By the following day I received the written inspection results from Kuhlmann and each member of his team. The results were in exacting detail, which allowed me to ask the seller to address very specific issues. I might also mention that Kuhlmann was very flexible when the seller, at the last minute, canceled the inspection. It had to be rescheduled for the next day. Despite claims on his website, he never filed the required permit for the plumbing work and used unlicensed plumbers on my home. When I asked for subcontractor names, license numbers, or proof of insurance, he delayed providing any documentation. I finally got the COI. FUNNY the policy start date was the date after I asked for it. I paid a $12,500 deposit. Work done: Demolition/prep, unpermitted/unlicensed plumbing (which I had to fix), unfinished cabinets, and cans of paint (nothing painted). Certainly not $12500 worth of work. Deadlines were pushed from the promised 2 weeks to a month, bait and switch. The lack of permits, the use of unlicensed trades, the refusal to disclose subcontractor or insurance details, and his increased hostility forced me to terminate him. I tried arbitration via BBB and he has refused to respond. He took off with my large deposit and left me with a torn‑apart kitchen. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this contractor. I should have paid more attention to the red flags. After asking for a general quote via BBB, he unexpectedly showed up at my house, UNINVITED. Predatory behavior, Red Flag 1. Despite multiple delays and broken promises, I was assured that additional services (exterior painting and fence staining) would be provided at no charge due to the delays. However, none of the work was finished, and I still have not been refunded. Even though Yahir showed me he had $83,000 in his bank account, he is unable or unwilling to pay me back. I've had enough and am posting again to warn others about his lack of professionalism and unfulfilled promises. After numerous failed attempts to resolve this, I filed a small claims case, and the sheriff in Victoria has already served him the papers. On Tuesday, I reached out to him one last time asking for my money back, but as usual, he gave me the runaround and ignored my request. The installers worked very hard to get the job done but towards the end they hurried and did not do a great job on the last room and left all of our walls filthy to the point we almost needed to repaint, but I didn't complain. I was disappointed that Alex did not arrange for matching threshold materials and so I called after the installation to see if we could arrange that. I called 4 or 5 times and sent an email, but they never responded. So we gave up and are stuck with the cheap metal threshold that was used. Here we are a year later and we are having problems with the installation in our kitchen. Planks are separating and planing in a high traffic area because the subfloor was not properly prepared. It needs to be fixed soon. Because of our previous experience with them not returning calls, we dropped in and Alexis told us she would have Alex give us a call the next day. He didn't call. We called back 3 more times on subsequent days and each time were told that Alex would call us. He never did. So, the bottom line is that these people are happy to take your money, but you better hope everything gets done right the first time because they do NOT stand behind their work and will simply NEVER call you back if you have problems.
