I've been with Sunbelt for most of my life. My mom opened my first account for me when I was a kid,…read moreand I'm nearly 40 now. I'm not a new customer. For years, I had no complaints. I used to stop in every Friday to deposit my check, and the tellers were friendly and pleasant. That changed somewhere along the way, and Sunbelt has become increasingly exhausting to deal with. In 2020, I refinanced my car with them, which turned out to be a mistake. In 2023, I moved out of state for work and had to switch insurance policies. The insurance company accidentally sent my proof of insurance to the wrong bank. I didn't know there was an issue until my debit card was declined at a restaurant. No warning. No phone call. No email. Just a locked account. When I called, I was told my account had been frozen because I didn't have car insurance. I knew good and well that I did. The insurance company corrected their mistake immediately and faxed and emailed the documentation within the hour. I called Sunbelt two to three times a day for over a week. Every time, I was told they hadn't received the paperwork. The insurance company resent it multiple times. There was no urgency and no sense that anyone cared that I was in another state without access to my own money. Eventually, without explanation, my card just started working again. I found out when an automatic payment finally processed. During that time, a scheduled credit card payment to Chase was declined because my account was locked. As a result, Chase flagged Sunbelt, and I can no longer use that account to make payments. As if that weren't enough, one of their representatives called me in the middle of all this to ask if I needed a loan. The irony was unbelievable. More recently, I called to update my address after moving to a new home. The first representative I spoke with sounded as though he was under the influence and struggled to form coherent sentences. I had to spell my street name multiple times, and it was still entered incorrectly in the confirmation email. It took two additional calls to reach someone who was alert enough to understand the alphabet. Maybe Sunbelt should require new hires to watch Sesame Street as part of their onboarding process. Even after completing the electronic signature process to confirm the new address, they are still sending my mail to the old one. At this point, I hesitate to call back about it. Communication has been so consistently frustrating that expectations are low, and I feel like I'd have better luck talking to a cucumber. Add to that the frequent card locks for normal purchases, including once at Kroger due to "too much fraud", and it feels like I need to call and ask for permission to use my own money. I'll be moving my accounts to a local bank soon, which is something I should have done years ago. I would strongly caution anyone considering Sunbelt to think carefully before doing business with them. And whatever you do, certainly don't use them for a loan of any kind. *edited to include that I'm not located in San Francisco, and I did business with the Laurel, MS locations*

Upon leaving I see the branch manager Robin and say hello, she returned the greeting and I told her I would be leaving Sunbelt soon, she responded by saying she didn't want to argue. I told her I wasn't arguing just making a statement and thought she'd be happy I was leaving, she has always been abrasive, but it's gotten worse. Negative behavior is throughout this credit union, and is getting worse This is why I'm leaving and promote others to do the same. Most everyone I talk with about Sunbelt FCU have already heard how bad it is, very sad. I hope they can get things turned around, but there is a LOT of work to do. I don't know why this site places me out of state, I live in Laurel MS.

And if this is normal interactions between bank managers or anyone in the bank and customers then i will no longer be a client at this bank and as a bank manager you shouldn't want any client to be treated this way let alone any of your family members either . She was very rude and this is not great customer service. I'm very upset with how I was treated today . I've been with this bank for quite sometime and seen her treat others differently from me wayyyy better then me she didn't even offer to let me take a seat in her office I had my child with me a one year old and I took a seat she looked at me like I was crazy also complimented her on her Christmas decorations , " I stated I love your Christmas globes"! She looked at me and said, WHAT didn't even say thank you . I was never rude or came at her rude she was rude from the time I stepped in front of her office door she looked at me as if she didn't wanna be bothered.
