Well it wasnt to bad with these guys. Until I totalled my car and I was fighting to get gap Insurance to pay out. I'd pay $40 here or so because I had to buy a new car. Janey green was awesome helping me get my paperwork for the gap insurance. Anyone else I talked to wasnt really competent. When I called collections to let them know I just got an email from the Gap insurance company the lady I spoke with was super rude! I couldn't believe it. I will never work with them again. Not worth the attitude. Next payday I will pay off the interest and walk away. Tell family and friends to never use them the 2nd start is solely for Janet. I am so close to switching banks. I filled out the skip a payment form and mailed it with my $40 money order to skip a payment in January and keep in mind this was before my 30 days that they cashed it. I get a call today February 2nd letting me know I am 19 days late on my car payment ! I was so upset and explained I have proof they cashed my $40 and that now this will affect my credit. The rep on the phone said that they changed systems and she didn't have all the info so she would research and call me back. This bank has to get it together. 2 stars is too many stars if you ask me. this is the absolute worst credit union I have EVER encountered!!! was charged 35 to open, service was slow and RUDE!! then i tried to deposit an IRS check first was told they would have to hold it for 7 business days, then was told because my husband was not with me( mind you he's a commercial diver so he travels all over the world and is in Florida at the moment) that I could not deposit it .... what the actual f#%*.... so then I say ok I want to close the account I opened two weeks ago..... no attempt at retention and it took her 25 minutes to finish ! I have had a car loan with this credit union for two years and it has been nothing but annoying. First of all, their phone support is subpar. I can rarely find the right person to talk to or no one answers the phone at all. When they do answer the tone of their voice is usually quite rude. Whenever I have any issues with my payment they just direct me to their horrible website which is such a pain in the ass to navigate. My biggest complaint is when they changed their in house payment system last month. I had automatic withdrawals from my checking account every month and then suddenly on September 1, 2016 they changed everything and the money was never taken out of my account. That would have been fine if they had notified me. I had to call them and figure out what was going on. They told me that I would need to go back into their horrible website and set up my bank information again, oh, and you also owe us a $25 late fee. Seriously?! A late fee for something that was never my fault in the first place?! I go into the website and set up my payment information again and make a payment. Now, they're charging me $10 convenience fee for setting up my checking account information!!! When will the fees stop??? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR AN AUTO LOAN!!! We have a auto loan there and it has been nothing but headaches. When they call, they mispronounce your name, they lose payments and put your payment into another account (we only have one account with them). They finally found the payment about 3 months later. Their phone system isn't good. you can never get through to anyone. This place was not our choice for the loan and would never be our choice. They tell you that you are behind when you're not. I see a number of OLD reviews that had issues. But I can't speak to borrowing from 1st American, only as a checking / savings customer. I had an account with another smaller bank In Casa Grande (Stockmans became 1st National, then became 'the bank of Joe' or something and SERVICE degraded with every buyout) Seemed every time I ordered new checks, the bank changed names. ENOUGH!!! I moved an account to 1ST American in 2012 and have had nothing but courteous service, and professional handling of my funds.. I have to agree there is a little funkeyness in how the paper trail of how they handle depositing a outside check, or how they move funds from account to account when you just want to withdraw from savings, but in the end the numbers all add up. (just a bit hard to follow sometimes) I have other accounts at CHASE and if you want to be treated like a LOOSER (no matter what your credit rating or account balance is) just try to deal with an ever-changing and shrinking staff at CHASE and a bunch of NewYork rules and lawyers making things difficult,,, just to justify the retainer CHASE pays them. If so just give the non-caring morons at CHASE a try. I've had CHASE deposit MY funds in someone elses account, had 1st INTERSTATE freeze my business account over SOMEONE ELSE'S TAX SIEURE, and took me 2 weeks to get refunded. Know how many checks can bounce in 2 weeks, and 1st Interstate (NOT to be confused with this 1st AMERICAN C U) refused to remove the bounce check charges THEY created. I guess the short of this, ANY body or bank can make a mistake, but HOW YOU ARE TREATED when your trying to resolve a problem is what puts one bank above another. These days SERVICE at a bank is rare with brick and mortar banks closing, drive throughs closing, and everything going to a phone APP, NO THANK YOU!!!! I've been a member here since before I moved to AZ in 2010. This was the only credit union in town that allowed me to join as a homeowner in Casa Grande, even though I lived out of state at the time. I had had many good experiences and only one bad. The bad experience was trying to get my will notarized. It took three trips for me and my witnesses to get everything in order. It would have been so much easier had the member services rep told us initially that there were several items I needed to address. Instead, I'd complete one thing, return with the witnesses and she'd announce something else that didn't comply. It was a pain but other than that one experience, the staff has been polite, professional and answered my questions in a timely manner. All in all, more positive than not. read more

Their online banking/bill pay system is designed by inbred crack heads and their customer service will have you slappin' yo grandma. They mishandled bankruptcy paperwork wouldn't speak to someone ON the loan, refused payments and ha e sent my grandfather to collections WHILE trying to fix problems with the loan THEY created. I just opened up a savings and checking account this past week. Tried to set up online banking and had problems. I called and the lady that answered tried to tell me my computer was out of date and it was my computers fault. She spoke to me as if I was computer illiterate and didn't know what I was talking about. After trying to set up the online banking via Chrome, Foxzilla I gave up drove down to the CU to have them do it. As soon as I opened the door I noticed the line was all the was to the door and the people kept coming in. I agree with Rick First American knows nothing about customer service. I'm not sure if the bank manager doesn't know how to run a bank or if they just don't care. They were under staffed! Customer Service 101 - If your that busy even one day a month you staff for it! I signed in and the waiting area was almost full. There were a few open chairs. One of the chairs was wet and looked like someone had literally peed on it. Classy credit union. I sat and waited for over an hour. I finally gave up and decided first thing tomorrow I'll be there when the doors open to close out my account and take my business elsewhere. If customer service is of great importance to you save yourself the hair pulling, endless unavailable reps, and rude help once you do manage to actually get someone on the line. They really take advantage of the fact no one will actually drive down to Casa Grande and let them know how they really feel.. but lucky for us there's Yelp. I'm not over exaggerating when I say I left a voicemail 5 times just to get someone to call me back with my account number a week later. This is me calling their lending service line... their should be people eager to help and yet they act like they don't need customer business to keep the lights on. It doesn't end there. Forget any helpful assistance on their website, if that's your thing. It's structured with errors and dead links and malfunctions all over. This place is terrible when it comes to upgrading anything. I've had problems for YEARS with this place. The only Reason why I keep it open is because my children have a savings account open with them. (Which I will be closing VERY SOON!) No one ever answers the phone! When they had the whole "exciting" upgrade during the beginning of December, they wanted us to enroll again for online banking. I tried, and they claim to have no information on me, and locked me out of my account. Once I tried to call them, which I wouldn't recommend, because you'll be on hold for hours! Ive been on hold for 26 minutes, and counting and Im still CALLER 42!!! This credit union is a complete joke. That's OUR MONEY you are holding up! Theres nothing exciting about his place. We have our car loan through them and it has been an absolute nightmare! They never answer their phone and on the off chance that they do, they are extremely rude. You can try leaving tons of voicemails but that won't help either, I honest to God believe that they don't even check the messages.So, prepare to never be able to pay your car payments on time if you need to pay by phone. In order to set up auto pay you have to print out a form and send it in to them, sounds easy enough right? If only it were! We tried multiple times to send in our request for auto pay and they seemed to never receive it. They also charged us an extra $120 a month for their car insurance THAT WE DID NOT NEED, we sent in proof of our insurance multiple times as well and even had our insurance company fax them our policy and still was charged. And let's not even get into how terrible their online website is. Can't even create an account to pay online because it always tell us that they can't find our information on file. When my husband was at USMC boot camp I tried paying our car payment and THEY REFUSED TO LET ME PAY IT. I had to put money in a savings account 40 minutes from my house then call them to tell them to transfer that money to our car payment ALL WHILE EXTREMELY PREGNANT (don't forget this is all while trying to even be able to get them on the phone). This is an absolutely terrible credit union. They DO NOT deserve this 1 star rating. Absolutely avoid them at all costs. I only give one star to this company because I can't go any less on here and leave a review. I was paying my car payment online every two weeks and then all of a sudden they want to charge 10$ per transaction online. Then I had to deposit money into a shared branch as they do not have one in Tucson. Then I had to wait for the check to clear and call then to transfer the money over. Been doing this a while. So I can recently to transfer and make payment and the teller says there is a 3$ fee!!!!!!!!! P.s. I want to say inappropriate things. What kind of credit union is this?? First American Credit Union is lacking in skills/Customer Service and just flat out having it together. They send me a letter out because I used my 10 day grace period stating that they want to work this out with me and needed $632.00 ... This note was dated for the 6th of November, but on the 9th of November they came and Repo'd my car!!!! Yeah, that's really working it out. So, this left me and my kids stranded. When I called to "work" this out, they were closed on Saturday and the the following Monday was Veterans Day so I didn't get anywhere until Mid week when "Nicole" came back into the office... I spoke with Nicole Stevenson, whom not only didn't work with me at all but added even more charges making it absolutely impossible to get my vehicle back. She wouldn't "defer" anything to the back of the loan, like the add'l towing charges of $350.00, or the add'l payment on top of the $632.00, oh yes, and let's not forget the add'l charges for storage at $45.00 a day. I figured it out to be about $1650.00 I would have had to come up with and I just wouldn't be able to keep a roof over my kids head and pay this amount. This credit union is the worst. I have all my paperwork, which in the service agreement it states that if a person goes past the 10 days they are to be charged an add'l $25.00 fee NOT REPO MY CAR!!! I know they will take me to court for the deficiancy amount, and I'm prepared. This Credit Union is being reported by many. Wouldn't tell my worst enemy to have dealings with this establishment. They did it aqain!!!! No advance notice of changes in their accounts. They stated I need to go to some box on the estatement to see the notifications. Like I have time to do their work. They took away interest and add fees without notification. They won't do anything about it. They now only have 3 types for checking accounts, none of which work for me.... (all types of requirements and number of transactions). They are losing my accounts this time. I can't take the spikes in my blood pressure anymore. I have been with First American Credit Union for just about 17 years and for the past 3 years it has been miserable! Their customer service is terrible, they have changed over staff so many times and none of the staff have any idea what customer service is. They are changing their policies without notification to their members. They can not post car payement correctly even with a payment coupon. I have had for many years overdraft protection, and just this week I had a check that was processed before my paycheck was deposited. I called to find out what happened what happened first I was told it looks like you did not sign up for it, and I said no I do have it. And they said they would call me back to research the issues. I never received a call back, instead I had to call them and was rudely told "with our new system the overdraft protection is determined on a daily bases and they have no control over that" I was like what and you could not tell your members this, I have never seen any message regarding this. I was told oh yes all our members know this. More reason that I am glad I pulled my direct deposit and will be closing my account. Never ever will I be doing banking with them and I will suggest others stay away!!! Unless you want to be constantly ripped off then bank with them. read more
