The general staff is welcoming and helpful. But their jobs are very limited. Seems like good people to work with if they could follow through. Major problem is that the only decisions anyone can make are to send customers to the boss. He may be a sharp fellow but unfortunately his focus seems to be to only take advantage. We walked away several times disappointed with poor prices for new or used firearms. All of us need to make profits to live but we also need to be fair. Trust is a problem here for sure. I have used the Firing Pin for years. They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Being an Indiana guy buying firearms results in an additional charge to send to an Indiana dealer. Unfortunately this results in non competitive pricing for purchases. Where they shine is in repairs and technical know how. I took a gun a shotgun inherited from my father that had suffered from years of neglect and poor storage conditions. I believed it a lost cause, but had them take a look. I was quoted what I considered a more than fair price for a full restoration. I honestly didn't expect much, but when I picked it up a couple months later it looked like a new gun. 5 stars all the way. read more

The fitting pin is by far the best gun store around with the best payment plane I have bought 4 rifles from there they are by far the best ones that I have I will only go there to buy firearms... they have the best customer service, I am personally there like 3 times a week they never hesitate to grab a firearm just so I can check it out even if I'm just browsing everyone in there is VERY nice VERY helpful I don't see how anyone could ever dislike this place read more

This place has always been a great location for my ammo needs. The employees are truly amazing, friendly and knowledgeable about anything you need to know firearm related. The prices are very affordable. Just stopped by today and picked up a good case of 500rds of 9mm and about 200rds of .223 with out breaking my bank. Niles, Michigan used to have 2 gun shops- Farr and Son (out of business as of Sept, 2013) and The Firing Pin. I live across the border in Indiana, I never went to The Firing Pin very much, but I did buy one rifle there and somehow they screwed-up the transaction and overcharged my debit card- by like $100! It took them a week to give me back my money! Another time I had some Ruger 10/22 hi-cap mags (Butler Creek) brand new, in the package I wanted to sell and the skinny, younger guy who works there only offered me $7 dollars each for the mags! These retail at $20 minimum! When I mentioned this to him he said "Well, take it or leave it"- I left, and I have not been back since. NOW Rural King in Niles, MI is selling handguns, long guns- even AR-15's! I KNOW they are sh!!!tng all over themselves at The Firing Pin now that they have some REAL competition to contend with!- sometimes Life is good! read more

I really like this store. Years ago they weren't so friendly but I always wanted to like the place anyway. There seem to have been some changes and the place has improved a lot. There's always a few people there. I always get asked if I need help finding anything, which I usually do, and they always have what I am looking for or can get if for me. The young guy running the place has always been very polite and helpful. They have a good selection of ammo at a good price. There is always a few higher end firearms and a couple interesting pieces of eye candy in the mix. read more

Super nice people working there but the store is quite a bit unorganized. Make sure you check pricing prior to special ordering a gun, they do not price match and charge a 10% restock fee if u find a gun cheaper elsewhere. So now I am stuck paying 60$ more for a gun I can get at a big box store for 60$ less. I really try to support local business but find it hard when situations like this arise. On the plus side you can trade in Firearms at the firing pin which you cannot do at a big-box store. Unfortunately I may not purchase another firearm from them but you never know... read more

I started buying guns from the Firing Pin 21 years ago and have a rather nice collection, sadly we parted ways today. When Mike ran the store, getting a gun fixed wasn't a problem, now this kid named "Cam" runs the place, today I went to pick up a Taurus they sold me that wasn't working, not only did he say he wouldn't repair the gun or stand behind the piece of junk he stuck me with but that "I should file a claim with my home owners insurance!!!" The Firing Pin has that hometown local feel. When you go in after a few times you become friends with the owners and employees. If they don't have what you're looking for they can get it for you. I'm reading these 1-star reviews and laughing to myself. If you're really going to go to Rural King to buy a gun, you're an idiot. If you have a problem with a Taurus firearm I'm pretty sure Taurus offers a lifetime warranty. I want to buy my guns local and have a local place where I can go to get parts, ammo, and more guns. Took 2 pump shotguns to the FP to be restored. Both looked nice when I got them back but one fired every time I pumped it without pulling the trigger. I disassembled it completely and it was full of machining fines as though they were swept from the shop floor and dumped in. After thorough cleaning and reassembly it looked and worked fine. I then took the other gun apart and it was equally filthy inside. I was overcharged $10 one time for a gun I ordered and they did not bore sight the gun as promised. Stay away. Stay far far away. The owner, cam advised me (A new gun owner at the time) to buy a Glock 34 GEN 3. He told me the following week he could switch it over to the left side. He kept putting me off and making excuses about parts not arriving yet until I got tired of excuses. I went to another shop and asked them to do it for me. They told me that it is typical for him to lie for a sale. They have heard the story before. You can only move the mag release on a GEN four not a GEN three. Also, he sold the gun as new when I broke it down to clean it it was dirty inside. read more

I have been doing Business with The Firing Pin for many years. From Dad to Son , wife mother ,sister. Never have I had any problems and recommend this gun shop to all. Cam and his crew are great folks and know guns and ammo. From gun smiths to getting or making custom parts , this is the only place to go. Other farm supply and Big box stores just can't compete. I went to a local Wal Mart and ask to see a Mossberg 12 ga. The guy handed me a Ruger 10-22. I went to a Farm supply store on south 11th and ask to see a Ranch Hand and was given a DPMS AR-15. This place is great. If you are looking for a "corporate experience" where uninformed staff drool over you, and ask you every 5 seconds if they can help you (even though they know nothing about 95% of the firearms in the stores inventory) then maybe, MAYBE, try a garbage place like Cucks sports, or a farm store. If you are a gun enthusiast this is one of the last bastions of the local gun store. They will work with you on parts, accessories, and smithing. To the negative reviews a few points: 1. Do your research, this includes price. Leaving a less than stellar review because you can't check prices online is candy-ass at best. 2. If you're going to buy an economy firearm that comes with a mfr lifetime warranty there is an expectation that you will be responsible for getting said paperweight fixed if it's out of spec (this is true for every gun shop, there is no upside to selling inexpensive weapons then having to pay to get them shipped back and forth to have them fixed). Again do your research, it's a cheap non US made firearm with thousands of reviews saying you'll probably end up sending it back. 3. When trying to sell items to them (which very few stores do, outside of pawn shops) realize that they won't pay you more than they pay their distributor which would be approx 50% of selling price, probably less in a modern retail environment. I LOVE THE FIRING PIN!!! I just can't stand the blatant disregard for common sense displayed by the negative reviews here. Also, Yelp will let you pay to remove reviews, they just lie about to the readers here, just fyi. read more
