Alvaro is the best! He has years of experience and it shows in the finished product. Our counters…read moreare gorgeous, and the stone is cut, matched up, and put together perfectly. I like that his focus is on fabrication and not on material sales. There is such a huge selection of stone out there I don't know why anyone would want to limit their choices by going with an all in one shop.

Apologies as this review is long overdue. If you are just here wondering if you should use and…read moretrust Luxurious Stone, then 10000% yes. Based on my experience, you will not be disappointed. If you want to hear about the overall experience and level of service, then read on... I started off my search by messaging multiple people/companies about countertop fabrication and installation. Some messaged me back, some gave very minimal responses, some places had high prices, some didn't have time for all of my questions. This is the first time I've done any countertop work and I did a lot of research on many different places and scoured the Hayward/San Leandro area and beyond to look at different countertops, designs, etc. Alvaro always responded to all my messages and emails. Every single time. Sometimes my messages would be weeks apart. When I finally made my decision to go with him, it was well over a month from when I first contacted him. He stuck with me all along the way and that left an impression on me, especially in this type of business. I had a few strange questions about different options and configurations of the counters and he was always responsive with open and honest opinions and information. Once I finally picked out my material, he met me at the shop where I purchased the counter to check out the material and he helped me make sure we were getting a good piece that wasn't too warped. All of this helped reassure me that he approved of my selection and that his trained eye could notice things that I wouldn't be able to notice on my own. He picked up the slab with his truck and took it off to fabricate and cut. He showed up a few days later for the install and it was done in no time. Oh, I forgot to mention that he stopped by and did a consultation and looked everything over and provided a ton of really helpful advice and analysis of the job, how he would suggest doing it, what he wouldn't suggest etc. He also brought some samples with him for me to check out and offered a great price on countertops that he already had on hand. The entire experience is everything that you would hope for in a countertop install. I will recommend him to anyone that need any countertop work. The pricing was some of the best I could find, the work was high quality (still looking great and holding up 7 months in) and Alvaro was a pleasure to work with. Thank you very much for everything!

My biggest frustration is being limited to only 5 stars…read more 3 months ago we started a 3 week project to build a new mantle for our fireplace and bookcases to flank that taking up the entire wall in our living room. We had selected another contractor to do the work and made some concessions around how the tile was going to be done, but thought it would be handled well and we'd be pleased with the result. Once the tile was completed, there were so many gaffes and mistakes - including the top not being level, which would be highly problematic and even more noticeable as there is to be a large, sliding panel above the fireplace. As soon as we realized we had a problem, I called another contractor to get their opinion (was I being too picky??) who agreed there were a ton of issues with the quality of work. (scratched tile, chipped tile, cracked tile, bent schluter edging, uneven/un-level tiles, inconsistent grout lines, paint on the tile ...), He immediately connected me to Van and Paul, who also came to take a look - agreeing that the finished work was not good. We agreed to a price for demo and re-do, and told the original guy I would eat the cost of that as they'd be finishing the edges differently (which was the look we wanted to begin with). Apparently his feelings were too hurt though, and he walked off the job entirely and wouldn't even finish the cabinet work which is his true wheelhouse. I told Paul I just wanted to pause the whole thing right now as things were such a mess and there was clearly not a rush. He said he'd let Van know what happened and they'd get back to me. I never expected to hear from them on this - I mean, my cabinetmaker walking off the job was hardly their problem other than it might delay the tile work as I sorted things out. But, true to form, they followed through and Van has since connected me with another cabinetmaker. While they were here regarding that, he said he could send over two of his best guys the next day (the day before Thanksgiving) to finish the demo and do the tile work- which they accomplished in ONE day. There were numerous issues outside of the finish work that they found and corrected - the tile we'd selected is 'large format' (24"x48" sheets) - yet the other guy used 'buttons' of thinset to mount the tile. (apparently that's a no-no). The bigger issue was that he'd also left a significant gap between the firebox and the new mantle - a massive fire hazard. Clearly we dodged a huge bullet and while a hassle, are actually grateful he did such a lousy job so that the bigger issues could be fixed. Van is amazing to work with - thoughtful, considerate, patient and great attention to detail. His team (Paul, Carlos and Dixon) have also been incredible as well - responsive, polite, going way above and beyond as they bent over backwards to fix a situation they did not create and calm the nerves of someone (Me!) who was pretty upset in how things were left, and ultimately handled by the former contractor. Not only is their work FLAWLESS, but they did more in one day than the other guy did badly in 3 weeks. It's a pleasure working with a company that has such high work standards, fair pricing, and INTEGRITY. I can't wait to use them for the next project and cannot recommend them more highly. Thanks, guys, for EVERYTHING!

We are the owners and designers of a nearly 4,000 square foot high-end home in Marin County for…read morewhich we recently completed new construction. We hired a general contractor and agreed to use all of their selected subcontractors except for a small subset we insisted on selecting ourselves, including Custom Stone. Custom Stone came highly recommended by multiple stone suppliers and other fabricators in the Bay Area. The scope of our stone installation was large and it was critically important that we select a fabricator who had experience with higher-end homes and highest-quality installations. Our scope included a master bathroom consisting of a double vanity, an 8' tall all-slab master shower and an undermounted roman master bathtub; a large kitchen with multiple stone surfaces including a 12' x 9' island; two guest bathrooms with marble slab vanities; a guest bathroom all-slab shower; an all-slab marble surround and hearth for a 42" fireplace; a custom designed and constructed semi-precious slab backlit bar; and an outdoor BBQ counter with Neolith. At the outset of the project, Custom Stone joined us during trips to various stone yards, advised us on the considerations of different materials, and helped us to obtain the most competitive pricing with their relationships. During the fabrication process, Custom Stone sent us multiple detailed design mock-ups and welcomed us to participate in the process. They recently invested in state-of-the-art fabrication equipment and technology that enables Contractors and Owners to see exactly what output they can expect, and to efficiently and flexibly provide input into the design and configuration decisions. For example, their new 3-D Laser measuring system and real-time digital vein-matching software allowed us to approve our slab layout before the fabrication started. Custom Stone's CNC waterjet cutting machine enabled exceptionally precise cuts on the material that we didn't find possible with other fabrication firms, allowing Custom Stone to produce the highest-quality end products for our project. Custom Stone's work is uncontestably one of the highlights of the new home and has significantly enhanced its aesthetic and value. We cannot speak highly enough of their work and the process of working with them. They worked and collaborated well with other trades/subcontractors, offered up creative solutions and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to quality. When we were selecting our stone subcontractor, we considered five (5) criteria in the following stack-ranked order: (1) precision in design and craftsmanship, and attention to detail; (2) knowledge of products/materials; (3) design skill in assembling pieces to create contiguous and less visible seams; (4) use of current technology and tools; and (5) reliable and on schedule. Custom Stone achieved the highest marks across all five criteria. We would certainly recommend and hire them again for whatever scope project we consider in the future.
