His ability to both entertain and enlighten is a rare gift that keeps you connected throughout the service. One of the best parts of this church is the variety of groups you can get involved in. I'm part of the soccer group, and it's been an absolute blast. The people are wonderful, and it really feels like a family both during and after church. My husband and I started attending St Joseph's Church when our boys were six and three years old…read more Although we lived in Stoneham, this wonderful church in Wakefield was perfect for us, because we always took our boys into what was called "the crying room". We were able to attend Mass with two little ones in a glass-enclosed room and not disturb anyone. My sons are now 45 and 42! About 18 years ago, we returned to St Joseph's, after attending St Patrick's in Stoneham for many years, only because my boys were attending St Patrick's School. We felt like we had "come home". Fr Ron is wonderful, and has truly enriched our spiritual lives. There is so much available at St Joseph's to increase anyone's faith! There is daily Mass (twice each morning), along with praise and worship of the Eucharist, Adoration of the Eucharist, Bible classes, faith formation discussion groups, and opportunities to volunteer to help the bereaved, along with knit and pray while making beautiful afghans for those in need. There are dinners for the needy Who welcome volunteers. St Joseph's is a wonderful family parish that is welcoming to everyone. Fr Ron is a holy and faith-filled pastor who will inspire you with his homilies. My husband and I feel so fortunate to be members of St Joseph's Church in Wakefield.

The pastors are kind, compassionate, and inspiring. I've felt more fellowship here in just a few short months than I ever did in my former church, which I had been a part of for my entire life. As a Catholic who also happens to be a new neighbor of this church, I thought I would walk my dogs…read morethrough the grounds on a beautiful day while I checked out the church. I was approached by a priest, who's name I don't know, who scolded me for being on "private property" with a dog, and then continued to scold me as I expressed my surprise to his scoldings. I've never encountered such an unwelcoming and abrasive priest. He skipped all pleasantries when he approached me, and became even more upset with me when I assured him that not only did my dog not "crap" (his words) but that if they did I would always pick it up. Very surprised and disturbed by this encounter, I don't recommend this parish and will plan to stick to my former one instead.

Pastor Gary McClenthen is a warm, sincere pastor, who really cares about his congregation. His sermons really make you think about what it is to be a Christian. He preaches about how God is all love. Jesus Christ is our savior and intercessor. The devil is the accuser. God will forgive all of our sins if we repent and turn to Jesus Christ. Maplewood Baptist Church is a warm and welcoming church. The people are warm and caring. Sometimes, the church building may not feel that warm, because there are problems with the furnace. However, it is worth the small discomfort to come and be among friends, who really care about each other.
