Met some friends for lunch at this beautiful restaurant. To be honest, the food was average. The Chicken Dumpling soup was average. The loaded "Tachos", which means tots instead of tortilla chips, was below average as the toppings really didn't work and the cheese used was almost tasteless. One friend had the brisket sandwich which looked great and he enjoyed it. Our waiter was awesome. Nice young gal from the college (Psych major). She was cute and clever and was amazingly attentive for the 2.5+ hours we were there. Overall this place was really nice. A little more focus on making the food great would make this a 5-star location for sure. We are not from the area, but we will try again when we are visiting. read more

Visited 841 on a recommendation of a family member recently while in Whitewater for a show. Food and drinks were good and the service was good as well. It was early so there weren't a lot of people. But people were in and out so it must be fairly popular. The interior is a little dated and dark, but the burger I had was delicious. Would visit again. read more

This is absolutely one of the top 5 fish fry's I've ever had. The batter is so crispy. The potato pancakes were perfect - crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They don't serve cheese curds on Friday nights which was a big bummer. We got some of their specialty cocktail winter menus and they were very strong and very delicious. Good service, too! read more

Four of us came for dinner tonite. Three enjoyed their dinners, mostly sandwiches. Ambiance was nice. Server was very pleasant. However, I ordered the stir fry. There was nothing in that stir fry that was fresh and fried. The vegetables (maybe the entire meal) looked and tasted like it was from the frozen food case at Wal-Mart. Truly awful. Should be removed from the menu if that's the best they can do. Explained to our server, nothing done... May or may not go back. Pretty disappointed. read more

Whenever I am visiting my mother we like to come here! It's a great place with a friendly staff. My mother enjoys coming here once in awhile to have a cocktail at the bar and then take her dinner home, she says that everyone is so nice to her. When we walked in several of the staff recognized her and said hello. Her favorite is the Salmon but this time she ordered the Spin Chicken ( she loved it ) I had the Apple walnut salad and that was delicious also! What a disappointing night for my father-in-law's 87th birthday. We made reservations on Monday for Saturday. It's a larger family gathering (11 of us) but they knew we were coming, and they were completely unprepared. The restaurant wasn't even that busy. I checked out the menu before we made reservations and called the restaurant to confirm they had prime rib on Saturday since I knew that was what the birthday boy and many others would want. Our waitress was pleasant and did the best she could, but the entire evening really was a disaster. I tried to order the fillet, but was told that they were out. It's only 6:45 p.m. I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp. Five people including the birthday boy ordered the prime rib. Ten minutes later, we are told that they only had 3 prime ribs left, so we figure out a new order. Somehow, the waitress was later able to get prime rib for everyone who had initially ordered it, however the cuts were not as advertised. My husband got the 18 ounce cut, and it was the same size as his father's 14 ounce cut, and even that cut was on the small side.My husband ordered his prime rib medium rare and explicitly said on the rare side. It was cooked to medium with just a little pink. The shrimp were fair at best. They were coated with a beer batter that was too thick and not what I would call jumbo shrimp. The shrimp sauce was almost solid and I needed to use a knife to put it on my shrimp. We also saw other tables with bread or rolls, but were never offered any. They did give us 4 pieces of cheesecake free of charge to share with the 11 of us at the table, but only on two small plates, which was really awkward. We pulled apart some take out containers to use as make-shift plates for the desserts. They did give us a large piece of chocolate cake for the birthday boy with 1 candle to light, which was nice. We came to this restaurant for an anniversary dinner last year with the same number of people, and didn't have nearly as many problems, but I don't think we will be going back again anytime soon, and definitely not for any larger family celebrations. read more

Though it is a hit and a miss if they have enough available staff these days, my friends and I have eaten at 841 often, especially when celebrating birthdays and accomplishments, and when bidding farewell. The food is good, though the spinach artichoke dip is sometimes good and sometimes lacking in taste. Mozzarella sticks are good if they get to the table before the cheese begins to solidify. Asiago chicken wraps --yum. Their salads are usually fresh, and they have decent soups. I have yet to be disappointed with the burgers I've ordered (Pub, Black and Tan, The Cado, Brew House Brisket. Also, I have enjoyed the shrimp, codfish, ribeye, steak, and several of their specialty sandwiches. There is also a bar area for those wanting alcoholic beverages. I recommend making a reservation since, at this time, the establishment is short-staffed. Calling also gives the opportunity to find out if the have enough staff to open for lunch. Being short-staffed at a restaurant is common theses days. Casual dress is common. read more

They have a great menu with eclectic options along with your most loved staples, the prices are very reasonable, and the drink options are stellar. Not to mention the help! We felt very welcomed from the first time we encountered someone and our server, Mackenzy, was fabulous! If I could rate this place lower I would. They literally have creeps as cooks and refuse to do anything about it. Allow a hostile work environment where employees things can go missing and nothing is done about it. This place looks nice but has a darkness to its management that can't be excused. Pretty typical sports bar on the inside with the usual collection of gaming machines, televisions, and sports themed "art" that looms like it came from someone's basement on the walls. Nice big bar with brewing tanks in a separate room in the back. Menu choices were what you would expect to find, although they did have some different salads. We both had the southwestern salad with chicken and chicken noodle soup. Salad was good with fresh ingredients. I believe the soup was homemade, but it was so salty I thought I might end up hypernatremic. I didn't finish it. They have a full bar and serve beers other than their own. I cannot, simply cannot, recommend this place. I will admit it's probably more than one star but people generally only read the five and one stars. Went there on a Sunday, party of three, first off were sat with one of us (me) part of the way into the isle to the buffet. A note on the buffet, nothing looked fresh or even house made. The buffet looked like it came directly out of the Sysco or UW-provisions catalog "just heat and eat". Ordered drinks from a waiter who was definitely inexperienced, not his fault but know your menu. Across the party we tried a little of everything alcoholic they had. I had a cocktail, one had wine, the other one of the "brewhaus" on tap. The cocktail was a maple old fashioned, a little light on the bourbon but other wise fine. It was just ok. The beer was their midnight Porter that had more of a home brew flavor than a craft. The wine came out spilled over the glass, waiter didn't even notice, and at $10 a glass was of $10 a bottle quality. All in all unimpressed by the drinks especially for a brewhaus. Ordered the 841 "totchos" for an appetizer. Classic tatertot nachos with pulled pork and bbq sauce. As you can expect the tots? Yep Sysco or some other frozen bag. That's not necessarily a bad thing, who makes house made tots anyway. I would say the slaw was disappointing but readymade slaw is pretty good. The sauce? Yep tasted like it was from a bottle, straight from the bottle. The big disappointment was the "pulled pork" pulled straight from an oven. Uniform bland gray meat, occasionally dried out, no smoke ring, and the minimal bark was clearly oven. The liquid smoke in the sauce had more honest smoker flavor than the meat. As for entrees we tried across the menu. Wings , brisket, and a burger, simple right? Nope! The wings, well were wings, probably Sysco again but that's good for wings. Sauce may have been a little heavy-handed with the bottle, but who doesn't have celery or carrots with wings? This place apparently. We even asked. If the pulled pork made me think it was oven done, the brisket proved it. All of Texas died a little when that "smoked brisket" hit the table. Lastly the burger. Oh man the burger. The critical sin with burgers is the premade frozen patty. No matter how much you dress it up, or add chewy bacon from the buffet, you cannot hide the shape and absolute crap that is a frozen, rack and stack, patty. How dare you call yourself a restaurant let alone shame brewhouses across this country by serving that to your customer. In short go elsewhere Also, the (insert restaurant name) on their website pretty much sums this place up. read more

Had lunch here today, my husband who orders a beef brisket sandwich whenever it's on a menu, said this one was the best he's ever had. I tasted and had to agree. My pub burger was also perfect. This is a staple restaurant of whitewater. It is hidden on the outskirts of town, but it is amazing! The feeling of it is refreshing, and the staff are friendly. I ate here tonight with my dad and we both got the fried walleye. The fish was delicious though the breading was a little chewy at times. The fish itself was fantastic, though. All the sides were good, and it was certainly plenty of food. Our server was friendly, and our food came out quickly. The decor and atmosphere were also very nice, and the place had a pleasantly "homey" feel. I will likely be back, and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a solid Friday night fish fry. read more

This might be some of the best bar food I have ever had. I have literally tried something new every time I have gone here and I have never been disappointed. The burgers are amazing, the patty melt is so good, and the reuben is like no other! Normally a bar has great apps and just ok food, but I would say its sort of the other way around at 841. The apps are good, but the food is awesome. I love the variety they have. The portions are big but not wasteful, but you won't be hungry when you leave. I feel like its a hidden gem, because its not directly downtown Whitewater, its off the main strip. Its usually packed for dinner, so if you have kids call ahead. The service has always been great. Added a star for that :) You're in Whitewater visiting your grandmother and she remembers that there used to be a nice restaurant here; so there you sit @ 841 Brew House on Easter. The brunch buffet is impressive looking, today it featured prime rib, baked ham, fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, eggs Benedict, fruit, salad, smoked salmon, shrimp, cakes and pies and so on. The place was pretty packed and service was good. But then you start eating, and you realize none of it tastes like much of anything. The cherry pie tasted like sugar, I salted the prime rib to try to scare up some flavor. The biscuit for my biscuits and gravy was ice cold as was the eggs Benedict; the English muffin stood up against all attempts to cut it. If I was paying for the food I would have been annoyed, but we were on the previously mentioned grandma tab so it was pretty ok. Coffee was weak but the ambiance is pretty good. read more

This is my like 100th time dinning here. However this time did nothing but frustrate me and leave me starved. The service was absolutely ridiculous and outright disrespectful. I went with a group of my high school girl friends and every table no matter if they showed up before or after us, got our food before us. I'm not sure if they looked down on us because of our age or had the belief that wouldn't tip as well as the other customers, but pretty much all of us work in food service and were raised well enough to know how to tip. We are still paying customers. We sat for nearly an hour and a half with not only no food but without our waters being filled. We made reservations and called ahead of time and still there were barely any looks shot even remotely in our direction. I'm not one to criticize restaurants or leave bad reviews, but I wasn't just upset and hungry in this situation I felt completely disregarded and dismissed. I came in on a sleepy afternoon in August when i needed lunch and had nothing to do. The young lady behind the bar was professional and the place is clean. It isn't much for atmosphere really. It looks like a buffalo wild wings inside. Very corporate and proper. I think it would improve when full of university students on a game day or some other such event. I sampled the IPA and stout and had an amber with my lunch.(all made there). The IPA is a decent middle of the road beer with a hoppy bite. I felt the stout was weak, but thats a personal preference. I had the buffalo wrap with grilled chicken and it was pretty good. Nothing to complain about here. I'd try it again perhaps. read more

When we walked in and said we wanted outdoor seating because of our dog, we were told no servers were willing to work outside today. Went here while visiting my daughter at UWW on March 13th. It was not a great experience. I asked the server which was better, the pulled pork or the brisket. She told me the pulled pork, so that's what I ordered, along with cole slaw on the side. The pork was rubbery in texture and clearly not fresh. Had I not been with a group of my daughter's friends, I would have returned it to the kitchen. For her sake (and my wife), I did not make a scene. Needless to say, the meat was horrible. I don't see how a reputable cook would serve it to a paying customer. The fries were not great either. To make matters worse, they charged me extra when I asked for extra bbq sauce. Seriously? I'm already paying $60+ for a family dinner! On the plus side, the beer selection was nice, and the cole slaw was decent. However, I would not go out of my way for this place. I have been to 841 many times throughout my 4 years at UWW. I think that their chicken strips are the best thing on the menu because they are perfect every time. I also really enjoy the prime rib on Saturdays because it's always cooked perfectly. They have multiple sides which you can choose from as well. Sometimes they have event menus which limits what you can choose from but they still have plenty to choose from on those menus. read more

We were in Whitewater for a college track meet and the hotel recommended coming here. We found a spot at the bar and had a flight of brews, wings and an added salad. Tasty.
