I hired First Star Exteriors in September 2020 to install a new roof and fix attic ventilation problems noted in my inspection report. Their solution was to add two turbines to prevent heat buildup and future damage. In late 2024, I discovered a leak in my kitchen ceiling. First Star immediately blamed my solar panels, but my solar company confirmed the leak was nowhere near their system. Soon after, another leak appeared in my living room ceiling where no panels exist. An independent roofer later confirmed that the attic ventilation was not properly addressed, the roof decking is compromised, and there are now five separate leaks. The results have been devastating: costly mold remediation, multiple ceiling repairs, and two years of mold-related health issues. This is exactly what I paid First Star to prevent. To make matters worse, I've called and emailed repeatedly--including to the Director of Operations and the owner--for over six weeks without a single response. Their salesperson, Jaxson, was fabulous - 5 stars. He was responsive, patient, and a good communicator. Their install crew was solid - 4 stars. They worked hard, got the job done, and addressed minor issues as they came up. However this company's downfall is their production/scheduling coordinator - 2, maybe 3 stars. Terrible (no) communication, scheduled workers without coordinating with the home owner, and unapologetic about errors made (I could go on and on...). It took nearly 5 months to complete our project! The process was simple, they were very professional and quick, and he was very responsive to text/call. We have a leak in our roof. Let me just say First Star was amazing! The service at First Star Exteriors was incredible! They had someone here with in hours after reaching out. They came out to inspect the problem, found that one of the pipes on the roof is damaged and causing the problem. Since we were expecting more rain, they came back that same afternoon to temporarily seal the area until we can permanently fix it. Kristin and Jarred were outstanding to talk with and explained everything! You don't find customer service like this anymore, it was so refreshing! If you need any work done please give them a call! I wasn't able to hire this company, but this was the BEST bid I have ever gotten in a long history of property management, in a couple other states. Unlike most of the bids I've gotten the last 2-3 months on a fixer upper, he returned my phone call, made an appointment AND actually came on time. He not only got up on the roof to get an exact inspection, but went out of his way, to help me up the ladder so I could see for myself.
