But if you can catch a ride on one of the trains it truly is a rare lifetime experience. However, finding the station is tricky, although the site clearly states it's located on Ridge Rd. there are no signs labeling the street at either entrance/exit. If you're coming from Kent you'll want to look for 2 bridges ( one has brightly colored paintings at the base & a sign that reads "hotel parking") & drive around the curve to find free parking. If you're coming from the Northside District near Lock 15, it's directly behind the Northside Marketplace. For the most part, the station is clean and the staff are informative & welcoming. They have a basic knowledge of what's available in the area and can provide you with a number of local activities. However, this station only has porta potty's that are locked during the off hours (the ticket agent explained this is due to vandalism by the locals) & are often disgusting! The trash cans are often overflowing & there's not always enough parking. If you can, DO NOT park on the side under the bridges near the woods!!!! There are homeless people camping there. Also, another disadvantage is that there is no indoor seating or signs directing you to the right car to get on. Although there are volunteers, there were two similar trains running on 10/20 & no one knew which on to board...too much confusion & not enough organization!

I recieved prompt courteous service and my foot feels much better. What I would stress are two things: unlike their main competitor a mile away, they will submit an insurance claim for you. More importantly is that they charge about half what the other competitor charges for the same orthotic. That's important if you are paying out of pocket or haven't met your deductible. I was in the latter category and Hanger called my insurance company and got the negotiated price so I saved even more. Their competitor will not do that. In addition, if you want a second orthotic it is half off that price since they already have the mold. The orthotist explained in detail how the device helps my foot pain and arranged follow up to fine tune it. Highly recommended.

SHOPPING -- Plenty of shops to choose from such as J.Crew, Victoria's Secrets, Yankee Candle, Kopper Popper (popcorn store), Apple (foe cell phones, headphones, and laptops), Auntie Anne's (pretzels), etc. FOOD -- There is a food court here that has about 5 different type of restaurants. I noticed Sbarro (pizza), Charley's Philly Steaks (Philly cheesesteak sandwiches), and Asian Chao (Chinese food). I also wonder what this branch has seen because the cop manning the branch always has this look of suspicion on his face. I'm glad the librarians have protection, but I've never seen a look of such disdain from someone eating an English muffin. Akron Public Libraries has a great online portal and their own app, so checking out books is such a convenience. Firestone Park might not a ton of books that pertain to my interests, but it's so easy to get one delivered to them. Also I've been out of ink toner since 2016 so printing services there are also something I'm grateful to have access to. I can't say enough good things about the library.

Volunteers were friendly, although the ticketing/check in process was a little confusing. The door was open, but the guy working seemed unclear on whether they were ready for us to come in or not, and directed us to the craft area before we paid and got our stamps. One day I'll come back when it's less hectic to explore and learn more about this interesting piece of Akron history.

The librarians do a terrific job offering a range of programs for kids and adults. As part of the larger library system, the collection is quite large and it's convenient to request items for local pickup using the library app. There's also an active Friends group that accepts donations and holds in-person sales of books, movies, music and magazines. New Friends group members are always welcome - just ask at the checkout desk.
