I have had excellent care from First Urology for over 25 years now and I still have the same Urologist. My Doctor is very caring, compassionate and always on the cutting edge of new treatments. I only wish they did primary care also....I'd love to be treated as nice as I am at 1st Urology. read more

Horrible practice and Dr Rosenbaum is an awful doctor. I simply asked for the results of my CT scan (I had a history of kidney stones). Dr Rosenbaum was so angry that I didn't want to be scoped before hearing the results of my CT scan. He kept asking me questions about my personality rather than my symptom. I still have the same symptoms two years later. Thanks for nothing. read more

If you want care, you're better off going down the street to a local Mc Donald's! They don't do that at First Urology. If you want preventative care, they also, don't do that here. I've been going here, unfortunately, for probably about 25 years on and off! Over these, never ending stones. I've seen a few different urologists here and one of them sent me me twice and I was septic and ended up in the hospital. They did the same to my mother. I thought I was in luck when about 10 or so years ago I found a new one here. I've lost hope. I'm still have stones and still am going through a lot of the lithotripsy procedures and had my last one January 14th. Thank God, that a few of my clients are doctors and have helped informed on what was going on with my mini CT scans, x-rays, and ultrasounds because I never hear back about those. My past primary care doctor was the one prescribing me the pain medicine for the most part. I've had an issue twice trying to get my pain medicine from this urologist. The doctors that I work for understand that we have nerves throughout our kidneys which leads to pain especially when I have a whole bunch of stones in both kidneys, plus not to mention the 9000 times I've been hit in my kidneys over the past 5 months. I just bought a house out here in Shelbyville and decided to switch doctors, so I took it upon myself to ask my urologist for a refill on painkillers. He denied me. I'm really surprised. Oh well! I guess these people like to see their patients suffering. That I will not do. So, if you're on Medicaid or Medicare do not rely on care from this facility because this is definitely not what they do here. I wish they would just get rid of this painful problem, but he just does not care. At least I'm still alive, dealing, everyday, with these stones. I can't remember the last time I didn't have ANY!! I was told by a Doctor there they did not do ProState Exam's anymore and When I Googled it is Say's that they still do! So did that Doctor not want to get his White Coat Dirty or What? And you are on hold with them for a Very long time and They say you can stay in Cue But they will not call you back until the next Day or Two! read more

Mediocre care, abusive staff and had to file a complaint with the Indiana Medical board for further investigation into the conduct of the doctors and nursing staff. Will never be back here again. My complaint is to where the chips may fall. I was scheduled for a surgery procedure January 13, 2025 and on January 8, 2025 was contacted by the Louisville Surgery Center for medical history, 3 days before my surgery. They want cardiac clearance from my cardio Doctor 3 fricking days before the surgery. According to Louisville Surgery Center I wasn't put on the schedule till January 8, 2025. First urology said I was supposed to be on the schedule December 2?, 2024. I don't know who is responsible so I am blaming both for the screw up. Finger pointing between them doesn't help my situation. There is no accountability because First Urology should confirm that I am on the schedule at Louisville Surgery Center since that is where THEIR DOCTORS DO THE SURGERY. Louisville Surgery Center is owned by the doctors of First Urology so hand wringing doesn't fly with me. One hand doesn't know or care what the other hand is doing. One star s too much but is the least I can give them and that goes for Louisville Surgery Center as well. David M. read more

The doctor checked me, then tell me that he couldn't find nothing then reschedule appointment in six months later came back and then he didn't even check me and tell me to come back another six months I was painful for six months didn't know what to do after two years trying to figure it out what's going on with me so I went to a different doctor because this place they just want your money they don't care about you read more

I know reviewing a healthcare facility maybe bizarre, but I guess they deserve the credit. I have been with First Urology for 4 years now and I have always had a decent experience. I like to consider myself a healthy person, but my only big problem at the moment is that I am prone to kidney stones. I am 23 and have been with First Urology for 4 years so yes, I was a 19 year old dealing with kidney stones.... I'm aware that "19 is considered young to have kidney stones", but what can you do? Every doctor and nurse that I have encountered have gone far and beyond for me. They are always friendly when I talk to them. It is extremely easy to get an appointment or reschedule if something happens. They have many locations so they try to work with you based on where you live. Dr. Goodwin is the specialist I see when I have an appointment. He knows what he is talking about so you never have to worry when he talks to you. I have met with another doctor and nurse practitioner before and they are also good at what they do. **FUN FACT** Sprite helps prevent kidney stones, yes my doctor said that so I'm not making this up. I'm not sure why First Urology has some bad reviews, because they have been wonderful. I know it's out of the ordinary to review healthcare facilities, but everyone deserves to know when they are doing a good job. read more

I was referred to this location after my initial visit to their downtown Louisville location. It is difficult to find so ask for directions. The hospitals and offices all have one address and they aren't in one area. It blows my mind. The office is big. There is a large waiting room with plenty of seating, 2 gender neutral restrooms, and several people to check you in. I was promptly greeted, checked in, and walked back to imaging. I didn't have to wait long before I had my x-ray taken. I waited maybe 10 minutes. Once that once done I waited in the waiting room again. My appointment with the doctor was scheduled an hour later but the went ahead and got me back early. I waited 15 minutes in the waiting room and they got me back to an exam room. I did have a bit of a wait in the exam room but it wasn't too bad. It was maybe 20-30 minutes and I was still seen earlier than my appointment time, which I appreciated! The doctor was thorough in his explanations and answered my questions. He was also kind and didn't seem bothered to show me my x-ray either. The only reason for my 4 stars is the address and not being able to find it. How in the world does such a wide area have 1 address? I have no idea. The office is beautiful and the staff and doctor are great! read more

My family doctor was concerned enough by my ever increasing PSA numbers to send me here for a follow up on my prostate. My doctor recommended Dr. Rosenbaum and Dr. Rosenbaum found that I had a growth. He later did a biopsy which confirmed my cancer. So far I've liked the treatment from staff and the fact that Dr. Rosenbaum is most informative-helpful and what I call a straight shooter. That's what I want and need. His advice was to have me meet with multiple specialists about different possible treatment options for my issue and then he will meet with me again for a review of those options. I feel like I'm in good hands and if this review needs an update then I will provide that information. read more

It is a shame they basically have a monopoly for the specialty care they "provide." I have had the misfortune of dealing with them for months trying to get some levels right. After an extra labs draw to be sure and two urine samples that didn't need to be taken (or billed to insurance), I am told that the sleep study machines are down. I called them after a month and the human that answered the phone acted like she didn't even work there or know what was going on. I finally received a machine and am writing this review after ripping the thing off because...surprise, it doesn't work. A true twilight zone experience. Had an initial appointment, got rescheduled because the doctor left early; no explanation. Second visit, another absent doctor; this one was understandable as they said he has to leave for an "emergency". Get rescheduled again and on my third visit, the ladies up front look at me like an inconvenience, stating that "there were no more appointments today" and said my appointment was automatically rescheduled for a week later. Fine, sure. Surely the 4th visit there I will have no troubles and see the doctor I've now been waiting over a month to see. I get there and they look at me crazy AGAIN stating "it looks like you cancelled your appointment for today". Yeah, I canceled my own appointment I've been waiting a month for, totally! After some back and forth, they say they can squeeze me in to see the doc. Great! Go back for my visit, doctor is VERY brief, doesn't thoroughly answer my questions, and only gave me 5 minutes of his time (then proceeds to make strong prescription for me) Oh, and it was sent to the wrong pharmacy too! Then storms off without saying anything. WHAT A JOKE OF A PRACTICE. Do not waste your time or sanity with this place. VERY unprofessional and not a pleasant experience. read more

I've been going to First Urology - downtown location - for 3 or 4 years now. My experiences have always been positive. I've never had an appointment start more than 5 or 10 minutes late. Whether I'm visiting the lab, a nurse practitioner, or my doctor, I'm in and out in a reasonable timeframe with all my questions answered. Good place. read more

I think whenever anyone writes a bad review over the length of time a doctor takes to see a patient needs to get their head examined. Does anyone think for a second that doctors just hang out around the office having a party or goofing off at the expense of your precious time? Get over yourselves! These people have lives they want to get back to as well, and well, people who go to the doctor sometimes are having a real bad day and need more time than what was allotted. Enough of my rant on the ignorance and impatience of people today, let me tell you about my experience here. I just had a procedure here done. I had a 4:00 appointment, got there 10 minutes early, was sitting in doctors room by 3:55, had my procedure and checked out by 4:20. The staff here was excellent, and yeah they had a few laughs while I was there (I much prefer that to the assistants who act like you are a bother for them) and my doctor (Malone) did a terrific job with my procedure. I can't say enough good things about this practice. Last year i had a kidney stone and came in for a follow up. I came in, spoke with the nurse, went to the back to get some xrays done, saw the doc about 15 minutes later, took labs and got a prescription. Was there about an hour, actually took care of it on a lunch break. read more

I do not even want to give them a one. I'm sure they don't care because they have a monopoly in Louisville. You know when I'm having to demand a blood test things are bad. They not only let my friends creatinine and potassium levels get dangerously high because of their neglect, they also sent him home from the hospital before knowing the stents they placed in his ureters were secure. So 4 days later he is back in the hospital. That's just the beginning. Go to Lexington .... I would never recommend this bureaucracy they call a doctors practice. read more

Do not trust this business when they tell you they will contact your insurance company to determine whether or not you will be covered. Make sure you check with your insurance company on your own(I know, stupid me,lesson learned). I was stuck with a bill over 800 dollars after they told me I was covered for the full amount. On a side note, the doctor began the procedure before I was completely numb and the pain I felt was overwhelming. The doctor stopped after I made a noise that sounded like a muffled scream and waited longer before continuing. Everything after that went fine. read more

Found blood on my pillow for my first biopsy. They require that you make a follow up appointment just get routine results. They performed a biopsy using a procedure not approved by very good insurance. I have been a patient there for several years, with skepticism. After charging me for an unapproved procedure added to a routine process, costing me hundreds of dollars, I just won't go back. Dr. Pecha is a decent fellow but I still can't recommend this place. read more

Hideous Doctor who didn't listen to me. I told them I had high blood pressure and inappropriate sinus tachycardia, and they gave me medication that worsened my condition and could have killed me. When I called back to get something different they told me I needed to come back in. The doctor should have listened to me in the first place, I shouldn't have to pay another specialist bill because they didn't pay attention to my health conditions in the first place. I won't be paying my first bill when it comes, they can eat it. Don't go to this place, they could kill you because they don't pay attention to your conditions when prescribing to you. Bureaucratic nightmare. Regardless of physician care, admin bureaucracy cancels out the positives. Staff will not forward messages left for docs, calls regarding scheduling not returned, etc. It's pathetic that a specialty practice operates like this. Never experienced this kind of disregard for patients with any other medical specialty, and it's not likely to improve since it's the only game in town. If you are dealing with a difficult diagnosis, look out-of-town for something better. read more

The service and wait time for my office visit and two test/procedures were fine and the staff was very nice. However, the out of pocket expenses were very high and even after signing a 90 day note and making large payments within 30 days of receiving my bills I was "courtesy" called everyday, sometimes twice a day within a month. Mind you, I was not late even with the 90 day promissory note. I would call the office and they would apologize and two days later the calls would start again. I'd answer at work and the caller would hang up. I'd call the number back and would be told it was a courtesy call. This had been almost two months. My symptoms are still undiagnosed and now I feel I'm being harassed for the sky high out of pocket portion. I think next time my doctor suggests First Urology I will decline. read more

My first visit with First Urology was different from any other experience I had with previous doctors. The doctor came in and shook my hand and proceeded to give me results from tests I had never had done. When I told him that I hadn't taken any tests he looked at me like "I" was crazy and told me I had to have the test or he couldn't treat me. I changed doctors. I was billed for this visit $204.00. When I complained that I shouldn't have to pay for bad service, I was told they would look into it. Nothing happened. Two months later after seeing a different doctor, I received a bill for $81.53. The initial bill from the first doctor was still there, and the co-payment for $100.00 was not! I called and complained again and was told they would look into it but it could take 2 weeks or longer! read more

My experience was the same as others: "Staff is NOT professional, continually carrying on loud personal conversations with hysterical laughter while their waiting room full of weary patients looks on. While there, I heard patients complain of long waits, not being scheduled for the correct service, and any questions they had about about hospital affiliation and insurance coverage were met with blank stares and giggles". - I sat there for over an hour with no doctor coming in to see me while I sat there and listened to the staff talk about and make fun of other patients. I never did get to see the doctor. THAT'S TWICE this has happened while trying to see the same doctor (Dr. Medley). This happened to me at both the Jeffersonville office and at the New Albany office. What is up with his staff ?? I am FORCED to find another doctor now. SMH !! read more
