Rye Manhattan
Kelli K.

Stopped in for a night cap and left with an amazing bottle of natural wine! The Manhattan I had was tasty, and I loved the crackers and accompaniments that came with the cheese plate. The cheese itself was great as well. The service was quick and friendly. As other reviewers have noted, it's very cute and cozy inside They have a large selection of wines for such a small spot! Prices ranged from $20-$40 or so. I really appreciated the variety of high quality choices from around the globe. I ended up picking up a bottle of orange wine, which isn't as common to find, and it did not disappoint. I would stop by again anytime!

Avinyó Blanc

A few friends and I decided after dinner we wanted to stop into Fishtown Social to check it out because we hadn't stopped in before. As we walked in we were greeted by the bartender and sat at the bar. After looking at the menu we presently surprised with the wine/cocktails/drafts list as they had a relatively niche list that allowed for options as well. I was stuck between the Echeverria and Avinyó Blanc, which I was given a taste test for both. The bartender explained that the Avinyó Blanc was their favorite and after the testing, I couldn't agree more. You could taste the hints of pear & citrus peel pairing together for a refreshing flavor, while still having bubbles needed for the sparkling vibe. I will definitely be coming back for happy hour in the near future! I would also recommend this as a date spot as there isn't an overwhelming amount of people at the bar. I also think their lighting was perfect where it's not too dark, but you can also see the person(s) next to you! Price points for wines/cocktails were between $12-$16. They offered snacks for when the kitchen is open running from $9-$11, and lastly they did have charcuterie boards listed at $15 per board!

Bubbles, Riesling, Chardonnay

I had a great experience placing a wine delivery with Fishtown Social a few weeks ago. The full list of offerings is available on their website, with some notes about each bottle. I ordered two whites (including a dry riesling from local winery Wayvine - I love this wine!) and a bottle of bubbles. Deliveries take place on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I placed my order through email on a Thursday night, received confirmation and paid on Friday morning, and received the delivery that afternoon. There's really something for everyone on Fishtown Social's wine list, so give them a look next time you're stocking up on wine.

Great cozy spot to grab drinks! Enjoyed the experience and thought the atmosphere was nice and low-key

Great low-key, cozy spot to grab wine if you're in Fishtown! The bartender was friendly and engaging and the wine was excellent. Overall, had an enjoyable experience and would return if I'm in the area.

Rated as one of the best wine stores in PA. The staff is always so friendly and makes amazing recommendations. I love their wine and the variety. They also have incredible truffle almonds if you make it while the kitchen is open. Another recommendation is their wine on tap.

Such great owners! This is a perfect happy hour spot on Frankford especially when the weather is permitting for the outdoor season. I believe this is the only spot in the area offering big-a-shuck 7 days a week along with drink specials. The Saturday & Sunday 3-5pm happy hour deal is a great addition. Great lite bites offered too cheese boards etc. They have a bottle shop attached at the back where you can purchase bottles to go.

Beaujolais!

The wine and food and staff are all good. It's kinda a grown up place for fishtown, a lot more comfortable than the cooler places

The Spritz drink from the happy hour menu was a delight (although still expensive at $9). We ordered the oysters, which were delicious and they came with 4 sauces (tomatillo, mignonette, cocktail, carrot habanero). The fries were delicious and we loved the aioli they were served with (bonus that they're $6 on the hh menu). The Birchrun Blue cheese was incredible and came with a generous portion of bread and a tasty horseradish jelly. The chicory salad and Caesar Brussels sprouts were both outstanding veg dishes. We finished our meal with the frozen yogurt. The flavor options weren't my favorite but I believe these are seasonal. To summarize, the prices are a bit steep here but the vibes, service, food and drinks are all fantastic!

Maybe it was because we thought the restaurant's culinary concept was somewhat mundane ("picnic"). Maybe it was the simplicity of the food or ingredients on the menu... BUT BOY WERE WE WRONG! THE FOOD WAS GREAT! Simple dishes, yes...but executed really well! We were surprised, but maybe we shouldn't have been. With the super-friendly service and unique open concept warehouse meets magic garden decor, we will definitely be back...at least for the prime rib special! And yes, it's "deep into Fishtown." So deep, in fact, that it's full on past Fishtown and actually in East Kensington. This swanky, hip place…read moreoffers up elevated tasty food and superb service in an exquisitely decorated, albeit small, cafe. We braved negative degree weather for the roughly 10 minute walk from our hotel. We walked in at a good time. This is the type of place where a reservation for breakfast would be required. We were sat immediately. The dining area is tight. A green velvet bench, marble tables, metal chairs, all packed into a small area. You could very well have your butt brush over the table of the patrons next to you if you have to get up for any reason. It's tight. Our server was around quickly. He was super friendly and kept things conversational, light and sophisticated. My wife ordered an iced latte, I had their hot drip coffee. For a starter, we had to try the cinnamon knot bread. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was good. Although, we wouldn't order again. The bread is presented as a small loaf, room temperature with a cold cream cheese icing drizzled over top. The bread had a mild cinnamon flavor and was dry. It lacked the sweet, moist dough you expect from a cinnamon bread. My wife ordered the French style omelet. This had gruyere cheese and chives. Beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and the taste was spot on. It was good enough to forget that she paid $21 for just an omelet, no meat, no sides. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Pretty standard here. The eggs had bright orange yolks which is common for farm fresh eggs. The "coffee" hollandaise didn't come across with a coffee flavor but it was rich and went well with the ham and English muffins. One thing that stuck with me was their drip coffee. Not sure if it has been a while since I had a light roast but the Rival Bros. Revolver coffee was so good, I got a bag of whole beans to bring back home with me. I may even order it again online. Enswell succeeded on all fronts. The ambiance and service was great. The decor, impeccable. The food, thoughtful and tasty. The details from the silverware to the plates added to the experience. We would come back.

Our waitress actually let us sample a few of the wines, since we couldn't decide! This was awesome and so rare these days, but a definite plus for any "wine bar". That being said, the food was really underwhelming. The highlight for me was the tuna crudo, which was so flavorful, creative, and absolutely melted in my mouth. The carrots were also really good. The pastas, however, which the place is known for, lacked flavor. The menu descriptions seemed super unique and innovative, but when the dishes arrived, they were seriously lacking. I really did come here for the pasta, and since the meal wasn't exactly cheap, I don't think I'll be rushing back.

We did the tasting menu for $55 a person which is a really good deal considering it consists of two appetizers, three pastas and two desserts, which basically means you're getting an additional pasta (and maybe app) for the $$ you were going to pay anyways. Service was impeccable and I loved that changed out the plates and silverware for every course, especially because some of the sauces were thick.

Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time. Everything here is family style so make sure you order multiple plates. My only gripe about this place was that the plates are really small even for family style and kind of pricey so you end up ordering more. Appetizers - Crispy octopus and foccacia. So good! I'm not a huge fan of octopus but it literally just tasted like calamari with some puree on the side that tasted so good. Main dishes - Margherita pizza... my fav thing that we ate here. So much flavor and yet still so crunchy. For pastas we ordered the fustilli which was like a bowtie pasta with tomato sauce and basil. We also ordered the carbonara which was cooked suuuper al dente and was tasty; it was on the saltier side. As for the mains - flat iron steak and branzino. My siblings were literally fighting over the last bites on the steak and branzino lol. Dessert - Since it was my sister's birthday we got to try the tiramisu which was deliciously rich and creamy. Also you get 4 and they're (IMO) too big for 2 people to share (but great for a larger group) because I was starting to get full. Entrees were the Eggs in Purgatory (perhaps an Italian shakshuka) which we ordered because the people next to us ordered it and it looked delicious--and glad we did. The dish was so flavorful and we left no crumbs. We also ordered the sweet Jawn pizza which also left us members of the clean plate club. The hot honey was just subtle enough but provided an extra level of flavor you didn't realize you needed. I'll definitely be back and look forward to trying their dinner menu!! 5/5 stars!
