He did a great job explaining safety while kayaking, keeping our group together on the water, vetting out highlight areas before we passed through, pointed out highlights to take note of, and supplied all equipment day of. We had the best time of enjoying 90 minutes of beginner friendly paddling, viewing water wildlife, going through small sea caves, and more! The kayak is really simple to maneuver and work with but cation if you have motion sickness tendencies because there are still small waves out in the coves. We were out there long enough! We had 2 instructors with us and one of their daughters guiding the way for us. There was a lot of yelling and I felt like one of the instructors wasn't in the best moods but as a group we still made really fun memories! I don't know how to swim but felt completely comfortable with the boat. You will get wet, your bottoms, shoes, sleeves, etc. If you want to bring your phone with you I suggest storing it in your top near your biceps or chest area to prevent it from getting wet. Warning, the bathrooms at the beach site for meetups are nasty, change or go bathroom before coming to the meet up spot.

Throughout the entire ride, James was constantly checking in to make sure we were doing okay, enjoying ourselves, and taking in the experience. The e-bikes were a blast to ride, but honestly, a huge part of what made the afternoon so enjoyable was the time we spent talking and getting to know James. James has an incredible wealth of knowledge about the Napa wine industry, and he was able to share so much interesting information along the way. But what really stood out was that his knowledge went far beyond wine. He was genuinely interesting to talk to, incredibly personable, and clearly someone who has a lot of experience and perspective on life. It felt less like we were simply on a guided bike tour and more like we were spending an afternoon with a great person who happened to know Napa incredibly well. While we have used different outfits lately - we had a great experience with Russian River Adventures a few years back, so we came in excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing, mainly due to poor planning by the staff. We booked for four people on a Thursday - my wife, myself, and our two teens (14 and 16)--with the expectation that we'd have two boats, which is standard for this group size. However, the team miscounted the boats that morning. When we pointed this out, instead of fixing the mistake, they pulled us aside and crammed all four of us into a boat intended for three, squeezing in an extra seat to make it "fit." Visibly frustrated, the team promised to speak with the owner and make it right (it was two high schoolers running it that day). I didn't argue and wanted to at least try to have a good time and not be that Dad. The result on the boat? A very cramped and uncomfortable setup that made the inflatable much harder to steer and navigate--especially on a 9-mile river trip. This wasn't the experience we paid for or expected based on our prior trips. The staff seemed more focused on moving us along rather than making it right. Still haven't heard from the owner. We'll likely explore other options next time around. Disappointed to see the service slip like this.

I ended up asking the owner for some advice on how to get started in the local waters. He was incredibly helpful- not only did he recommend a specific spoon spinner, but he even took the time to show me the best way to cast and retrieve it for the river. This place is definitely a local gem. Whether you're a regular or you're like me and somehow managed to leave your tackle box at home, it's a great spot to drop by. Of the 4 kayaks we used only 1 had the connections for tie downs and a single rope to tie down our cooler. Take plenty of sunscreen since there is no way to avoid the sun for about 3 hours. The suggestion to take dry clothes for after the trip was appreciated. No way you can get away from getting wet.
