms were really clean which I appreciate. We saw Cinderella. Cast was great. For the wide hipped ladies: the seats were fine. A little snug, but if my butt can fit, yours will be fine. read more
