It was built in 2011 and is a memorial that features a monument dedicated to those who have served in the armed forces and is the home to our annual Memorial Ceremony. Around the base of the monument you will find the logos of all the uniformed services and Fisher's Police and Fire Departments. They each lead to one of the points on the six-point star that the monument sits on. There are benches in the area for visitors to sit and reflect. The monument itself has different sized granite slabs with stars on the and the tallest one having an eagle on top of it and the inscription, "Liberty Plaza, Proclaim Liberty Throughout the Land, Unto All the Inhabitants Thereof." The monument sits in a functional fountain, which is laid upon the six point star. The city holds its annual Memorial and Veterans Day ceremonies here. There is a decent amount of free parking on streets near the Plaza and there is a parking garage nearby. This place is very well maintained and nicely done. This is a good stop to make if you are in the area, but I would probably not make it a destination stop. So, to all the veterans and public servants out there, thank you for your service.

The playgrounds are great and seemed pretty inclusive of most age ranges. There's a lot of climbing areas, some more like steps and some ropes and ladders, so they vary the challenge level. This was great for the littles I was with (4-5 yo) and still interesting for older kids I saw playing. Toddlers have their own little playground off to the side. They do have a glider for wheelchair users, but I don't think the rest of the main equipment would be accessible. Maybe the swings for some. There are a lot of mature trees off to one side and at least one picnic table over there. When the trees bloom for the year, it's going to be beautiful! They have a sand volleyball court, paved walking path, and I spotted a few more sports areas--basketball, soccer. There's potentially a lot to do here! Bathrooms were close to the playground and clean. It's close enough to go grab coffee or ice cream after as well, which in my opinion, makes it great for a day of fun. I'll look forward to seeing the park again later this spring/summer!

Despite the unforeseen detour we enjoyed visiting the creek and the parts of the trail we could. There are lots of bugs in the woods near the creek but other than this I recommend visiting. It's very peaceful.

Cheeney Creek is a nice nature area just south of downtown Fishers. This area features paved and…read morenature trails with tall trees to keep things cool in the summer. If you prefer to walk/hike in the shade, Cheeney Creek is a good place to visit. The trails aren't particularly long, clocking in at around two miles. There is more to see with the nature trails since they run adjacent to a large pond. There are several spots and a dock that are ideal for fishing. Cheeney Creek was moderately busy during a weekend visit. I ran into a few folks here or there and some bikers, but that's about it. Afterwards you can take a short walk or drive to 116th street for some refreshments.

It was part of the city's Community Master Art Plan. His other work that was part of the project is titled "Straight-On Monon" and is located at 116th Street and Municipal Drive. I like this piece. It is very colorful and has a lot going on. It covers the entire signal box. It is based off of a French card game that goes by the same name as the mural, Miles Bournes, which translates to 1000 miles. The pictures on the mural are taken from the actually cards from the game. I checked it myself. You can get the game from Amazon if you are interested. One side of the mural depicts an upside down green traffic light (ironic it is on a signal box huh), with a large green circle, with the French word roulez, which means roll, over it. The number 100 is on there 3 times, one of them being on what looks like a garage with a red roof. The other side has an upside down red traffic light with a large red circle and the word "stop" over the circle. The number 50 is also on that side painted on what looks like a garage with a red roof. One side of the box has a upside down green car and a red blown tire with the French "creve" above it, which translates to dog-tired, There are also blue tire treads in the background. The opposite side has a blue tire with what looks like red spikes attempting to puncture it in 2 places and the words "increvable", which is French for puncture proof, above and below it. Like I said previously, there is a lot going on. This piece is somewhat easy to find. But don't worry, if you are having a difficult time finding it, just look for the nearest traffic light. All signal boxes, painted with murals or not, are near traffic lights. It is right in front of Blaze Pizza. As is the case with most murals that I review, this is probably not a very long stop. I was there less than 3 minutes. It is probably best to plan out additional stops at many of the other wonderful murals in the area, including the other signal box murals, to maximize your trip

The artist has captured the images from the cards, only bigger. With the signal box being a control for traffic, the card game is a natural fit images of traffic lights, flat tires, and traffic signs. There are even some of the speed cards like the duck (50) and the rabbit (100). It was a fun game to play as a kid and even more fun to be reminded of those times whenever I pass this mural. Splash Pad + Main Playground The splash pad is SO colorful and fun! The playground has separate toddler + big kid sections, lots of monkey bars, padded ground, and bathrooms with a changing table nearby. Mayflower Tot Playground 3 small slides, monkey bars + a long tunnel. This one is pretty run-down and could use some TLC. Norsey Wood Playground 4 slides, rock wall, 2 types of monkey bars + a slow-moving zipline. Also a little run-down, and I'd supervise closely around the tire tether/saw. A few things to know: No swings at any of the 4 playgrounds Wooded area + walking trail Baseball fields + batting cages Bathrooms by the splash pad; porta-potties near the other playgrounds And don't miss the English phone booth near the park building -- it pays tribute to Fishers' sister city, Billericay, England! The Fair Train that ran through Fishers had an engine on both ends, one black and one red. So Hammonds painted a black engine on the north side and a red engine on the south side of the box to commemorate those. This is a very interesting park. It is a nature/sports park. It spans 66 acres and has a decent…read moreamount of parking available. The is a restroom facility, and port-a-potty available if you need it. You will find a huge patch of green space that have a couple of pair of uprights that could be used for a football or soccer field. There are a few small bleachers that overlook the field. There are also 4 multi-purpose fields with backstops that can be used for baseball, kickball, or softball. However, a permit is required to use any of the fields at the park and the Carmel Dad's Club gets first dibs, from what I gathered. There is also a playground at the park, that is inspired by the area's archeological background. That is where you will find a tree trunk chopping play set, a sand pit, a small fort built on a hill with a slide, ropes and rock climbing, and a small play gym inspired by the rattlesnake effigy. There is a very nice interactive display in a small building over in that area as well. You press a button and the displays inside the building come to life, somewhat, and a narrator provides some details and background. I have never seen anything like this at a park. It is educational and very nice. The park also features a few trails. There are natural trails, near the playground area that wind through the prairies and a large paved trail that goes around the parks fields. That trail is a fitness trail and has a few pieces of equipment, with instructions place along the circular route. The park is very well maintained, especially considering its size. because of the tons of green space, this park is popular among people who want their dogs to free roam and run around. I really like this park. Even though, I did not see any picnic shelters, it still has a lot to offer. I just won't picnic there. It is emaculate and very well maintained. I highly recommend checking this park out.

The season just literally started! It's March 29th. I'm not amused at all. So I have to leave the whole park take everything just so I can use the bathroom?! There is a decent sized parking lot that is connected to the park by a bridge over Mud Creek. There is also some street parking available on the other side of the park. The park has a huge green space that can used for soccer, football, and a picnic. I saw some kids flying a kite on the space while I was there. They have a decent bathroom facility near the parking lot and a picnic shelter. You will find two horseshoe pits (The only park in Fishers with that amenity) near the shelter and a very nice basketball court in the center of the park. The playground is a mud free one that is constructed on a rubber surface. It does not have much as far as equipment goes, but it features two jungle gyms. One of them is huge and has lots of slides, ladders and walkways. The other is a bit smaller and has a few slides and is for the little kids. You will also find a tight rope in the area and climbing rocks, and two banks of swings with traditional, special needs, and toddler swings on them. The equipment is not the newest, but is well maintained and in good shape. There are benches and picnic tables in the playground area for parents to sit while their littles are playing. The picnic tables have a small shade awning over them. Just like most of the park's amenities, it is very nice. The park is very clean and well maintained. I like its quarter mile walking/storybook trail loop and Mud Creek overlook where you can sit and enjoy the creek. With it being a nice park, it can get busy during nice weather, especially during school breaks and weekends. My little really liked the park and it was really hard to get my little to leave. It is a nice park right outside of a Fisher's neighborhood. I am glad we had some good weather and that my little was able to make it out.

This is a small, but well done tribute to Gold Star families. It was dedicated in May 2021 and…read morehonors the families of servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives while serving in the military. It costed about $60,000 to build. There are not many such monuments or memorials dedicated to that group. It consists of two benches to sit and reflect, a nice sculpture and a dedication plaque. The memorial is located right in front of Fisher's City Hall and is easy to get to. There is free street parking in the vicinity of the memorial and a free lot with a few spots behind city hall. The sculpture is the center piece of the memorial. It is a 4 granite slab panels and was made by by the Louisville-based Woody Williams Foundation. Two panels with a cutout silhouette of a solder rendering a hand salute, along with the gold-etched words, "Gold Star Families Memorial Monument" with a large gold star above it on the first panel and "A Tribute to on the second panel." The third panel has "Gold Star Families and Relative" etched in it. The fourth and final panel has "who sacrificed a loved one for our Freedom. The opposite side of the sculpture is adorned with the words: Homeland, Family Patriot, and Sacrifice, respectively. and has nice pictures of a flag folding, and serviceman's funeral, Iwo Jima flag raising, and a couple of other photos. I really loved the photos. They are very fitting and nice. On this side is where you will also find the dedication plaque on the ground. There are two granite benches, one is dedicated to USAF Vet William Fehribach and the other has a picture of an American Flag with a soaring eagle in the lower left hand corner. It is sponsored by Freedom Mortgage and has the phrase "Serving Those Who Serve our Nation" on it. This is a nice place to reflect and pay respects to those members of the Armed Forces that made the ultimate sacrifice. There are not many memorials or monuments dedicated to Gold Star families. There are less than 90 nationwide. The Woody Williams foundation has made these monuments in all 50 states and Guam. The front of each monument is the same, but they personalized the reverse side to suit each respective community. Great job Fishers for taking part in this and making this happen.
