Had a check for $Large on my account rejected by the First Community Credit Union, twice. At the time I thought I had enough funds to cover the check and I could not understand why it was rejected. i visited the Branch located on Westview trying to find out the reason. Luckily I was assisted by Mr. Everett Donegan. He patiently took the time to review the situation and put in an inquiry to the accounting department. He promised to e-mail me the results. He followed up rapidly. He explained that a portion of the funds I expected to use for the check had not been cleared from a previous bank. He assisted me in putting a hold on the check and helped me find a way to quickly transfer funds to the payee. He treated me with respect and even though most of the issues were caused by my actions. I have been trying for 2 whole days to activate my debit card. I have called the numbers and have been transferred to 6 different people and no one knows what to do. I can't even get help because I am working during their hours of 8-5. I am sick of this bank and how they keep stealing from me. There was a charge on my account that was not supposed to have went through as it was clearly fraud and I didn't even have the funds and I have overdraft that prevents the money from leaving my account. I have been subject to many hacks and scams and I have been with this evil bank for over 8 years. I will NEVER EVER EVER recommend anyone to do business with your crap of a bank. Do not recommend! I am literally about to apply for a refinance elsewhere just because of how outdated and horrible their processes are. The online payment option never works because the system never sends the authentication code. I tried paying online, entered all the tedious information for it to say the system cannot process, try again later. Then I've been calling all morning both the 800 number and local and it just keeps hanging up or is trying to take me to an option for medical equipment. Worst CU ever. read more

I would rate with 00000 stars if I could. No one seems to have any idea how things work or communicate with each other. I was told something different every time I tried to pay off a loan. You can't pay off the loan on the portal, the bank only accepts cash or checks (who the h**l uses those anymore). Had ACH set up but you can't use ACH to pay it off or pay by phone unless you want to pay a 15.00 convivence fee (I never paid that during the loan installments). Yet while I am trying to pay off the loan they are charging a per diem everyday. I called and asked if the per diem could be waived since the vehicle was totaled 3 months ago and we waited on GAP to pay. I was told they would look into it and call me back (NEVER HAPPENED). Here I am a week later paying it due to their lack of follow through. I am now at 45 minutes on hold after 3 people and still no manager will answer the phone. I think they do this on purpose to wear you down so you finally just pay the fees so you can be done with this horrible situation. I will not sign any contract that has these yahoos as the funding bank. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

I just joined First Community and not happy with my experience. My debit card detected fraud so they closed my card which I wasn't told this on the phone with the fraud department. So I come to this particular branch to get a new debit card and have to sign in and sit and wait. Say what?? At bank of Texas you just walk up to the teller and they help you out with replacing your card immediately (you just have to show them identification) so I was late picking up my daughter from school dealing with this fiasco. The absolute worst credit union experience ever. In 30+ years of banking including working at bank I have never dealt with a bank or credit union this difficult. 1. No way to add an EXTERNAL banking account to make credit card PAYMENT so only options are to GO to branch, Make MOBILE DEPOSIT, or PHONE pmt ($15 fee) 2. However, Per customer service they CANNOT see if you make a mobile deposit until "maybe" a few hours later. Imagine making a big deposit of funds and no one can verify it! I wouldn't dare trust this process. 3. Even if they could see it they can't guarantee funds availability - maybe funds will be available maybe take up to 3 days 4. Call customer service to inquire about other options and it's the worst. No explanation of how, why, when anythings going to happen not even a simple phone call transfer just "hold on" and next thing is you end up in another department explaining the situation. To which there are no solutions. 5. Because the process is so convoluted the payment that was originally being made is now late and there's a late fee ! 6. If your not local you can go into another credit union that may be on the same type system to make the payment but you have to figure out your cc acct # which is not your cc# on your actual card, its a separate number for that loan number, not to be confused with your access or member number.Not a big deal just another example of the added effort it takes to try to make a pmt 7. God help you if you're in another state and there's an online problem. The people that answer cannot help with anything. There's about 5 more things but if these are not enough examples then I wish you luck, patience, and understanding trying to get this credit union to work efficiently for you. The absolute ONLY reason I deal with them is because they bought out my previous credit union and I had a credit card with that institution. My experience has been very disappointing. Customer service has been unhelpful, and both the online and mobile banking platforms are difficult to use. There is no convenient option to transfer funds from external banks into the account, and obtaining a payoff letter has been unnecessarily complicated. HORRIBLE DRIVE THRU SERVICE at 2811 W. Grand Pkwy. I attempted to withdraw funds and the person disconnected the line. I didn't get the name but she has black hair with white streaks simular to Elvira. She also had big round glasses. I've complained to the manager at the location about this person disconnecting the calls before but she continues to do it. It appears as though she doesn't want to do her job. She is able to get away with it because there is no way to trace the calls. Just know if you go to this locations drive thru she will hang.up on you and refuse to serve you. Wow where do I start? I always read the negative reviews however dismissed them bc I rarely have any interaction with this bank. I only opened the account to have a local bank here in Houston that i could do shared banking with my bank back home. Ive been a customer well over a decade and today was the 1st time I was completely humiliated by your phone agents ! Particularly in the loan underwriting dept! I have been on a journey of paying off debts and have done pretty well since the pandemic, ive made 100% payments on all accounts, oldest age acct: 12 yrs, no late payments in 5 yrs again since the pandemic bc I was laid off like 80% of the rest of the world. My credit score is decent high 600s and 700 on another it could be better but ive seen worse! Today i decided to take my highest APR loans and do a debt consolidation loan with the hope of being able to pay off quicker! I even offered to pay more than I pay now 36 months, only asked for $13k so nothing crazy payments wouldve been $450 a month which was only $46 more than I pay now at the super high APR and was denied!!! I was not provided one good reason just a bunch of bull shit excuses that made no sense! 1st they accused me of a late payment reporting on a credit card in July 2025 which I know was not true, both the creditor and Equafax offered to send letters on my behalf to prove that their system credit loan reporting was inaccurate they did not listen to me however continued to make me feel like im not capable of paying my bills! Only a responsible person even offers to pay more at a shorter term and lower APR?! How will I ever get the loans paid off (18.9% and 19.8%) $407.58 a month not one dime has went on principle this debt consolidation wouldve helped me ! Thanks for nothing FCCU! The agent was so rude to me, kept talking down on me then had the nerve to say your DTI was .05 over what we would approve so you denied me over less than 1% smh then you say " getting a debt consolidation loan will make your DTI higher" that makes ZERO since! august 2025 breach of security data. social security numbers and customer names. received a 3rd party vendor letter in the snail mail five months later!!!! from your cyber security company about it and had no idea who it was for. had to "dig" to find it was my credit union!!!! you let your 3rd party vendor inform your customers via snail mail that there was a breach and hid your name from the correspondance. absolutely unbelievable and shameful... . nevermind you still use the robo-call answering service that requires customers to state their full social security number over the phone. find any credit union you can besides this one. absolutely bushleagued.. and they have managers that fight with you over the phone about things as obviously insecure as stating your social over the phone. ive given up on this ridiculous credit union... read more

When closing my account they refused to give me cash. They gave me a check but wouldn't cash it bc my account was closed. I was forced to cash it at an ACE check cashing for a $500 fee otherwise there would be a 2 week hold at another bank. Honestly, not sure how this credit union maintains any customers. The last months, interactions with this credit union have been atrocious. If you need a Supervisor for any issue that their customer service personnel can not handle, expect to wait 1-3 business days for help. I just had a VP in on location tell me, "I'm going out of my way to help you." Seriously, when did doing your job become, "Going out of my way." A few months ago, I forgot my drivers license at an ATM and they wanted ID to prove that they were holding my Texas Drivers License Identification before they would return it. It's like every failed government employee got a job at First Community Credit Union. When I reminded her, my ID is in their computer, and the person sitting in front of them matches the photo, they still would not budge. Somthing about POLICY!!! So, I asked she call her manager, I was told the manager was off that day, and she was the person in control. I asked her to call someone in corporate, at that point she threatened to call the police because it was 5 pm on Friday and she wanted to go home. Finally, another employee heard the conversation and spoke to the "Manager for Day" and my TDL was returned. I've been with this bank for over 3 years now.. It has not been a pleasant experience. This past Friday, it got dramatically worse. I see that they did not honor payment to one of my vendors. The check was "refused" even though I had more than 10X the amount of the check available in my account-they refused to pay it. Think that through.. The money was there, but they refused to pay the check. They were very kind and charged me a $30 fee for this wonderful feat that they accomplished. My vendor came to me and asked "what's up with this?". I called First Community and they pulled up my account-but only after wasting 5 full minutes of my time verifying every single piece of personal information.. I told her that nothing has changed-she still persisted in asking me for EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF MY PERSONAL INFORMATION. Mind you my vendor is standing beside me as I have to give ALL of this information over the phone just so they can view my account.. I gave them my personal "pass code"... It's not enough.. They want ALL OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION before they can speak to you.. What's the point of a personal pass code if it does NOTHING to identify you and expedite the call? What's the point in a personal pass code? So, after being treated like a criminal, I get to finally talk to them about the issue I'm calling about. The girl pulled up the account, saw that they refused to honor the check, saw that they STOLE $30 from me as a result of them not wanting to pay the check, but could not explain why. She said she would have to have someone call me back. That was Friday, October 17, 2025.. To date NO ONE has returned my call. I called today and speak to a different person.. They pulled up my account and reviewed it.. She said I see you had more than the balance that was necessary to cover the check, but we refused to honor the check because we were concerned about fraud.. I asked her what does that even mean? I wrote the check, I have an account with you.. I had the balance in the account.. She said yes you had the balance, but the money needed for the check was not "available". So, for some reason, they put a HOLD on my account.. Did not notify me.. Refused to honor a check written to a vendor, and then charged me $30 for.. according to her "we were protecting you from potential fraud".. I told her your bank has now STOLEN $30 from me, and inconvenienced me and my vendor as a result.. How is that helping ANYONE except YOU, THE BANK, to steal money from it's customers? I don't need protection from fraud.. I need protection from this credit union.. They agreed to refund my $30.. I told them to keep it. They obviously are so desperate to steal from their customers that they need it worse than I do. I'm now closing my accounts and moving away from this INEPT, WORTHLESS, PHONY, wanna-be financial institution. Read all of the reviews on this faux-bank before you decide to do business with them. Just purchased a new car and First Community Credit Union financed my car. I must say this has thus far has been the best experience i have had purchasing a car. The process was seamless, simple and quick. The loan department especially Elle was exceptional with helping get my online paperwork processed. If you're not a member you should become a member today. The credit you offer so many excellent products that i have taken advantage of. Red Ranger account for my grandson - every year they reward him a gift of 35.00 for good grades. By opening a new credit card with them i got 2 extra perks - extra 1/2 % off my interest rate for my new car and and excellect APR for the card - also its a rewards card. I do a christmas account every year and i have an emergency fund account for the unexpected. If you're not a member i suggest you get on over there and join! read more

Long time member (former) and I recommend avoiding this institution if at all possible. Once upon a time many years ago I raved over the service and ease of being a member of FCCU Houston. They were great, but as time passed they lost that personable, customer service and caring atmosphere. Perhaps changes in board members, employees or just a sign of the times. But what sealed the deal for me was the handling of a recent fraud case that I had with FCCU. This was not my first round with fraudsters and in the past FCCU worked with me really well, kept me updated, communicated with me on the progress of the case and everything was always amicable. That is no longer true. The most recent saga began in November of 2024 and I have to announce my utter disappointment with the current employees of FCCU. No communication, no follow up telephone calls, no emails. Nothing. They literally told me it was my fault and that was it. The fraud that took place was within their OWN walls and it was MY fault. An internal (inside FCCU) account to account transfer was the fraud committed and that was MY fault. I (ME), I went to the TOMBALL BRANCH and dealt with Rachel Bowers and the Branch Manager- Elliot Donogan (sp) ? on April 7 to settle this ordeal once and for all. In November of 2024 (when the fraud case was begun) the balance of my credit card was +/- $4300.00 I ordered them to close the account (all of my accounts-since both my debit card and credit card) had been affected in this scam. I spoke with the issuer of the credit card (the 800 number that is on the back of the card) and they assured me that there would be no further activity on that card. (No further charges?) I spoke with a lady (Shannon) on December 2, 2024 at 10:20 and verified that the credit card account was canceled and closed. You would believe that all further issues would be avoided? Nope. not with FCCU. No communication, no "hey! we got your case closed and your balance is what was on the card before the fraud was committed. No. Instead I get the grand total of +/- $4,888.00 as the amount that i must pay to close the account. I argued with "Elliot" who told me that he did me a favor by removing the $100.00 in late fees. I asked him about the "extra" $500.00 that was randomly stacked onto my balance and he commenced to try and convince me that those were "standard" charges since I hadn't made a payment (since the fraud was committed). Ok. now I get heated. First off: You refuse to take responsibility for the fact that the scam was committed inside the place where YOU work (literally YOUR JOB) You make no effort to communicate the outcome of your investigation (Blamed the U, S Postal service for not delivering my mail) Do not send me emails regarding the outcome of the investigation but..... you can send me advertisements about FCCU MEMBER PERKS? (The USPS delivered those just fine and YAHOO mail delivered those to my email box?) YOU shut down my ability to access my online account information AND you tell ME that I am irresponsible? Hey ELLIOT! That is literally YOUR JOB! To take care of YOUR customers! To ensure the security of OUR money! It is not just ELLIOT, he is just one of many that FCCU has employed that FAIL everyday at that their job. February 4, 2025 at 10:44 I called to check on the status of my case: I spoke with four (4) people and one of them twice to get answers. Humberto, Tiffany, Denise Malone and "Honey" at separate times during the course of the day and several times later to get answers. Left messages and received no call back. Rachel Bowers (looking at her computer monitor) "there is no record of you ever calling since December". "We have lots of people in our call centers, and they ALWAYS make notes on your account when they speak with you." I call BS on that, OR these people simply DID NOT DO THEIR JOB. (Oh...... and by the was Rachel; there is an 800 number on the backside of the credit card) She told me that there wasn't any telephone number on the back of the credit card when I explained to her that I called the number on the back of the card to close my account. If you work at a bank and know your JOB......you SHOULD know that. But I am the defenseless, ignorant, irresponsible putz customer that you think you have the power to take advantage of? My other bank (a smaller credit union) is heads and shoulders above FCCU in every aspect of business and yes..... you got my $4,888.00 yesterday and Elliot you feel pretty satisfied that you "stood your ground" puffed out your belly and wandered away from the situation. But if your bosses have any sense whatsoever they will be calling you soon to have a chat. You sir are not a manager, you are just a "placeholder" and you might feel empowered in your status but rest assured that people like you are temporary. First Community Credit Union is such a horrible bank, they do not listen to their customer's. Someone stole my credit card and did some fraudlent charges and this bank paid out and I did not know that I had overdraft protection, the bank is a scammers! They caused me alot of unnessary stress, if I did not have my car loan with them, I would have close this account and never looked back, I do not like to feel that I am not heard especailly by a bank that I trusted, they are rude and unpleasant, they hung up the phone on me sereval times when I asked how can I report the bank. I went to the Hwy 6 location due to 2 unnecessary overdraft fees and they have not been corrected leading to my account to continually be overdraft...this was 2 days ago! Usually this thing has been fixed but since their new upgrade things are taking an excessive amount of time to fix ! Company doesn't have 24hr atms (transactions monitored by attendants remotely) and their online banking is about as useful as my other credit union 20 years ago. Very dated and lacking in support features. They charged me months of "printed paper bill fees" and never reimbursed me despite opting out months prior. Pretty pathetic. read more

Overdraft kicked in from my cc even though I had a direct deposit that same day. I find it crazy and even predatory for a financial institution to not process credits before debits. It took several business days to be told even though it was not my fault and I had sufficient funds that credits are not always processed first. I received no communication and had to call regarding the issue 3 teams. Of 4 people I spoke with not could give me clear and concise answers to my questions. I had an auto loan with FCCU. My vehicle was totaled in an accident, and insurance paid off all but $ 269.00. The DAY AFTER my insurance paid, I sent in a final payment of $269.00 to finalize the loan, with the exact same payment method that I had used for the 2-year term of the loan. FCCU claims (falsely, as I have proof of cleared payment) that they never received the payment. These asshats went on to attempt to repossess a totaled vehicle (broke in half) that had not been in my possession for months. They THEN reported to all credit bureaus that I was in default, and subject to repossession, over a vehicle that was shown as totaled by an insurance company 2 months prior. I made no less than 25 calls, to 72 different employees that all claim to have fixed it. It has yet to be fixed. This truly is the most criminally incompetent financial institution I have ever seen. Please report any issues you have with FCCU to the NCUA.Gov ...they are the governing body for a credit union, and FCCU definitely cannot self regulate. To respond to your response...I have contacted FCCU, I have actually filed a formal complaint against your business, WITH the link you sent...months ago. Horribly understaffed location, gives no directions as to where to go for specific things, you could stand in line for 30 minutes at the teller just for them to turn you around and tell you to wait an hour to see one of the guys in the office for what you needed, and they don't care.
