What a terrible experience. I bought a house in Brick in 2020 and the previous owner used First Round for the property so I figured I would keep them since I dont know any other companies in the area. I called them for the start of Spring 2021. I wanted to get the property touched up last year (mulch, weeds, tree trimming, etc) and got a quote for $2400. Mike, the owner, said he would get me in before Memorial Day. That never happened. He didnt get back to me until after July 4th to see if I still wanted to get the work done. Also last summer, one of the workers crashed into my fence and broke one of the hinges on the door. When I asked him what happened he tried to pretend that the door was already broken. I knew he was lying so I spoke with the supervisor and they replaced the hinge. This happened at the end of the season and I forgot about wanting to change service. Fast forward to 2022 and he texted me to renew service. I decided to restart service since I hadnt reached out to any other landscapers. What a mistake. I asked him for a quote on the cleanup he had quoted me $2400 for in 2021and he said it would be $4000. I know there is inflation but that's ridiculous. The last straw just happened today. I handed his employee a check for April about to weeks ago and was surprised when I saw my latest invoice showing a past due balance. I spoke with Mike who spoke with the supervisor for that day who indeed remembered me giving him the check. The supervisor just lost the check. Instead of apologizing, Mike started to blame me for not mailing the check to him. Mind you I have only paid for the previous year and a half by handing his employee the checks when they were here. The call ended with Mike cursing at me and hanging up. I text him back that I was cancelling the service to which he replied, and I quote, "seems like your in over your head over there anyway" and "you've been a condescending winey bitch since I met you byeeee". I normally dont have the time to fill these reviews out but I definitely wanted to share this so anyone else looking for service can steer clear. read more

I hired this company to service a property rental. When I originally hired this company and had requested they begin ASAP there was a delay and I excused it. The service continued which should of been maintenance and cutting and weeding, twice I was hit with 2 large invoices for additional services. I am sure they do a decent job, but Mike the owner is rude and I have the messages and threats to prove it. I am sure they do a decent job, just don't interact with the Mike trust me you will regret it! read more

I don't write bad reviews, I understand someone's business is their livelihood. But this experience was AWFUL. job well done? yes. service and transparency between company and client? non-existent. I have read about 4 other reviews on here that have completely matched my experience with the owner of this company. His responses to these yelp reviews is the best indication of what you will be dealing with. He is rude, childish, unprofessional, and overall SHADY with his pricing. After spending an exceptional amount of money this season with him - he sent the cops to our house to chase us down for $137. And continued to send condescending text messages afterwards. Sneaks in "late fees". your late fee is the same price as one grass cut/week. Never in my life have I seen anything like it. Plenty of my neighbors have let him go. I requested an estimate for the replacement of 1200 square feet of sod after a drunk driver destroyed my property. We called First Round Landscaping because they seemed to have a good reputation in town. The owner came out and seemed short and annoyed at doing an estimate, which was only verbal at this point. When we called him back for a written estimate for our insurance company he stated he is 'not interested, your job is too small,"so my boyfriend politely asked him, "why didn't you say that from the onset?" "We would have called other people and saved time?" The owner Michael's reply was....."I don't give a F**K!" and he hung up on us! Very unprofessional and a disgrace. I hired First Round to do a spring clean up and also fill in a small dip in my yard with topsoil. for some reason, Mike, the owner, thought it would be a good day to do this on a day that had light rain all day. I was accessible all day by phone but never received a call. I came home and saw that they put down 3 tons of topsoil in 5 large ares. NEVER AUTHORIZED THIS. they also left the back 1/3 of yard with dead pine needles. Of course these do not come up easily when wet. When I questioned Mike about this, he got very angry and yelled at me that I was making a big issue of it and should just deal with it. He also called me a LIAR. I would not recommend a company that takes it upon himself to charge for services not requested and who cannot accept blame for his mistake or apologize for his error. also over priced read more

Just got fall cleanup! With how badly my yard needed some love, I probably would have been impressed with a lot less. The job done was above and beyond. So sharp! Every time I drive by my house I am thrilled with how great it looks. And also thrilled that this massive item was knocked off my to do list after a couple of hours and a reasonable fee. Terrible company! I wouldn't use them. We've used them in the past for lawn cutting and they were ok. This summer we hired them again for lawn cutting and then my husband got a quote for end of season thatching, fertilizing, Lyme, etc. they quoted him $380 plus tax and when we got the bill the final price was $442. My husband called the owner "Mike" and had a heated phone call about the quote and change in price, and in the end "Mike" told my husband "he was only $30 off the original price and he is getting bigger and doesn't need us smaller customers anymore". My husband told him that he too estimates for a living for a sheet metal company and when he quotes a price, he STANDS by his quote! Basically Mike is saying we are chump change to him! If you don't want to handle us smaller customers then don't agree to take our services. To me this is a shitty way to run a business. Needless to say, we WILL NOT be recommending him or his company to anyone! read more
