What a great dog park! It's free, it's clean, and all of the animals are well behaved. There were…read moreno fights and everyone had a great time. They even have two separate areas. One is specifically for small dogs, but that doesn't mean they can't go into the regular park. There are picnic tables for owners to sit, but I wouldn't recommend trying to have an actual picnic on them. Dogs love to jump on the tabletops. There are also supposed to be doggy pick-up bags, but I didn't see them. I only know about them because some woman, apparently the poop police, approached me and suggested that I "clean up after [my] dog" since I didn't do it immediately as I was having a conversation with someone. Apparently she could watch my dog do its business but couldn't be bothered to notice I came prepared with a bag dispenser. You know, because I just carry around my own bags on my dog's leash as a fashion accessory. They've recently done some construction in the area for the better. There is now a very pretty paved pathway with bricks and some of them are custom ordered by people who donated to the park. It's still a work in progress and I can't wait to see all the other updates.

It is three acres and is divided into two different sections, a big dog yard and a small dog yard. The big dog yard is located on the South side and the small dog yard is located on the North side. Both yards are completely fenced in and enclosed. Each yard has water bowls, toys, trash cans, doggy waste bags, doggy tubes and picnic benches. The surface of each yard is cover with wood mulch and wood chips. The small dog yard even has a fake fire hydrant for the doggies to air themselves out on. Just a dogs dream. The park is maintained by the Wood Dale Park District but they ask that you be responsible and supervisor yourself. I have met many friendly and interesting people there with all different types of K9s. The park is great for Families and friends. There is no registration or fee to use the park and visitors are welcome. Many visitors and Wood Dale residents use the park. Just North of the park in an old historic cabin and a kids park. It is an ideal set-up for the Family. The park has always been clean and safe. Employees of the Park District and the Wood Dale Police make periodic visits to ensure a safe environment. Wood Dale did a great job with the White Oaks Dog Park. I gave the White Oaks Dog Park, FIVE STARS. Bring you FIVE STAR DOGS TO WHITE OAKS DOG PARK,,,, SAYS BIG DOG!!!!

It is like pulling the toupe off a guy and seeing he is bald. Elk Grove Village is a Self Rule Government that apparently (by reading other people's comments who have lived here for years) does as it wishes. The fire department employees are great people. The police department has nice people also, but does some underhanded hiding to snag speeders such as parking in the middle of the road at night with their lights off. I called them out on this and I was told it's legal and that is how they make money. Sure it's legal. Shaking my head. There is a great industrial park where a Freedom of Information Act should be filed as to how much tax dollars are coming into this village for there is not one park bench found except for along Devon Avenue where they have some sculptured Elk. Devon is not very close to residential areas. The residents have pointed out to me the government has offered land development contracts to friends out of the area (no proof of any friendship). They have torn down a bowling alley people used. Restaurants have closed up due to daydreaming landlords of property value. The Jewel/Osco during the last snowstorm let the people's feet melt the ice and snow. The manager of course blamed the landlord. The hospital, is a whole other story in itself. The people are nice for the most part. They are NOT heroes because they worked during the pandemic. A hero has a different meaning than doing your job. This last time I was there in the emergency room with terrible stabbing pains in my back, the nurse wheeled me into a small intake room and whacked the side of the chair into the doorway. No sorry as I grimaced in pain. EGV is not cute by any stretch of the word unless you think Rumplestilskin was handsome. If you want cute, go to Galena. That is cute. EGV...Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I'm in a few park and playground social media groups, and the park at the Des Plaines Park District…read moreAdministrative Center has come up a time or two as being particularly good. I decided we should finally go check it out. If you're coming here for the playground, don't make the boneheaded mistake I did: Stopping at the Iroquois Community School, which is right off Touhy and when I saw the school's playground I thought we were at our destination. You will be sorely disappointed if you stop at the wrong one. If you make your way here via Birch Street, you'll go all the way to the end of the street, turn left, and find the park on the other side of the building; if you take Maple Street to get here, drive down toward the barricade dividing the street and you won't be able to miss it on your right. With all that out of the way, this is a fantastic park. When we left the school playyard, something just seemed off and I am so glad that I went around the block to find the actual playground we'd intended to visit, at the DPPD. It's all the way back at the end of the road; you'll essentially dead-end into when you head down Birch. This is my current favorite playground. The equipment is fantastic and so much of it is geared toward the littlest kiddos, which is not always the case. Here there are small things for them to climb on and under, there's a little "farmers market" booth with different play elements, crawl spaces, slides, and so on. My little girl had fun just running around the place, and she also did some crawling and climbing and sliding and enjoyed trying to feed the big turtle sculpture, as well as naming the turtle's body parts that she recognized. Toward the tail end of our visit, she spotted the swings, which is her favorite so we spent a while there before heading out. All told, we spent about 45 minutes here. The first time, that is--we've since been back again in the last week or so since our first visit and were there for an hour or more. There are several picnic tables in this playground area as well, so many of the parents were hanging out there whilst the kids ran around. This playground is geared toward younger kids (10 and below). The terrain is turf, grass, and paved walkways throughout, and it's fully fenced which is one of my favorite features of a park right now (though some parents are better than others about making sure the gates are actually closed). There's a private parking lot, very convenient. I hope we see you there!

They were selling Christmas tress while I was there. The restroom facilities are also co-located here. Inside the bandshell you will find plaques with the name of the Des Plaines veteran that lost their life and which war it occurred. The center of the bandshell has the seal of all 5 of the US armed forces. There is a flag pole and a brick walkway leading from the bandshell and ends in a small circle. Because the pavilion provides somewhat protection from the elements, homeless people seek refuge here. This is a small, but fitting tribute to the honorable veterans that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Also, the EPD offer preschool classes, which my kids are currently enrolled in. They are loving it, and so am I! The teachers are super sweet, and really teach the kids a lot--from counting and alphabet, to manners. You name it, they teach it. My kids have flourished during their time in the Sunbeams and Rainbows program! It's a tiny bit expensive, but well worth it. I would totally recommend it to anyone looking for a preschool!
