This is so sad that churches will make you feel good but not fill you with the Holy Ghost . They are completely scared of offending the masses and just give them baby teaspoons of Spirit of God. Not saying they aren't contributing. However I can't can't remember very many times I haven't felt full of the Spirit and challenged to walk it throughout the week, here. It's a completely different space/ atmosphere, like walking into a different world. That's something I long for and have been missing for years. Thank you again for the pastors leading and his amazing family that leads worship and the tribe that has created a perfect temple for God's presents to dwell in.

There are several churches in the Lakeview / Mid City / Bucktown area and we went to every single one of them. However, we truly like Our Lady of the Rosary on Esplanade Avenue. Father David Robicheux is a young energetic priest with a passion for his job and also for the community in which we live. I'm not trying to be a "holy roller" but he actually translates the gospels into real world scenarios that we can all relate to. Auxillary Bishop Shelton Fabre is also in residence and often presides over the Saturday vigil mass as well as the Sunday evening mass. The church itself is beautiful and the few pictures that I have posted do not do it justice. If you are a visitor to this city or just looking for a catholic church in the Bayou St. John area, then check it out.

The main thing that I enjoy is that the priest is young and keeps his homilies relevant to what's going on in society. He also allows the deacons to do the homily which I think is very progressive and I enjoy quite a bit. Another major plus for me is that they have candles in the front that I can light and pray to the Virgin mother as well as St. Joseph on the other side. As the name of the church suggests I appreciate that there is a dedication to our lady as well as the rosary. The choir sounds absolutely amazing! It's funny because the choir director heard me sing one time in the congregation at 6 o'clock mass is trying to convince me to join the choir. The congregation is very friendly and I felt welcomed the first time I enter the church. I also enjoy that the congregation is very ethnically diverse. There's also very sweet ladies were trying out who asked me to join the Legion of Mary that meets on Monday nights. They even have field trips for example they went to St. Joseph's Abbey on the North Shore to visit. One of my girlfriends got married here and it is an absolutely beautiful church. As a bonus one time I saw the renowned chef Leah Chase and her husband and daughter at 9 o'clock mass in the first pew!

I have taken my Mom shopping on Magazine St on Black Friday every year for the last decade. And…read morethis was our starting point. My Mom has lived in NOLA for most of her 70+ years and had never been inside this beautiful building. The stairs were steep for her but she did OK. We went inside the entrance off of Henry Clay into a hallway and were debating where to go next when a sister heard us and opened the door to the parlor (there is a sign). She told us to ring the bell next time which was against the far wall and on the right. The gift shop is small and as the number of sisters at the monastery declines so does what they can offer. The handpainted ornaments are lovely and depict a variety of local landmarks. They also had creche sets, religious statues, tatted items, candles, boxes with decoupaged saints, mini-purses and some miniature NOLA scene artwork. The gift shop is cash and check only. The highlight for both of us is that we were allowed to tour the chapel which is gorgeous. The wood carving on the altar and the stained glass windows are beautiful and not ostentatious which befits an order with vows of poverty. Really a lovely space and you're supporting the order of religious. What's not to love. My mom was thrilled to have gone inside and I'm happy to have brought her.

I went to Easter Sunday mass here with my gf and her family. By accident, we ended up going to the…read more2 pm Spanish mass. Regardless, all the parishioners were friendly and didn't question us being there. The mass was about a normal length for Easter Sunday, and the music was great and more entertaining than normal. I think this is a good parish, and if I'm in a bind I won't hesitate to go here.
