The area is bright, clean and inviting, with plenty of space for adults to relax while the children explore. I love that I can see my daughter from any angle of the seating area. Solid European song selection as well, I can't even tell you how peaceful it was to not have to listen to children's music for two hours. They offer semi-private and private birthday parties and have a super cute private area to help your littles celebrate! "Playroom Cafe" is officially added to my list of children's cafes, even though it is a bit farther away from where we live. "Playroom Cafe" is located on the second floor in the Randhurst Village outdoor shopping area. The admission fee for each child is $17, with 2 adults allowed. The layout is nice and adults can supervise their kids with mostly unobstructed view while sitting down. Food offerings mirror the typical cafe items you can find in most places. Shoes are required to be off inside the cafe/play area for everyone. During our visit, we saw the staff who did a great job keeping the venue clean and things were picked up from the ground in a timely manner. They were also working on setting up a private, members-only party when we were there. Therefore, there was a plenty of people working and serving the patrons on a Saturday afternoon. Our boys had an awesome time releasing their energy and enjoyed the waffles and berry smoothie. My partner and I took turns to hang with them at the play area, which was nice to share responsilities while finding time to relax and sipping a cup of joe. We probably will be back at some point because the drive to Mount Prospect is quite long. Nevertheless, we like "Playroom Cafe" and will recommend for patents who are specifically looking for kids-centric cafes in Chicagoland.

But the staff in the front/lobby area were super helpful to direct us to the right place. There is a lot for a child to explore inside and perfect for ages 3-7, I'd say. Some of the slides are VERY FAST. So be aware of that if you have really little ones climbing up. The graphics of the waterfall and lazy river is a cute touch! Food and beverage wasn't cheap, but just above today's fast food out on the street, and quite frankly portions that could be shared. Last but not least, the rides all seemed to be in great working order. We never felt any concerns with the girls riding any of them. My older son was very excited when he saw some clips about this place and we decided to pay a visit. We came on a Saturday. There were many kids, with a wide range of ages, on the giant jungle gym, the large bullpen with an interactive screen, and the young toddler area. Check-in involved with waiver-signing and socks purchasing for first timers. I believe a pair of socks cost $3.50 and each child's admission was $18.50 (as of 02/14/26). There yellow-bee socks seemed to have a good grip on the bottom, but we will see how they would hold up after a few washes. My kids were a little hesitant to get on the big boss jungle gym first, so they started playing at the toddler area to condition themselves. Eventually they released their inhibition and were climbing all levels numerous times. My 2.5 year-old, small-statured younger son went on the suspended bridge repeatedly until he overcame his fear, so it was impressive to see his progress when facing challenges. For parental supervision, for the most part, parents would be able to watch their kids while sitting down at the perimeters. I spent majority of time chasing my two boys while slightly bend down at the jungle gym the entire time. Adults were able to get on them and they seemed sturdy, yet for tall individuals there would be no way to stand straight inside this if you were to constantly go after the kid(s). Everyone in my family enjoyed "Kids Play Hive," but one star was deducted because the lack of boundaries on protecting the little ones who also wanted the opportunities to play. There was a group of older boys and everyone was very energetic and running fast throughout the venue. When they got to the young toddler zone, they took up space reserved for the little crawlers and walkers. While it didn't significantly impact my experience, but that would be something for the management to think about for crowd-control purposes. There was also a birthday celebration going on and the invited guests got to use the party room. Overall, "Kids Play Hive," in my opinion, is a well-designed indoor playground with convenient parking. We don't live awfully far away and will definitely come back in the future. The snacks and beverages they sell also are priced reasonably. Guests are allowed bring their food and there is a designated dining area.

One of my favorite…read morethings about this play café is how easy it is to keep an eye on your child while actually getting to sit down and enjoy your coffee. At other play cafés, I feel like I'm constantly getting up and following my daughter around just to see what she's doing. There are a few areas where you'll need to move around to keep an eye on them, but for the most part, the space is really open and easy to see. It's so nice to be able to sit back, enjoy a coffee, and let her play independently while I watch from the sidelines. We always have a great time and will definitely keep coming back.
