The orchard is huge, with plenty of room to roam and apple tree varieties to choose from, mostly honey crisp, but also crimson crisp, Jonagold, fuji, and gala. Admission is $5 per person and we paid $22 for a two-person you-pick peck. Which was more than enough for us! Cons: Parking was an issue (it was a weekend) with unclear traffic flow through the lot...and it became progressively more busy later in the day.

Expect some hill climbing and pretty scenery between the apple trees and flower fields. I imagine the trek could be more challenging for families with young ones. Wilson's boasts 100 varieties of apples, one of the reasons I visited the orchard in the first place. At the end of September, I filled my bags with two varieties I had never heard of, which was fun. The rows were well-marked with the apples that were ready for picking as well as the name of the variety. More importantly, the apples were delicious. Overall, I'm very happy I spent a morning here, and I imagine just about anyone else will feel similarly.

Large selection of fish, (he gets a new shipment every Wednesday right now), and fair, fair prices. Hung is the type of guy you buy a dozen blue foot hermit crabs, he's going to throw in a couple just cuz... Great quality specimens too, I have never had anything die I bought from here. Have an extensive selection of corals....the 400+ gallon stingray tank right when you walk in is awesome.....there is also a large circular "pond" in the store with freshwater Koi. They don't open till 2, We'd thru Sunday usually, but they are closed on Sundays for the month of August.

The downtown is very lively and extremely walkable. Iowa Chop House is located in downtown Iowa City. I went there for dinner on a Sunday and had the steak salad and asparagus. Both were excellent. I was served by Grace who was an excellent waitress and I enjoyed talking to her about the town and university. I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The only downside was the desert which I had a tiramisu which I'm spoiled and have better tiramisu before. However the steak salad & asparagus side was perfect. I visited only a day when graduation happened one week prior so the university students were away. The waitress explained normally downtown becomes very crowded during the semester. I feel like since we had a party of 7, it was challenging to get the steaks to our exact temperature but my mother in law got well done and it was cooked to medium.
