Disgusting food. I will never come back here again. I wanted the eggs Benedict but after looking at pictures here it looked way too watery. I got the oatmeal and English muffin both taste like cardboard. The fruit is not sweet either. This place is a wanna be healthy, hippy place. I have to say I think three stars for the food is quite generous, at least for the Parma Hash. The rest of our table shared a similar sentiment that their food was just lacking in flavor and seasoning, even basic salt and pepper. Two orders of the Parma Hash, a Chili Chorizo, turkey gravy and biscuits, and a Belgian waffle. Even the coffee is lacking in flavor. The Belgian waffle was the standout dish. The front of house staff definitely make up for the back of house lack of taste. Our server was great and came by to fill drinks frequently. They advertise fresh ingredients, and I'm not doubting that, but I think they stopped short of seasoning. Overall we wouldn't come back which is an unfortunate outcome given our high expectations. read more

They have great options and there's always a ton of people here at our location but service is always great and quick. I love their tomato basil soup and always have to get a cup when I go in. The chickichanga is soooooo yummy although like a million calories so I've tried other things over the years lol. I'm not a fan of their eggs benny. Sandwiches are good. Potatoes are just ok and this is coming from someone who loves potatoes. You really can't go wrong here. Found this place on yelp. And so glad we did. I had called to try and make reservations as I saw online it closes at 2:30. It's a first come first serve type of place. Put our name in and waited about 25 mins to be seated. Which I don't mind. There were plenty of people outside waiting as well. The food was so so good. Wow! I cannot wait to come back! Our road trip took us through Charleston, WV and we ended up at First Watch. The menu was full of everything and anything I would ever want to try! I had the Alaskan Salmon Frittata and my girlfriend had the Biscuits and Gravy then we got one Banana Granola Crunch Pancake. Everything was absolutely amazing. I turned to my girlfriend and said "I could stand up and give this place a standing ovation" as I said that the owner, Terry came by and talked with us. Wow! I'm from Cali and am used to getting fresh, light, and flavorful food and I wasn't disappointed here. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes which were the best pancakes that I've ever had. They're light, and moist, and soft with a lot of lemon flavor even without the lemon curd. I also had a side of their Million Dollar Bacon. Everyone one seems to be making a version of this, but theirs is the best I've tasted. My hubby had a crab omelette which he really liked as well. And the best thing about this place is that they sell a recipe book so I can make those pancakes at home. read more

Not sure what happened here. The first time we were here, it was great. Our last visit was less than mediocre. The service was fine, but the food wasn't nearly as good as it was before. When visiting family in Charleston, my husband and try to get to First Watch. The line might appear lengthy on the weekend, but it's a large enough restaurant where you don't have to wait long. They have an impressive selection on their menu. This past weekend I selected coffee, a fresh pressed juice (only $3.99 for a big one) and the Caps, etc. I love mushrooms so opted for the Caps, etc. for my meal. I was excited to see my plate when Beverly placed it in front of me; a whole bowl of house roasted crimini with a little melted cheese on top. Next to the bowl, eggs and seasoned potatoes. Stepping into this joint, I felt I had just interrupted a bunch of pubescent teens amidst childish drama. I'm kind of glad the place we wanted to go ended up being closed. We plugged breakfast into the trusty Yelp search bar and it pointed us here. There's parking on the street, but there's an actual lot available for patrons of this restaurant directly across the street as well. We walked in and had no idea what to do. lol This place is pretty popular and I totally get why, but we were straight doe in headlights for a second there. Turns out, the bar seating over in the corner is first come, first serve and otherwise you put your name on the list and wait. There weren't any seats available at the moment, so we put our name on the list for a 20 minute wait. About 5 minutes in, two seats at the bar opened up and we moseyed on over. Our server was Amanda. She was very cordial and extremely good at interacting with all customers at the bar area. The food was bananas. Not actual bananas. Y'all know what I mean. I ordered the Key West Crepeggs: a crepe with turkey, bacon, tomatoes and Monterey Jack cheese. It came with an English muffin and strawberry jam with fresh potatoes. The crepe was light with crisp edges, just how I like it. I could have done with more bacon, but I think that's always the case for me. The English muffin looked like it wasn't as crispy as I like, but it actually had a really nice crunch and a delectable layer of butter on top. Yum! The potatoes were thoroughly cooked and seasoned well. The Fiancé got the Chickichanga and I barely got to get a corner, so I think he enjoyed it. lol I liked the bit I got to taste and I don't even like avocado, so that's saying something. Get the pancakes! I cannot stress the above sentence enough. I honestly think this was the best pancake I've ever had in my entire life! Maybe I should back up. My fiance's sister told us about this place and how we really needed to try it out. We were only in Charleston for one more day, but she hyped it up so much that I wanted to try it. There is only street parking, but it was pretty easy to find an open meter and honestly Charleston parking is incredibly cheap (a quarter for 30 minutes!). We walked inside and found a well lit, open restaurant. The colors were cheery and there was tons of space. This is definitely a place that has regulars, because the moment we sat down our server asked us if we knew what we wanted. After a quick glance at the menu we decided we would need a lot more time to decide! I ended up getting the Tri Athlete and a Bacon and Cheddar Pancake. Before I came I looked online at the nutritional information of the Tri Athlete and thought that it wouldn't be terribly filling so I should get a pancake as well. Boy was I wrong! When my plate came out I realized I wouldn't finish everything. The omelet was amazing. It came with homemade salsa, which was absolutely delicious. I really like their menu of healthy choices (although everything seems rather healthy in comparison to many other restaurant options). Then the pancake arrived. It was huge! I could have just eaten the pancake for breakfast. And it was love at first bite. A little bit sweet, nice crispy edges, and a great flavor of bacon and cheddar. Wow! What a terrific find in downtown Charleston. There are not a lot of Sunday breakfast options, and we were staying at a hotel nearby and were totally underwhelmed with the hotel's "complimentary breakfast." We got there at about 9:15am and the place was packed. There was about a 15 minute wait, but they do provide complimentary coffee while you wait. I had a belgian waffle and bacon --- it was terrific. I could live without the upcharge for "pure maple syrup", but it was worth the extra $1.25. My companions had bacon and cheddar pancakes and pecan pancakes --- both excellent. The coffee is nice and strong and piping hot. Service was quick but not rushed considering the line outside. Overall, definitely worth dragging yourself out of bed on the weekends -- or any morning. read more
