This company is a scam They will cut corners, they will cheat you. They don't even put state-regulated items in your house. Then they file lean against your house for work. Wished we would not have hired them in June 2013 for our house fire. They took every advantage of our nightmare for their own profit. Construction was not completed when they broke contract. Would never recommend them to anyone else. If I could have left 0 stars, I would have. I have decided to make this blog public. It chronicles our daily struggles with our local restoration company, First Response, who did the cleaning(house and personal items), tear down and reconstruction from the house fire in June 20th 2013. Probably the most unethical business ever. Not even sure who called this company, but they showed up to repair a door and charged 188.00 to "Secure" the door. Left a two inch opening and then demanded to be paid. Before insurance could be located, this company placed a mechanics lien on the property. Bottom feeders! Beware of this company!!! read more

1. I was not referred by anyone. I called your company and asked for an estimate. That began the long trial I endured. 2. My homeowners insurance company did not refuse to renew my policy. 3. I notified Chris M. that I had asthma and other health issues during the estimate. He kept insisting to me that the entire scope of work listed on the estimate had to be done due to my health issues, even after I later asked if some could be omitted so the work could begin. 4. I never sabotaged the work at my home. Why would I when it caused more work and cost for me? 5. I was informed many times I wasn't telling the truth, etc. I never received an apology, even after a cord to a piece of equipment was found at your facility and returned to me, after Cindy insisted that it had been returned and I wasn't telling the truth/I was lying. 6. Yes, I signed a "satisfactory" form when the trucks came with my belongings. Before they unloaded the first item, I was handed the form and told that nothing would be unloaded without my signature on the form. After waiting nearly a year, I signed the form. Did I want more delay? No. It wasn't until after I unpacked all the boxes that I realized that many items were missing. 7. The fact that I sold my home and now live in Georgia, where I don't have to shovel snow and endure frigid temperatures, has nothing to do with my review. This place is a joke. My daughters house burned down and they came in with a 6-9 month deadline. 5 months later only demo had been done. She got no paperwork to sign on any change orders, how much money she was using, what they were charging, the contractor came in and didnt even have anything to write down what she wanted done on her change notice. He said she would have it in 10 days , 9 months later when she finally fired them because her house was still down to the studs she still didnt have one. She did have a $55, 000 bill with things on it that were never done to the house. Paint and plaster, closet doors! There werent even any walls! 3 Fourty yard dumpsters when they only used 2! That's a scam in itself! Luckily the field adjuster caught all that but made sure to pay them for other things he saw that they didn't bill for! She also finally got a estimate change with the new scope of work and about 100 items she specifically told the contractor she didn't want done, then some ridiculous catch $290 to deodorize one large closet and $1800 to do the exact same thing to another smaller one! What!? I am now 4 months later fighting with my insurance company Allstate, and lets not get started on them to get the money to get my new contractor started due to the roof failing inspection and my new contractor wanting to do the job correctly. First Response is in Allstates "Good Hands" network of contractors, so we all know they are working for Allstate and not the customer. Poor workmanship, poor communication, poor timeframe, extremely poor customer service, even when I spoke to the CEO of the company about my issues, he treated me like I was the one at fault for letting them go after 9 months of lies and ignored texts, and a house I lived in for four days and has been sitting for a year now. What a hot mess! Unless you have suffered a "DISASTER" do not call them! We had a stain in our family room ceiling. I called my insurance company for advice. They suggested First Response. First Response came out right away. They came out cut a hole in the ceiling. Found a small leak. They put my bucket under it and brought in a dehumidifier for 3 days. They sent an email bill immediately. The bill was over $1,000. I was expecting to pay closer to $600. (still expensive mind you). I have gotten 3 emails and 4 phone calls looking for payment in full. It has not even been 30 days? I am still talking to my insurance company!! I hope this helps someone avoid my mistake. read more

First, I wish to distinguish between the actual repair work completed by the First Response employees and my experience dealing with the company itself. They demanded payment up front, they did not explain how they calculated replacement costs, leaving me with no ability to know if I was staying within the budget. On 2 occasions, when I was not present, they left my house, leaving the garage door up, leaving the doors to inside the house unlocked, and in once case standing open. I could have been robbed blind. The damage to my house occured during the polar vortex, i.e. the dead of winter. The work was not completed until May 29, leaving me unable to use my laundry room and my family room next to it, which had also incurred damage from the frozen and burst pipe. They did not tell me when several items not included in the insurance adjusters repair list were damaged on removal, leaving me responsible for replacing them out of my own pocket. When I complained, their standard response was always that I could find my own contractor. They had been supplied as part of the Contractor Connections through my home owners insurance. I am 64 years old, female, live by myself, and getting treatment for metastatic breast cancer, which they were informed of upfront. What about that description of me suggests I would be remotely capable of finding my own people to do the repair work. My insurance agent intervened a number of times on my behalf. The bottom line is that while I am satisfied with the finished product, I would NEVER recommend or use this company again due to the management issues I had with them. I regard them as little more than "ambulance chasers". Quite honestly, if I could give them a rating of zero I would, but I am forced to give them something, so it will be the lowest possible rating.
