The services are very short (1-1.5 hr.) and to the point and includes original praise and worship music that give it a unique personality. There is a surprising amount of volunteerism within the group compared to many churches. They make a concerted effort to help their community and participate in public events as well. They really have a very well crafted kids program too.

I figured hey I find our dentist, vet, food places here why not weed through the churches this way too. If you are anything like me, church "shopping" isn't fun BUT so important to find the right fit for you and your family. For me personally I was looking for strong children's, kid's, teen programs, mom programs and mens programs. Sometimes a church will have one or maybe two of the above but usually not all...unless they are a mega church and that in itself is a problem for me personally. After looking at several other churches in the Oakley and Brentwood area I went back online and literally pulled up every church website in the area and started looking again. At that point I stumbled on Brentwood Neighborhood Church's website http://www.brentwoodnc.org . It is located next to edna middle school in the older downtown area. It offered alot. I was pretty excited. After attending our first service my kiddos, hubby and I said "hey I think this is "the one". :) PRO's: Everyone we met was SO welcoming and friendly. They have first time visitor parking right in front. Usually a greeter right there who will help direct you to where you go especially if you have kids to drop off this is so valuble. AWESOME children's ministry. We have 3 kiddos, one in nursery, one in the 3-4 room and one in the k-5 room. After each Sunday school the kids leave with weekly lessons that are age appropriate that you can do with them during the week to keep the "theme" of that weeks bible study going if you wish. The staff to child ratio is really good too. For nursery they give you a pager and will buzz you if they need you. Pastors Destined and Dave are wonderful and easy to talk too. They each preach wonderfully. The offer 3 service times. ALL WITH CHILDCARE. Let me repeat that. ALL TIMES WITH CHILDCARE. Service times are: 9am, 11am, and 5:05pm. That in itself is great since if you have someone into watching sports (cough cough like my hubby) or someone who plays sports you can pick the service that works best for that day for you. Women's ministry is strong. They offer a group that meets on Tuesday mornings called Simply Moms. Your kiddos get to play with kiddos their age while under care of the BNC staff you you get to get breakfast with other moms as well as do a craft or hear a speaker. It is pretty awesome. Very strong teen/preteen ministry. One thing that struck me is how involved the kids in this age group are. This is a good indicator of a healthy church. Recovery 12 step Christ based group that meets on Thursdays. I haven't attended it but I am very glad that this is offered. Coffee. Yes this is a pro! Free coffee is always a good thing. :) Wonderful playground in the far back of the church. If you have wild child's like mine this is a great way to burn energy as well as know they are safe since it is the back of the church. Check it out. :)

This church changed our lives. We were welcomed with open arms. We were never pressured to be…read moreinvolved or to "join" in. The people and pastors allow us to set our own pace of what we want to be involved in and how often. Love Pastor Jim, Pastor Audrey and Pastor Warren. They are always willing to hear what we have to say. They give sermons straight out of the scriptures and encourage us to study what they share on our own. Once we decided this was a group of believers we wanted to be a part of we dove in and have never looked back. They encourage us to reach out to our community in love. I know the family I have at Sanctuary will be forever. They have our backs. We can freely share with anyone and know they will pray for us and help us find Jesus in whatever we are facing.

They invite you to get involved with small groups, to go deeper in relationship with God and others. This church is definitely community oriented. Not just with the church people , but the city of concord. For example- giving food to people for thanksgiving - backpack giveaways- feeding the un-sheltered- picking up trash in the parks and freeways- and getting involved with toy drive with other churches in the area- bringing unity with other churches in the area such as Praise in The park, so families can enjoy a free concert with a big headliner. They also have a wonderful youth group that's not intimidating for the young one's. My son loved it and grew from it and have long lasting friendships. The young adults group is also awesome. They also have A men's group that meets every Saturday and goes out to the community. The reason why I love this church is #1 I have been through so much in my life and the people have come around me and lifted me up even when I couldn't help myself. They never ask for anything in return EVER. #2 when you walk into the building, you can feel the presence of God, it's incredible. You can tell they love Jesus. #3 kindness of the people #4 the one thing I need is for people to not sugar coat anything. Just give it to me straight and that's what they do. #5 they do not twist the word of God or change it. #6 they definitely love you where you're at, they know they can't change you, only Jesus can do that. But they will walk with you without judgement. They are truthful and LOVING. I have personally seen peoples lives transform. It's so beautiful. #6 the worship is beautiful. You can tell The musicians really spends time with the God, in the secret place. Definitely no performance happening. (For me personally I don't need all the lights and glamour and glitz. I just want the heart of worship. And that's all I need.) So if you are looking for a church home. I would probably say Sanctuary is it. Come and see what it's all about.

It has a small congregation but they really do have a huge heart and love for God. Love this place and I am excited to see what God has in store for it. Pastor Santos preaches with truth, conviction, and passion in the Lord. As a newer Christian, I'm thankful that God has given me a strong foundation in this church.
