Ive had three children attend FLS. My first two were fine. But they fired the professional seasoned principal. They appointed the inexperienced first grade teacher as the principal. She lacks the leadership experience and education to lead the school to its next chapter. This school also lacks instructor diversity. The school is led by all women that previously attended the school and now work there in order to get a discounted tuition and preferential treatment. Currently there are two male teachers. There is only one PE teacher and she a friend of the leadership team. Consequently they all live in a bubble. The academic curriculum has declined and is outdated. The principal refuses to implement curriculum to improve the technology and AI curriculum. There is only one computer teacher and the students meet once a week. They lack excellent foreign language, music and arts instructors. I would not recommend this school if you are looking for a quality Christian private school. Please do your research your child(s) education depends on it. read more

The 1 star rating is for their front end staff. I've come across two admins who are the only ones that seem to answer the phone. Both have been continuously rude, with condescending attitudes, and seem to have absolutely no regard for how they are representing the school. When I've called to ask questions I've been told "Haven't you read our email?" obviously not and as a parent that pays tuition I would think your job would be to encourage parents to be as informed as possible. First Lutheran, do BETTER! Train your staff to be KIND, HELPFUL, patient and understanding. For future families who are thinking of having their kids attend this school, the teachers are great! They are the ones that make it worth it and deserve a 5 star rating. The ones I've had the pleasure of interacting with have been pleasant, knowledgeable and, best of all, very caring. These last two school years have been different for sure but they've worked hard to make the transition seamless. Upper management, DO BETTER with your front end staff! We are all going through the hardships of this pandemic, I would hope that as a religious institution you would be a place parents can depend on, instead causing more frustration. The front staff that answers the phone is rude and speaks to you in a condescending tone. Her attitude is egregious especially with dealing with hard-working paying parents who help to pay her salary! She has no patience and does not represent the school in a Christ-like manner. read more

My daughter just started at this school, but friends with children that attended this school for 7 years are always talking so many great things too we chose to give it a try. So far my daughter wakes up every morning so happy to go to school. Her only complain is that they don't give her mayo to add to her burger LOL I will update this review as the years pass, I am hoping that it remains the same =) read more

My daughter(Nara) loves the school. The teachers and staff are very caring and accommodating with busy parent schedules. They are encouraging to the students as well as parents. The curriculum allows my daughter to find confidence in her academic performance. I cannot say enough about the dedication of school staff. Lots of extra curricular activities are possible: Chess, drum, Spanish, arts and crafts, cooking, sports, choir, guitar, piano, after-school homework center, and so on. We had NO intention of our daughter going to private school as we purposely bought our home in a great school district. However after starting her in preschool at First Lutheran we fell in love with the campus, staff, their philosophy on learning...everything! We were able to have her attend TK despite just making the cutoff for Kinder in public school by two weeks. It was the best decision ever as Mrs Montoya is amazing! My daughter flourished under her so much that we stayed for Kindergarten and have been just as impressed. We are now looking at keeping her at First Lutheran through 8th grade as it is so reassuring to have on site after school care that includes a wide variety of classes, including cooking, dance, music, mad science, etc that she can enjoy while we are finishing up our work days. I've had two children attend First Lutheran and all of the teachers we've had have been absolutely amazing. They are loving and caring and my kids adore them. The school is always very well maintained and clean. Lots of school functions where the entire family is welcome. The school itself has a preschool and goes up to grade 8, however the school is not crowded at all. Love First Lutheran! read more

It is a good school with good facilities for a private school. So I will give them props for that. However their kindergarten teacher Mrs. Fadale threatens the kids to keep them quiet. I personally have witnessed her do that few times, which is not what you want to see, when you drop off your child. I'm not sure, possibly this might have to do with the fact that the kids are unruly or that she is just having a bad day. The teachers should know better to control their emotions than to take it all on the kids which can have a negative influence on the kids who look up to their teachers as their role models. - A concerned parent. read more

We love First Lutheran School. We started there in the Early Childhood Education program because we needed a "daycare." We love these people and how they treat our children so much that we will remain through 8th grade. Small classes, specialized teaching, plenty of extra curriculars, absolutely amazing teachers (that feel like family) and the best education with a focus on the Christian faith. "Private school" is an option, and it's been worth every penny! read more

The best school and decision we ever made was enrolling Daniel in First Lutheran School. They have the best education, dedicated teachers (qualified ++), excellent computer program, forward-thinking (they are using MAP instead of SAT) - just to name a few. Their field trips are AWESOME! Daniel has been to Sacramento, Alpine, Astro Camp, SIMI (Catalina). For 8th grade, they will go to the East coast. The Principal is totally EXCELLENT. They have a music program through Arts Alive, a few concerts a year, and really involve the parents. If you are looking for an outstanding school to provide your child an advantage in the education quality, please consider First Lutheran. read more

Our daughter has been going to First Lutheran since 1st grade and she just started 7th this fall. The education she has received has been fantastic!! They also provide art, music and sports and many after curricular activities. And most importantly the community of students and parents are like extended family. First Lutheran is a great place. Both of my daughters attended the school and went on to graduate from college. They received an excellent education and were raised in a Christian environment. The teachers are caring and qualified. I chose to put my daughters in a private school because I teach for the public school system. First Lutheran has so much more to offer! I would do it again in a heart-beat. read more
