The bar tenders are cool but the person who runs the karaoke on Sundays sucks. she sat there way past 9 pm when it is supposed to start and was just eating food and taking to people. Worst service ever. We came in late on a week night and there were only a few people there. I signaled to the bartender we were ready for our drinks, but she literally shook her head "no" and motioned for me to come to her instead. Okay...fine...whatever...but this continued all night! She refused to serve us unless I came her. Worse than that, she didn't make her other patrons do that. She came to them no problem. She only played this little game with us. I moved here 6 years ago and I have discovered that they haven't changed in 6 years . You can come in to sing us all on karaoke nights and they will disrespect you by letting the same singers repeatedly sing at least three or more songs. I won a costume contest for Halloween here last year, and I thought it was a really cool place to come hang out. I also preform and do open mic and karaoke, but see that proving difficult in this bar due to the heavy, heavy smoke. I like to stop in when I can and stay for a bit. I just find it difficult to settle in here and spend money because I don't enjoy the poor ventilation. I'd love to try their food sometime. read more

Truly surreal, even disturbing and disquieting experience. (To be fair, several of the regulars, pretty awesome people and in the service industry themselves, advised that it must have been an off night for the three bartenders.) Perhaps, but I can only review predicated on my experience. Spent time there 20 years ago, and was in town due to family business and stopped in. Gave my bartender my card, ordered a drink and sat down. No issues. Went to the bar to request a refill. Three bartenders repeatedly looked at me, then proceeded to ignore me as they took orders from the ten customers they obviously knew. Total freeze out before I'd even ordered. Finally a kind patron asked a woman to take my order after I'd been standing there for over 10 minutes. I asked to also be cashed out--she agreed, then went and did shots with her friends and ignored my request. I'm really doing my best to stay objective here, but with the "go to hades" attitude by staff for those they don't know, this was weird as hell. Expressing my consternation led the head bartender to tell me how she didn't appreciate being talked to as I had. ??? I never raised my voice, I never swore in the initial interactions, simply said I needed to be served. The entire interaction was bizarre---low class, trashy, insular, and singularly hostile. Dark place, dark vibe, trashy, small, inbred, tribally hostile small minded trash working overtime to protect their fetid territory. 51 years old, grew up here, love the people and kind culture, but it was sadly totally absent here. Even tried to re-boot saying there was a miscommunication, and the lot lizard bartender doubled down on her invective. Go elsewhere. Anywhere else. Drink in the Bannock County Jail, even. You'll be treated better, by better human beings. Just, sad. read more

This is a great bar if you smoke. Pool tables, decent prices, and occasional live music are all positives. However, in this day and age there is no reason to allow indoor smoking, other than to perhaps have an isolated room that doesn't share air with the rest of the facility. I won't be visiting First Nashty again until the air is cleared and I can return home without smelling like an ash tray. read more

Firt National Bar, or First Nash or the Nash as it is called by Locals, is a very nice place to go to... I think they have the best stage of any of the Bars in Pocatello for Musical enjoyment as far as a Band situation could be concerned, other than the newer(much) club in Old Town. I think also that the Bar Tenders have a good idea of how to enjoy the atmosphere of the Bar scene and First Nash still holds a special place for anyone who has driven all the way down Center street in Pocatello, if not for a great view! read more
