My previous review from 2016 was 5 star, and it's overdue for an update. We are blessed to travel regularly, and FDT has given us valued advice and assistance. We have used several agents there but for several years Holly has been our go to person. SHe has clued us into new destinations and the best resorts for our travel preferences and budget. How much does this help cost? You dont pay them anything and no obligation to use their info, so theres literally no reason not to see what they can do for you. I highly recommend you give them a try. They often find better deals than online info and offer invaluable recommendations. Especially if you are traveling out of the country.. having someone to call when theres a problem is a life saver. We have been stranded out of the country and would have definitely missed our plane without their help. Our private transportation didnt show up. Currently, we had a travel disaster, and Im so grateful for Fdt and Holly for their help. The resort we were scheduled to go to had a fire and will be closed for several months. The Mexican resort already had been paid, and we fear our money was gone and no vacation wouldn't happen. Travel agent handled the nightmare of smoothing it all out so we still have a great trip coming. They have the connection, expertise, and experience to make your travel the trip you've dreamed of. We have been working with First Discount Travel for 4 years now. It first started off with needing help booking travel to Greece for a group wanting to attend a friend's wedding. We needed some help and found First Discount Travel from several recommendations on the Oakley/Hyde Park Friends and Parents Facebook group. They made it so easy for us and found some amazing deals. My husband and I fell in love with traveling and decided to travel more - of course with the help of First Discount Travel. We have worked with Jess Milano on each one of our trips and she has been amazing. We recently got married on March 4, 2022 in Mexico; and Jess was amazing at helping us with communicating with the resort and our families to get everything booked. I'd have to say I never thought I would use a travel agency with all the online sites today, but I will always go to First Discount Travel now. The way that it works is that you DON'T PAY ANYTHING to the First Discount Travel. They get the pay back from the hotels that you book through, but you would pay the SAME price you would online anyway. The benefit is that you are working with someone who knows every site that they book you with. Some of the highlights We worked with Jen who helped my girlfriend and I find a great place which was Los Cabos. She saved us from a few other sites that would have been a lesser experience. Jen made sure we had all our paper work together and walked us through the process on how to get the passport and what to do at the airports and at the hotels. Not only did Jen take care of us before the trip but on our way back Jen text, emailed, and called us within 10 minutes of our flight home being delayed causing us for an overnight and she had listed two options for us to get home and all we had to do was walk up to our airline and request a flight change for one of the two. We made it home on time without any issues. I would give this place 10/10 if I could. I will personally never go without this place again when planning a big trip. read more

He helped plan the entire trip, and it was the best trip we could have ever asked for. He was so helpful and excited for us - almost like it was his own vacation! (He has 20+ years of experience in the industry) Sadly, we moved from Cincinnati a few months after the honeymoon, but we have such great confidence in Jerry, that we've actually used him for TWO more trips! The following year we decided to head to Mexico with another couple, and it was AGAIN INCREDIBLE!!! Set up a great trip for us in December! If only they booked it when I asked them to in April... I have never been hassled by a company more in my life. H**** was immediately rude when she did not understand why the company did not book our trip, I sent email chains from previous conversation and she claims she doesn't have them in her system, she then continuously brought up irrelevant questions trying to belittle me. This company has a good track record but things can slip under bad management I guess. Due diligence is HUGE in a company. Look elsewhere! Jerry was actually great though. My husband & I went through First Discount Travel for our honeymoon because we created a wedding website on TheKnot.com & were eligible for free travel planning assistance. From all reviews I have read, this travel agency is a good one to use. Holly was the travel agent assigned to us & to be honest, our experience with her could have gone better. She was not very friendly when I would call & ask questions. She also seemed to enjoy telling me things like "at anytime your flight could change & there is nothing we can really do about it" or "You didn't pay for the honeymoon package, you paid for Preferred club" when the honeymoon package is included in preferred club at the specific resort we went to, so yes, we did pay for it... as a Covid bride that was the last thing I needed to be dealing with. Holly can plan a trip, no doubt about it (our honeymoon was wonderful). But if you are wanting to work with someone who is customer focused, helpful, accommodating, or just an overall nice person, she is not your girl. It looks like this agency has other travel agents who seem like they are great, my advice would be to go with one of them. The easiest way to explain my experience with Holly would be that she didn't like to make things easy on me or my husband. There were always hoops to go through or some kind of attitude to deal with. With flights, hotels, excursions and anything you can think of being possible to do from your own computer, you'd think (like I did most of my life) that using a travel agent isn't very beneficial when planning a vacation, but having the help of Jerry and his crew at First Discount makes vacationing a whole lot easier. I'll never book a trip again without consulting with them first. They offer great advice and come up with as many or as few options as you want, and never seem to mind spending as much time with you as they need to. I couldn't be happier with the service I've received from them. We've used AAA before which is fine too, but these guys take the service up a notch. I will say that we weren't completely satisfied with the first agent we spoke with while planning our honeymoon to Hawaii (not that she was terrible but she omitted a few details by mistake), and the owner (Jerry) reacted by bending over backwards to do everything he could for us. He sent us complementary gifts when we arrived to each hotel and granted us access to the Hyatt Regency Club; these were not things we asked for but he still took care of us and helped us out tremendously. On top of that he gives honest feedback and isn't just trying to sell you the most expensive travel package. When we booked our Caribbean vacation he actually convinced us to go somewhere significantly cheaper than we originally looked at because it was a better quality resort for the price. Also they make sure to cover every little detail that you wouldn't necessarily think of when you book on your own and it really puts your mind at ease knowing you have everything taken care of before you even leave your house. There is a reason this travel agency wins the "best of" award from The Knot seemingly every single year. I'm sure others are fine too but you can't go wrong using First Discount. If you're hesitant for whatever reason (can't honestly think why you would be), get a quote from them and then try to book everything yourself. If you do that I promise you'll never find a reason to not use them for any of your big trips. read more

We booked our honeymoon with Jerry Katz at FDT in 2012, and we couldn't be happier. My husband and I wanted to go to Europe on a cruise, but had no idea where to start - Jerry took care of everything from flights to cruise, to excursions and hotel stays/transportaion after the cruise. It was the most amazing vacation we've ever been on. We recently booked a trip to Punta Cana, DR. He again took very good care of us , making sure our flights, hotel and transportation was perfect. We just returned from a Tauck riverboat cruise down the Danube. The trip was fantastic! Meredith and Deanna from First Discount Travel helped us plan our trip and they did a wonderful job. They had so much knowledge about the places we wanted to go and the things we wanted to see. They helped us plan everything from our flights to our Tauck tour and our ground transportation.
