Dr kwon is the man! Love going to the dentist because of him, he isn't the type to judge or give you lectures.

Great quality of care, very helpful and thoughtful through the process. This was almost an emergency as I was in a lot of pain and they came through! Very grateful for them and for the team!

It's been about a year since I had the unfortunate experience of being treated at this office. Let…read moreme preface my review by explaining that I unfortunately had tetracycline as a child which greatly impacted the development of my teeth. This has led me to spend a lot more time in the dentists chair than your average person. I have had extensive amounts of cosmetic work done and take such good care of my teeth that I have not needed any cavities or related work done in a while. Which brings me to my initial visit with Dr Li. The first time we met his office performed the perfunctory routine of X-rays and exams. Imagine my shock when I was informed I was going to need no less than three root canals along with other maintenance. I was shocked to be honest due to my due diligence of oral hygiene. But I trusted his word and set up a schedule of work to be done in the future. I decided to have one of the root canals taken care of right off the bat and that is what was scheduled for my next visit. After arriving and sitting in the chair and having one of my teeth carved away for the root canal I was informed that I didn't need it after all and that it was just a minor cavity. But now I was going to need a crown on that tooth. I was fitted for the crown and while waiting for it a technician entered the chat and asked me to choose what color I wanted for the crown. And there I had to decide, without my glasses, in a not so well lit room to decide what color matched best with my existing teeth. I chose wrong. After getting home and looking closely in the mirror it was clearly not a match. I called the office the next day to register my complaint with the office manager Rachel. Right off the bat, before apologizing or attempting to comfort my displeasure, I was confronted by the fact that I had signed off on it consequently relinquishing them of any responsibility. Naturally my temperature rose as did my anger and voice. Rachel felt uncomfortable with my tone and put me on hold for a few minutes so I could "calm down". When she returned we agreed that I could come in and have the Dr look at it again. When I tried to reschedule however a few weeks later she informed me that she was uncomfortable with my demeanor and didn't feel safe having me as a client anymore and recommended other practices to contact. I asked if Dr Li was still going to take a look at the work I was unhappy with and she agreed on a final visit. When I arrived again, I was taken back into an exam room where Dr Li took a couple of seconds to look at my mouth again before he exclaimed that it "looks seamless". Comical and dismissive and unprofessional to say the least. I warn anyone who is considering visiting this establishment to really consider what you experience on your first visit. Listen to the way he talks to his subordinates and to you as a patient. And if you feel like you are being sold a list of unnecessary work by all means get a second opinion. I will close by adding that the original three root canals I was told I needed were not even mentioned by my new dental care team. Good Luck!

DON'T EVER CONSIDER!!!…read more SCAMMERS!!! On my first visit to the office, I was charged for: * Cleaning * Professional Evaluation $171 !?!? They didn't even diagnose my cavities correctly!!! * Bitewing images * Intraoral images * PANORAMIC IMAGE !!! WHAT FOR IF YOU ALREADY HAVE BITEWING AND INTRAORAL ONES!?!?! ON MY SECOND COMING: My assigned doctor was Ellis Jeffrey but Hui Pham was the one working on me, which is a direct violation of the HDS policy! They persuaded me that I needed fillings on five teeth. Being naive I trusted them. What followed has been a 2 week medical nightmare caused by severely flawed clinical execution that sent me to the hospital and required out-of-pocket emergency surgeries on another island. Here is the exact factual timeline of what occurred: June 20: Dr. Huy Q. Pham rushed through five fillings on my teeth in just one hour. June 25: I developed debilitating, radiating pain, intense jaw throbbing, and a low-grade fever. June 26: I returned to the clinic in agony. Dr. Pham completely re-drilled and replaced two of the brand-new fillings. During this visit, he explicitly admitted to me that his initial work was flawed, stating that the filling on tooth #14 "was compacted too hard" and the material on tooth #3 "wasn't properly sealed." He did not document this emergency corrective appointment in my official records. June 27: Less than 24 hours after he re-drilled my teeth, the pain escalated exponentially. I was admitted to the Emergency Room for an acute, spreading jaw and dental infection and placed on high-dose systemic antibiotics. June 29 & 30: I had to urgently fly to Oahu to see an advanced endodontic specialist for emergency bilateral root canals on teeth #3 and #14 to extract necrotic (dead) tissue caused directly by the trauma of the initial fillings. July 1: I had to be evaluated by another dentist to check the remaining fillings. It was confirmed that neighboring teeth #13 and #29 are now suffering from severe hyperocclusion (high bites) and leaking margins from the original work, requiring completely replacing them to avoid further nerve death. Now: I am still going through the pain in other teeth - more root canals need to be done. Also, one of the previously done root canals Dr. Pham's rushed work exhausted my annual insurance maximum on failed, hazardous treatments, forcing me to pay thousands out of pocket to clean up his mistakes. A formal Quality of Care grievance has been launched with Hawaii Dental Service (HDS) compliance. If you value your health, your wallet, and your peace of mind, stay far away from this clinic.

Dr Walker was recommended to us by close friends almost two years ago and we are so appreciative of his dental care, hygienist and that of his very friendly, professional staff. Hoping he will continue his dental services for years to come. We highly recommend Dr. Walker and Kona Smiles.

I had crown prep work done at a different local office that went terribly. I was flying out for a wedding 2 days after my front tooth temp crown fell of for the second time in as many days (and it never looked all that good to begin with). I was in pain and feeling real gross looking. I called Dr. Walker's office from a friend's recommendation, and was worked in for a late same day consult. Dr. Walker not only consulted with me, but he reshaped, polished, and permanently cemented my temporary crown (knowing how much extra work that would be later). I felt kind of silly being so vain, but he made me feel like it was just as important to him. The staff stayed late to make sure this was done with plenty of time for my trip. It looked AMAZING. Even people who I told couldn't believe it was a temporary crown. Other awesome things about this office: -Dr. Walker is SO good at numbing. I'm terrified of needles, especially in the dental realm, and it doesn't hurt at all when he does it. -Janet at the front desk is an angel. She always finds a way to work around my awful schedule and remembers details about things we talked about at the last visit. They have me as a patient for life. If you're tired to the big, crappy revolving door dentists on island, check this place out. You will NOT regret it.
