A pretty little seaside cafe servicing the suprisingly large amount of tourists that float through town. Located right on the waterfront this spot is always busy and buzzing.
While popularity might seem like a grand thing it comes at a cost. I've never seen a cafe with so many rules, regulations and signs. As we had the dogs with us we sat outside. The first sign tells you to order and pay inside as a result of many many people not paying when dining outside. Walking inside you are hit with a wave of confusion. There's a small cafe area and a bar area. No sign telling you where to actually order. This small confusion and lack of staff assistance saw quite a few of us waiting around trying to order. Which gave me even more time to read signs. The sign telling guests to ask for more water from the fridge. There are signs telling the staff how to act. How to deal with intoxicated patrons. How to call 000 if they need help. It goes on and is a bit over powering. As a customer you hope that staff have the basic skills to be a waiter and don't need constant reminding to do stuff.
The price of cakes were pretty hefty. $6 for a muffin-ouch! In the end we ended up just having a coffee each and a yo-yo biscuit. I was one happy pelican scoffing away the most delicious yo-yo I have ever tasted. Next time we head down his way I'll be stopping by to grab a few for the road trip home. read more
