We were so happy to find Bullfrog diving service. We had a few very old wood pilings in the lake…read morethat were broken off and could have been a hazard. They were used for a previous owner's pier but that structure was long gone. The old pilings remained in the lake and were deteriorating. Frank came with his dive gear and tools and cut each piling off at ground level as flush as possible. It's much safer now and the view out to the lake is so much cleaner with less obstruction. We are very happy with the results. He has all the tools to cut through wood or metal. We will definitely refer him to neighbors and friends if they need underwater help.

The instructors, dive guides, and retail employees are all super friendly and knowledgeable. They all love diving and it's great to just go in and talk shop with them from time to time. I've had several instructors teaching various courses and while personalities and teaching styles vary, they were all very professional and safety focused. They'll answer questions, give examples and advice...in general they'll do anything they can to make you a better diver. I've referred several people to them and pretty much everyone I've sent has come back reporting that they really enjoyed their experience also. My wife and I got Open Water Certified a few years ago, and it was a great experience. There were a couple pool sessions with gear plus a weekend down in Monterey with the dreamy kelp forests. I also did an Advanced Diver Course last year w Original Oaktown which had a NitrOx component. It consisted of more top notch diving in Monterey, including low vis navigation, night diving, and a deep dive to 100'. I can't recommend Aaron highly enough. He has been diving for decades in Northern California and knows everything. He cares so much about his students' proficiency, safety, and confidence in the water. He is training his students to be independent divers. He also has tons of helpful risk management and dive safe know-how that you will pick up.

Decided to rent some bikes while we were staying in Mendocino. The shop is cute with it being right…read moreon the water. Definitely debated renting a canoe as well but we just didn't have enough time. The bikes were perfect to get us around town and down a trial close by. We had them reserved for 3 hours but they weren't worried about our time limit as long as we got them back by 4:30. The owners of the shop are super chill and relaxed. We felt very welcomed in their space. It was easy to book online and they're very responsive and flexible. I will say the breaks on the bike were a little worn but didn't pose any issues for us. We felt safe riding around and had no trouble.

I was a little bit nervous because our pup doesn't exactly love water nor do we canoe often, but Rick via email and the staff on site were so helpful in answering any lingering questions. Rowing away from site was easy and smooth, and we floated off the side for a bit to take in the view. Once the wind picked up, rowing back was harder since we were going against the current, but still manageable! Everyone had a great time. We didn't use up the full three hours we were booked for, but nonetheless made it quite the way before turning back. We also respectfully from a distance, saw many seals! Our pup ended up enjoying her time on the canoe, and was all smiles. She was so relaxed that she actually fell asleep on the way back while we worked to paddle against the current. I'd say totally add this to your itinerary and make sure you bring a hat, sunscreen, and water for hydration!
