I need to find another bank for a long time now and have been putting it off. Today was bad, but let me explain the worst I ever had, the details I should have posted about a long time ago. So I went into my local branch with my photo ID to have a certified bank check written from my account to my attorney, which also happened to be the county solicitor for the county in which this happened. The check was for a real estate closing that was scheduled for the same day. Bank had no problem with me being me...ID checked out fine and they knew me well anyway. However, they would not write a check from my own account to my attorney because the amount was high, and they claimed they did not know who he was. I explained everything and that I had a closing meeting for a property purchase, but that didn't matter to them. I explained that I was the customer, and they verified I was me and I know who my attorney was and so it shouldn't matter. After much arguing, I finally had to leave in disgust and called my attorney from parking lot to tell him we had to cancel. He asked why, and when I explained I was at PNC and they don't know who he is and so they won't release the funds, he was shocked. He told me to stay in my car and wait for him to call back. After some time, he called me back and said go back in, they will issue the check. I did and there were no more questions and they did it fast. I got to my attorney's office and asked how he did that. He said his wife (whom I don't know and to this day never met in my life) was friends with someone at the bank and he had her call them and told them its OK to serve me. So in the end, someone that I don't know, or never met, or never authorized any authority on my behalf, was able to have more control over my own money with a simple phone call than I myself was able to have in person and with a photo ID. This is border-line criminal in my opinion. When I called after the fact to protest to customer service, they said this is how their policy works.

We recently move to…read moreanother state but were assured we could keep our accounts open with them without any additional fees attached. We were very happy to hear that. We have had some issues with companies trying to remove funds illegally from our account and they work with us on those matters. We are able to deposit checks online and have them put into our accounts within 1-2 business days. Any time we have an issue they are patient with us and help us in any way they can. The only downfall is we haven't been able to get a loan we have applied to as we also have a line of credit with them and our payments are automatically paid on time, so we aren't sure why that is. But overall, we do love our bank and the tellers in the Oakland Avenue Office! We just miss seeing them in person these days...

I think it's probably the worst bank I've ever had. I had a personal account as well as 2 business…read moreaccounts with First Summit bank for 3 years. I had a car loan through them also. I had a little bit of financial hardship due to the pandemic. I was late on my car payment, probably 3 months late maybe 4. When I had the money to clear up all of the past due balance I called the collections department and talked to Mona. From the moment she answered the phone she was very rude. I told her I had the funds and that I would be able to pay it the following day. She told me that I had to have it paid that day or she was going to repo my car. I explained that I wouldn't make it to the bank before they closed. She said well I guess you lose your car then. I called the following day to see if I could change her mind. She told me that she would stop the repo if I brought the money in that day but I would still have to meet the repo company to verify the car was still at the address listed. I explained to Mona that that sounded a bit fishy. I asked if I could get in writing that if I pay the past due balance the car would remain in my possession. She said no I would just have to trust her. I don't trust anyone with that much money. Sure enough Mona was putting on a ruse. The repo driver explained how she has done this to many people before. She was going to collect the past due balance and still repo my car. Luckily I wasn't dumb enough to fall for her games and I kept my money. However my credit went from a 690 to 415. Now when I try to cash a check I am treated like a con artist. I wouldn't recommend First Summit Bank in any way shape or form. The worst bank ever. I only gave them a 1 star rating because 0 wasn't an option.
