We are IHG gold members. My profile says that I want an upper level room away from the elevator. We were assigned to the 2nd floor. Next to the elevator. The hotel was relatively empty. So no excuse for our room placement. The decor was a bit old and tired. The bathroom had 2 dispensers of shampoo. But no conditioner.

I have ridiculously thick hair, so I asked for extra shampoo and conditioner, to which she happily accommodated. Our room was equipped with a mini fridge and a microwave, which was helpful for storing our road trip snacks and heating our dinner. The beds were super comfortable and the shower was powerful. The room seemed very clean and we slept like babies. In the morning, the hotel offered a complementary breakfast that featured a variety of foods, as well as some packaged foods, like danishes, that we were able to snag to munch on during the drive. We were pleasantly surprised how cute, clean, and comfortable the room was! The outside area is beautiful, with lots of flowers and decor. The room itself was clean and modern. Sterling ended up a mistake in numerous ways. Starting with the Ramada. Once a great stay, this facility is so run down, we handed the keys back and headed for Fort Morgan. Even the woman at the desk recommended we take a good look at the room before paying. Good thing. Clearly dilapidated over the years, it's clearly time to renovate or just plain knock it down. Very sad. While that second woman was polite and a godsend to us, the first clerk we dealt with was rude and abrupt. First of all, the Travellodge has no own reception room and I had to go the neighbor hotel, a fully booked Super 8, in order to just get into the Travelodge. Going to my room was....interesting. The staircase right next to the dumpster was filthy and smelled awful. I had to open the door to my room with force, cause it was jammed and broken. The air inside was stuffy and smelled of rotting pigs. The shower in the bathroom was disgusting, filled with so much dirt and the facilities caked with so much mold, I didn't dare use it. The handle for the fridge was broken, the wallpaper was partly ripped off, the comforter had stains all over it and the sheet was stained with what looked like blood. I decided to use my sleeping bag and I had a pretty restless night on a depleted mattress. And top it off, when I called Travelodge.com they actually tried to convince me to become a member for future savings when I stayed with them....unbelievable. No star for Travellodge...if possible I'd give them minus stars ...
