I've never had to use a Water Restoration service before so I browsed trusty Yelp and reached out to Fire & Water Damage. Glad fellow Yelp friend Karen W gave a glowing review! They seem to answer calls 24/7 and I was able to schedule an appointment quickly. Mike was main point of contact and gave us an estimate and scope of work. Basically, they had to tear out the drywall and insulation from the wet area, dry and dehumidify the area for days, and then put on moon suits and remove any mold. We were able to have 2 techs come on a Friday and then let the dehumidifier run over the weekend. We also had to tear out our upper cabinet since the top was damaged by water. On Monday, they came back to remove any leftover mode and patch things up. The total price came in well below the estimate, which is a huge plus. Very happy with the service and efficiency. If you ever suspect you have water damage from leaks, call these guys and get the problem resolved to ensure mold doesn't form or worst, spread. Note that their services are purely restorative - they'll dry out the water-damaged area and get rid of all the mold. You'll need to hire a plumber first to stop the leaks and then afterwards, a drywall contractor to patch up the holes with insulation and new drywall followed by texturing and painting.

Arriving late in the evening they worked for hours on the water remediation job that included pulling off molding/floor boards and setting up fans/dehumidifiers. Despite the scope of the remediation growing, Camilo and Sophia showed their experience by staying calm and just working through the issues. Their professional demeanor and calm made you feel they were taking care of everything and things would turn out ok. The team provides an invaluable service in times of crisis. They sent the project manager Aiden over with a thermal sensor to quickly confirm the issue, and got to the mitigating work. They brought heavy-duty drying equipment (dehumidifiers, blowers) to make sure that the ceiling is dry, coordinated with the plumbing and general contractors to fix the issue completely. Reminder to all: check all the details at BBB, CSLB, and 1-star reviews for genuine red flags before signing or agreeing to anything with any contractor. 1. High-pressure sales. This is water remediation, so it tends to be a "do it now!" situation anyhow, but they push hard. 2. NO estimate provided, even on repeated requests and calls from insurance 3. Terrible communication: voicemail never got through, texts only occasionally responded to, information requested and promised was never delivered. 4. Bad on timing--failed to show to pick up equipment not once but twice. 5. Invoice sent to insurance company was hugely excessive, included services that were not performed, labor hours well beyond those provided on-site, materials that weren't used, and rates well above industry average. Invoice was NOT provided to the owners at all. 6. Billing consisted of presenting a single-value bill (no detailed invoice), with due date and billing date the same. 12 hours later: $35 "late" fee applied to "past due" bill. Every day: additional late fees. Hard to get in touch with billing and they are also just a hired billing firm; impossible to get in touch with project manager or any management at the company.

After communicating through the Yelp Services option, Marco showed up the morning of during the window of time to get a free consultation. Starting in the bathroom, instead of selling us his services, he told us honestly that we could fix it ourselves by purchasing a few items since they have a minimum charge that wasn't worth it for the bathroom fix. He took the time to walk us through how to fix it and why vinegar doesn't solve the root of the problem. He pointed out things from our paint to our bathroom ventilation issues that we should address. For the shed, he truthfully told us the cost of how much it would be for him to fix it versus us doing it ourselves or hiring some people he was training instead. He wasn't afraid to recommend other people instead of himself and I truly appreciated the information he gave us. We told him we wanted it to be a gym and he even gave recommendations on how to prevent moisture problems in the future. Sometimes it's tough with people being salespeople and selling their services (and I get that they need to sell themselves for their business) but I'm grateful to meet people like Marco who I'd definitely recommend to anyone who needed mold remediation services.

When the technician came to my house, he asked me to sign an agreement on his phone and assured me that I would never receive any invoice or bill from them, my insurance company will be fully responible for the cost . Then asking me to read and sign the long writing agreement on his mobile phone? Asking me to read the agreement on a phone and sign? OKAY, I trust them, and it was my fault and I signed it. Today (April 4) I received an invoice stating that payment is due by April 6. They charged $2,500 just to set up two dehumidifiers in my house. They said they would come back and pick them up after 3 days, but they never did. I had to follow up myself and ended up calling them three separate times to ask them to pick up their machines. Every time I called, the customer service rep just said, "I have your concern in our system, and someone will reach out to you." So basically, you end up waiting at least 1-2 days just to get a response back. Because they failed to come back on time and never explained whether I should turn the machines off, I let them run continuously for 6 straight days. This resulted in an additional $350+ electricity bill. The communication and customer service were extremely poor. It feels like all they care about is finding every possible way to charge you. For the payment method, you can pay by credit card but there will be 3.5% processing fee. The other way is to mail a check to them, but they didn't provide the mailing address. It's 2026, I didn't know people still use mail for payment. Be prepared for all these troubles if you want to use their service.

I called DiBlasi Restoration and spoke with Frank DiBlasi, the owner of his independent company. He met me at the house the next day and assessed the situation. Thankfully he was able to send his professional two-man crew the following day. The two men were efficient and clearly competent, perfect for the task at hand. The bedroom issues were easily resolved, but the bathroom is where they really succeeded. Not only was the mold wiped and removed, the surrounding tile grout was scrubbed and shiny like new. A nice touch by these guys. After a weekend of dehumidifying Frank took air samples in each affected room and sent them to an independent lab. All the tests passed with flying colors. I would recommend DiBlasi Restoration in a heartbeat. Frank has been at this for several successful decades and is righteously confident in his methods and protocols. Called DiBlasi Restoration and he was able to visit my home and provide an assessment and a plan for remediation and restoration. If you're dealing with water damage or remediation work, you quickly realize how stressful the situation can be. Frank stood out because he was incredibly knowledgeable and transparent throughout the process. I was so overwhelmed due to the extent of the damage but he took the time to explain what was happening, what needed to be done, and why. He may not be the cheapest option out there (although still reasonable priced!), but you get what you pay for. The level of professionalism, honesty, and expertise he brings is worth it. What I appreciated most is that it genuinely felt like he approached the job as if it were his own home. He was focused on actually fixing the problem the right way, not just doing the minimum or up charging you for unnecessary work. If you're dealing with water damage or remediation issues, I highly recommend at least giving Frank a call and getting a quote. Even just talking with him will give you a much better understanding of what you're dealing with.

Angel was incredibly helpful--he made us feel like we had a friend who would take care of everything. He was very professional and detail-oriented in everything he did. When my wife didn't feel comfortable signing the paperwork, he volunteered to read through the documents and explain them in a way we could understand. He also helped us a lot by meeting with other contractors and walking them through the damage, since my wife wasn't comfortable doing that herself. Angel was excellent at communicating and kept us informed and updated every day. I wouldn't wish water damage on anyone--it's no joke--but if it ever happens to you, I highly recommend asking to work with Angel from 1-800 Water Damage. The…read moremen who did the manual labor to treat our mold and water damage were excellent, hardworking, and professional. All 3 stars is because of y'all My issue is entirely with management. After my insurance company caused complications that led to First Call terminating the job which I understood, I received an invoice in May of last year. I paid that balance in full with two separate checks within two weeks. I have the receipts, the copies of the checks, and the bank statements showing exactly when First Call cashed them. After a full year of zero communication, I woke up today to a voicemail and email threatening to send me to collections within 48 hours. They claimed they had been "trying to reach me" for 12 months, which is untrue. I checked my call logs and my email history; there was absolutely nothing. When I called and provided my proof of payment and the exact dates they cashed my checks, they admitted the "error" was simply because someone forgot to check a box in their system. It is incredibly stressful and offensive to have your credit threatened because a company can't be bothered to check their own bank deposits before sending out threats. As a veteran, I live by a standard of integrity and doing your due diligence. Relying on a "checked box" as the Bible instead of doing actual research is lazy and unprofessional. Do better, not just for your customers, but for the reputation of the guys out there doing the actual work.
