Most of the time we use a branch closer to our home but this branch is convenient if you have errands to run in the 377 area in Watauga. After getting a little money, I was headed out the door when a gentleman (Cergio) asked if I was interested in saving money on my Chevy's loan. I told him my Chevy was paid for but we bought a new Cadillac a few months prior and I had been trying to get that loan over to EECU with zero luck. In fact, I had been told they were 90+ days behind and were not working to refinance loans very much. I was shocked when the people at our home branch had told me this. All previous experiences with EECU had been great in terms of incentive, speed, service, etc.... I had always found everyone very helpful and responsive so this lagging lengthy display was a new experience. I asked Cergio if he was serious and if he could get the loan switched over within a few weeks. He told me he felt that was exactly what he would do. I spent few minutes getting him our details, exchanging emails and phone numbers and off I went curious as to how this would progress. I had applied four months prior at our branch but was told they could t help us for months. Within 2-3 weeks, Cergio got our loan refinanced, saved us some money with a lower rate and had the loan closed. He even assisted in getting our insurance certificate over to the right people at EECU. Thank you Cergio and Watauga EECU! You did a super job and helped me accomplish something I had been trying to do for months. He had no idea when he approached me. I wanted to let his management team know that his efforts and service are rare today and we appreciate him!

    I have been attempting to resolve a serious issue with EECU since November 2025, and the level of…read moremismanagement and lack of accountability is unacceptable. After receiving written confirmation that my account was closed on December 1, 2025, EECU failed to actually close it. Fees began accruing the very next day due to their internal error, ultimately resulting in collections activity and damage to my credit. Between November 2025 and March 2026, I made 11 separate good-faith attempts to resolve this matter, including phone calls, in-person visits at a branch, email correspondence, and even online chat. Despite these extensive efforts, I was repeatedly given inconsistent and conflicting information by multiple representatives, and no one took ownership of correcting what is clearly an internal failure. What is particularly concerning is EECU's response to a Better Business Bureau complaint, where they claimed attempts had been made to resolve this matter and implied that my husband and I were simply dissatisfied with the outcome. This is categorically inaccurate. At no point did EECU meaningfully address the central issue: that my account was confirmed closed on December 1, 2025, yet remained active due to their error, resulting in improper fees and credit damage. Even now, EECU has failed to correct the improperly assessed fees or repair the negative impact to my credit. I have also not been provided with a clear, itemized accounting distinguishing legitimate charges from fees incurred after the account should have been closed. This experience reflects serious breakdowns in internal processes, staff training, and customer accountability. I strongly caution others to document every interaction and to be extremely vigilant when relying on EECU to execute critical account actions.
