I initially went to this office because they accepted my insurance . I had several negative interactions with this business . One was a dental hygienist who actually made my mouth hurt for a week after the cleaning and gave me a recommendation for water pick use that was ill advised and I ended up with severe gum recision within 3 weeks of that cleaning . Secondly , our insurance was delayed being consulted until right before my husband's oral surgery . We were verbally told it wasn't covered . My husband paid the bill in full. After the surgery our insurance sent a statement saying we should have received a discount which was about 50% because we were members of that insurance . The office didn't honor it . Thirdly , almost every appointment we had with them had the time and/ or date changed from the original appointment . I do not recommend this dental office . read more

What an abysmal experience! I went in for a sinus lift and after 3+ hours in the chair and 3 sets of x-rays, the dentist proclaimed that he had pierced the sinus floor. Sounds like malpractice to me. Overnight, this caused a raging sinus infection requiring antibiotics, steroids, pain killers, etc. The bill? $2700 When I sat down with their office manager to seek some relief on the charges, I was turned down... flat. I have been a patient there for 2+ years and have spent upwards of $10,000 on deltal work. The least they could have done was meet me half-way for the loss of work, pain and suffering and a huge bruise on my face that took weeks to fade. Bottom line, I wouldn't take a feral animal to Elite. They are dangerous and uncaring. It's a smaill island. Word will get around. read more

Had a TERRIBLE experience here today. Took my teen daughter in, we are visiting for a month on island and she has regular braces and had a wire poking her that was very painful. Asked if they could cut it, willing to hear a no since we weren't patients but hoping for relief since it's a super simple thing that our ortho has done several times. The doctor broke an entire bracket tiff. Then charged us $65! My daughter left in tears because she's desperate to be done with braces and is afraid this is going to set her timeline back. read more

My husband I recently moved to the Big Island from Maui and this is the only Dental Clinic that would give us an appointment. No one else was interested in our business and several clinics never returned my calls. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and professionalism of everyone. Elite! There is NOT a more friendly place. The first time they did a whole set of xrays. My whole set was not allowed for 2 more months by my insurance. Only once every 3 years. I would have preferred they wait or let me know. Other than that. They are FANTASTIC! A wee bit " booked" after Covid close downs. To be expected. Of course. They fix fillings. Crowns. Cavities. You name it. The DIFFERENCE here? The ALOHA spirit of Hawaii shines through from receptionist to dentist! They're great! I have been to at least 20 dentists in my life. Had a great hygiene appointment with Barrie. She continues to recommend new techniques, and doing one particular one since last quarterly visit, has improved my teeth and gums immensely. She was impressed by what she saw. The technique? Using gauze soaked with aloe vera juice to brush my teeth, straddling the teeth with my fingers, rubbing along the gum line. And now she's having me roll up some aloe vera soaked gauze to make the piece long, and then use a movement like shining your shoes to truly get the back teeth on both sides. I would never get a toothbrush in there. Hard to describe I know. Wish I could do better. Anyway, my mouth has not been this healthy in many years. I'm stoked. And my gratitude is huge. Excellent staff from from the front desk, to dental assistant Tori to the Dentist Dr Murray who was pleasant and competent as well. I Was seen right away. X-rays were painless by Tori X-rays usually hurt me because the films pinch my mouth. They have a state of the X-ray system that uses a different technique with the size, placement and positioning of films. Also included were panoramic films! I do not have dental insurance. The office has a program for reduced cost care when you join their cost saving program with a yearly reasonable fee. You get moderately discounted services with this program. The hygienist Barrie did a more then through job of cleaning my teeth and explained some oral care techniques with me that I have never heard. I walked away with new knowledge to ensure healthy gums and teeth. Barrie Even showed me a new glossing technique and gave me a baggie of these flossing sticks. I feel very safe in the competent cate of this office under the car of Dr. Murray. I can see that she has integrity. and is honest and will not do unnecessary procedures. Mary Linda is the most kind and amazing person ever!!! I had my lingual bar break (metal wire running along inside of my bottom teeth) the night before leaving CA. The metal was pointed and cutting the side of my tongue to the point of me slurring my speech. Mary Linda was able to get me in within 2 hours of calling, was able to fix my issue along with ensuring I wouldn't feel any further discomfort. Any to top it off, she gave me a hug and said it was on her and to enjoy the rest of my vacation. I seriously couldn't be more appreciative and hope everyone checks this place out! Came in for emergency as my tooth crown came off. Which by the way, I got my crown from here few years back. The receptionist was not listening and not accommodating. She said, "we have to treat you as new patient since you were not here recently. And we can't take you in cause we're already busy, come back in 2 days or longer". What???? What if I have infection or worse! That's why I came It's an emergency! She made such bad impression. Don't know anything about the Dr's. Trying to arrange a cleaning was told we don't do that, must first see the dentist and get x-rays...$230 not including cleaning. Btw...rude folks at the desk when trying to obtain this info. Called "manager" and was told by him that yes, we need to upgrade our customer service we've had many complaints...no shit. He told me to get my recent x-rays and he'd see about getting me in for a cleaning. Sent them and never heard back. As far as I know there is no law here that says one must first see the Doc. Elite did my root canal and crown which I was worried about because all of my life I was led to believe a root canal was a dreadful experience. Got me in right away I was here on vacation and had a throbbing tooth. Luckily the dentist made a next day appointment and was incredibly helpful. They found a mishap of my oral surgeons and were able to prescribe a treatment that got me through my trip. Saw Dr.Hoshino who decided it was not the tooth but a nerve underneath it. $189 later and still in pain I finally saw a different Dr. weeks later at another clinic who immediately did the root canal and I am without pain. I came in to get my teeth cleaned a bit later after my initial exam, and Sami did my cleaning. She was so friendly, gentle, caring and understanding of my squeamishness. She was SO GENTLE, I didn't get stabbed or prodded and she did a very thorough job getting everything after not having had a cleaning in over a year.
